This is why I love MMA ! i saw merab fight a few years back on an undercard and his post fight interview made me want to keep following him. He talked about how he was working construction just a few weeks prior but that he no longer needs to because of the team he’s found and the wins he’s been having. It’s crZy to see someone go from being happy to be able to do this full time to seeing them on the cusp of a championship opportunity. 135 truly is the most stacked division.. I’d finally say it passed lightweight

I didn’t expect Yan to get dominated in his career but here we are, what an insane workhorse Merab is. Machine indeed. Amazing performance for him. On the other hand what a depressing performance from Yan that was. He just wasn’t trying to do a whole lot. He’s career has been on massive downfall since that illegal knee. The illegal knee was totally on him but I still feel pretty bad about him.

Such an impressive performance. When I was watching this it reminded me so much of when Usman and Colby were running through contenders and former champions up to the title. Their pace with the wrestling and striking was absurd. And Merab seems to have followed that blueprint to perhaps an even more intense pace. For people not getting it, think about this:
Petr Yan has only lost 4 times being 3 controversial split decisions, and a DQ where he was dominant. In this fight he lost 50-45 unanimously.

Merab is a perfect example of a hard, humble worker, picked an awesome team in serra/longo and is loyal to them and listens to them. @Felipe I'm no kid and I've been practicing MMA most likely before you were born. Yans output was low cause couldn't figure out Merab and he was worried about the takedowns and level changes. Merabs striking wasn't pretty but it helped get him the win alongvwith his grappling He won all 5 rounds. It's not just about the striking its MMA which obviously you don't crap about

Didn’t expect him to do that well in the striking but this guys continuing to improve and his style is extremely difficult to fight, man is a workhorse I think he just needs to work on finding finishes in his grappling and he could really dominate the division.

He’s tough as nails and plenty of room to come back, but from being champ to lose 3 or 4 in a row if you count the dq.

@Guicy G Dude the wrestling is not necessarily the problem, he still has outstanding TDD. If anything he should work on Jiu Jitsu because he's not that big of a submission threat. The biggest problem has been the slow starts, he was unable to get any reads to make any adjustments against Merab. He's always throwing to land big, not enough small shots to build reads to momentum.
Finally he doesn't have the greatest fight IQ and he appears to be consistently underestimating his opponents. But I do agree he will need to undergo a camp change. I don't know what new gym he should join though.

One of the few fighters addressing the war. He's from Georgia a country that has been annexed by Russia in the past. The same is happening to Ukraine right now. Merab is a great fighter and great person.
@Gurami Abramishvili you guys are making the same mistake in relation to Abkhazia and Ossetia that Russia did in relation to Ukraine. Do not try to seize by force, it will bring nothing but suffering to both sides. 2008 was a total mistake made by Saakashvilli. What you really need to do is make your country a better place for everyone, and then Abkhazians and Ossetians will choose Georgia. By the same logic, Ukrainians would choose Russia over NATO if the Russian government was committed to making the lives of its people better - that's how in my opinion the Russian Government should act. For now, as far as I know from Abkhasians, they feel that Georgia doesn't need them, Georgia wants their land, that's how they feel. Change this, and Abkhasians will change their mind. Not that I'm going to teach anyone how to live and what to do, these are just my observations. Anyways, it was a long day, thanx for the conversation, I'm out. Peace.

NATO helping independent country to defend itself is keeping a status quo, not separating territory from another country. In another words, if Trump was in power and NATO did not help, death of innocent civilians would still be on Russia.
I personally do not like NATO and I won't be their advocate, but not because of them helping Ukraine, which is reasonable to me, but because of what they did to Serbia.
Oxford definition of "Annexation" is - a formal act whereby a state proclaims its sovereignty over territory hitherto outside its domain.
I won't argue about semantics. As much as you want to deny, you and I both know that only thing keeping illegitimate separatist autonomies separate is Russia. Now you can call that annexation, occupation or separation it's the same thing in practice.
"We must give the territory to Moscow, or it will turn its back on Abkhazia" - Bzhaniya on gifting 184 hectares of Abkhazian territory to Russia - that's their independence to us.

As I said earlier, their secession had no legitimacy. Just because someone has history of living there does not mean that minority can decide one day to leave country and become independent. There are rules for that and neither Soviet nor Georgian laws allowed secession of that kind.
Either way, Russia helped them militarily then and administrates them since, that's why we see it as annexation.
If you want to wrap it like that, Chechnya wanted independence and had history of living there, they had much more legitimate reason to secede from Russia than Abkhazia or South Ossetia did, without any history of sharing land with another ethnic majority. Why did Russia not accept their opinion? Is that not hypocritical?
@Gurami Abramishvili You see, you have your own opinion, but Abkhazians see it differently. But you don't want to accept their opinion for whatever reason. Abkhazia has a long history that you don't want to acknowledge.
For this reason, Abkhazia will not be part of Georgia.
