Wow I love your enthusiasm about this curriculum, it makes me really really intrigued and I hope you do a review of how it went at the end of the year. We are in the first year of our homeschool journey with my oldest being in pre/kindergarten. We just started some discussions about geography and bringing more awareness to the globe. I really liked how you shared the level of depth in questions you start with and where it can go/how deep and critically thinking it can get!
Thank you! Yes, we are really enjoying it and I will definitely do an update next year. This is our first year, as well and we're all learning a lot! I hope that your first year is going great!
How's it going 3 months in? I've seen a lot of people reviewing that they didn't like this curriculum. I was on the verge of purchasing and would like to see some good reviews before I do!
We love it! We just started the school year in mid-July so we haven't hit two months yet. I don't think it's for someone looking for an open-and-go or scripted curriculum. I chose it because I didn't want that and I wanted a curriculum that encouraged critical thinking while allowing us to dive deeper into areas of interest. I am happy that I am doing each unit over 2 weeks because there are so many suggestions of things to do and I like picking and choosing what we want to spend more time with. I feel that this curriculum allows for a lot of flexibility and I appreciate that.
Thank you for this video ❤I have a question because I’m stressing this… there are mannyyy manyyyy books and my library doesn’t carry them do you have any suggestions for the books for this curriculum
Oh, wow. Sorry to hear! There is a Torchlight Curriculum Buy/Sell/Trade group on Facebook and I've seen people selling books in bulk on there. I have also purchased books through Thriftbooks and I actually just grabbed one more on Amazon today. Some books are part of Amazon's current buy two, get one free promo. Does your library pull from nearby libraries in your area? That is what is helping me out. Books that my library does not have, they can access from other libraries in the county.
I have a question… how do you plan on making the passport stickers? I was trying on cricut but it’s really time consuming (just wondering if there’s a faster way)
Hi! Using the Smithsonian Atlas book, I went through each unit and wrote out the countries that I needed stamps for. I wish their was a countries list! I uploaded all of the stamp images I needed into Canva and put them on small circle frames. I was able to fit about 30 stamps on each page. It's actually a long explanation so I think I'll make another UA-cam video. I downloaded the images as SVG and then uploaded them to Cricut as Print Then Cut images. That allowed me to have 30 stamps on each page that my Cricut cut out as perfect little circles. I hope that helps. Again, I'll try to film a video of the process!!
@@AutumnRomano pretty pleaseee if you can… I tried the print and go and it makes me go one by one. Maybe I’m doing it wrong because it doesn’t let me download as svg🫠
On the Torchlight website, under levels, there is a link for member resources. I entered my email and gained access to all of the extras. I would not have even noticed this had it not been for the Torchlight Facebook group. Super helpful!
@@AutumnRomano thanks, I thought I went there but still missed it. I used screenshots of what you showed in the video to make my own in illustrator though 👍

Really enjoyed this video. You have me wanting to join the class and learn! 😂😊

Oh this looks so interesting! Is there a "unit" for Native American/ indigenous study?
Yes, there is!

Where did you get the file for the alternate work pages at 6:37?
