I've beaten the 2010 game a few times. You'll absolutely love this. Some of my favorite cars in this are the gallardo superleggera, the gt500 super snake, the zonda cinque, the r8 and the impreza hatchback.
Left trigger is indeed the brake. You tap it lightly to pull off sick drifts. The reddish-orange bar on the right of the speedometer is your damage control meter. Full bar is clean and good, no bar is really bad, especially for the rapid response events on the cop side of the game. It's a little tricky to fully get used to the controls at first, but, nonetheless, it's still fun. As you progress through, you'll have the opportunity to use weapons, such as spike strips, emp's, turbos, jammers, and helicopters (for cop events). Super, super fun and challenging. Up on the d-pad is the turbo and copter, down on d-pad is spike strip, right on d-pad is roadblock and e.m.p, if I remember right, and left on d-pad is jammer and something else.
I played hot pursuit 2 with my friends on the original Xbox. Some of the best times of my life. Staying up til 3 or 4 in the morning playing cod 2 and NFS.

This NFS has some of the best engine car sounds of any racing game and looks amazing even on my PS3 version. NFS Most Wanted 2005 and this are my two favorite from the series. It feels amazing to play the controls are spot on and has some of the best sense of speed of any racing game. I love the little details like the revving the engine when you choose your car and the camera view at the beginning of the race where your hauling ass down the road swerving through traffic. Awesome game!

I've pretty much know how to use the handbrake to make turns that the regular brake can dream of. It's best if you only tap it lightly and use the stick to control your path. The handbrake is extremely strong, so holding it down is basically a death sentence. It's also wise to tap it more than once on sharper turns (like the McClaren F1 mission in Eagle Crest).
Dude my childhood relieved racing in this game is so damn fun I’ve been so so excited for this to come out and was hoping it would before it was announced after my PS3 went to rest I’m still hoping they will remaster or remake Ghost Recon Future Soldier
a good tip is to tap the brakes for those long turns and pull the handbrake slightly for the hard turns i would let off the gas, tap the brake, and then get back on the gas again but just tap or hold down the trigger depending for more consistent drifts this game legit is my childhood and even bought the dlcs for it. enjoy it man!!
