  • The common native dances of Mayoyao are the 1. Henanga, more upbeat and jolly dance; 2. Upper Bahelna Dance; and 3. Lower Bahelna Dance.
The three dances are shortly explained in teh video.
Special thanks to the Barangay Officials of Balangbang, Mayoyao National High School and Shawn Lachuwan.

Pattulo' music is still being played but mostly during wake or transfer of remains from one residence to another. As for the set of gongs, I see gongs most of the time. Maybe because there are only few who can play the tune or the good gongs are gone. I hope the next generations will learn the wisdom behind our native dances and their beat.

@@SimpleLifeMajawjaw yup thats why them other cordilleran tribes play all the dances and them own gong music with sets ranging from 6 to 12 gongs i noticed that most ayangan now doesnt have interest to learn these things even the old ones gave up teaching the culture to the young ones mostly poeple of mayoyao now tends to embrace lowland culture like tinikling socila dances and other social dances im not sayin that we should not coup up in todays generation but we atleast give equality to our cultural dances and musics to be more of a show in public for poeple to know that we have our own culture and tradition todays generation is like a toxin beacuse of us mingling with lowlanders we offend hate to hear when they play the gongs cause we were influenced by poeple who have no culture and traditions unlike other tribes in the cordilleras which maintains their own culture their own identity in kalinga they are not embarassed in wearing their bahag even though their butts have skin problems or their butt is blackish here in our place mayoyao young poeple even run away to avoid being told to wear the bahag one thing other cordilleran tribes are open to learn to play the gongs for years they maintain each and every music to play in the gongs such as tadchok pattong takkik or tayaw chalichog dance sakkuting tokatok while todays generation of young poeple in our place have no interests of learning playing our gong dances they would even curse old poeple teaching them cultures haha

It's sad but we may loose our distinctive and original cultural practices in the near future.
