All squares can be rectangles but not all rectangles can be squares

Where did you get the 1.2 from for wastage??

@@toc4177 the 1 is for the amount figured and the .2 is the wastage. So let's say you figure you need 10 yards, take 10 x 1.2 and get 12 yards. So you would order 12 yards. If 10% use 1.1, for 15% use 1.15, for 25% waste use 1.25 and so on.

If the mix ratio is 1:2:4, how can I share the concrete volume in cubic yards?

Figure materials, get cost, add 10% for you. Figure time needed and multiply by $ per hour you want.

Where do you get the 27?

Tim !!! you got it all wrong for the final result in terms of units. When you multiply ft x ft x ft and you divide by 27 you will get cubic feet not cubic yard. If you want your result in cubic yard you need to multiply you 28cubic feet by 0.037 to have it in cubic yard which is 28 cuft X 0.037 = 1.036 cuyd Regards Mek D.

But I thought since there is 27 cubic feet in a cubic yard it should be fine to divide by 27?

He was right. 27cf=1cy. Dividing by 27 gives you cubic yards.
