Nissan needs to bring back the Xterra to compete with the wrangler and bronco, now that everyone wants an off-road vehicle nowadays
Absolutely they should. I had a first gen Xterra just like in the video back in the day and it was great. My Jeep has now replaced that as my enthusiast vehicle but it would be great to see it make a return and really compete with the big guys.
Plus the new Pathfinder is an abomination.
Don’t forget about the good old trusty 4runner still going strong. The 6th gen should be coming soon!
@@Iamde4dinside well it’s just like people who buy trucks to go to work and pick up groceries lol
there is a new gen Xterra overseas, BUT it looks more like a Rogue. Was fortunate to find a '15 ProX with under 70k miles for a steal and gotta say, I like it much more than my ol 4th gen 4runner with its brake booster going out at 175k miles that Toyo knows about but won't issue recall on but hey.
Will never happen. Theyd rather make something front wheel drive with a CVT. Nissan the last 15 years has been pure garbage other than the GTR
I just want to say thank you for motortrend for showing some love to the first gen Xterra and the Nissan crowd.
Even though neglected by Nissan themselves… MT showing some appreciation
I just wanted to send some of appreciation right back at you
Love my 2002 Xterra...owned it for 15yrs...still going as my adventure ride...
Nice. Off-roading part is less than a minute long.
That X looks sick! Crazy what bigger tires and some lift will make it look.
Thanks for comment, you can consult my support team for assistance and further detailed information < *W•H•A•T•S•A•P•P•* > (+1
I love what they did on my xterra. It made it so much more capable when I went to Moab. Thanks!
@@3pochy you Wana sell it to me lol?
This video has to be easily 5 years older or better for waiting on calmini parts
First thing I thought haha
So true
Motor trend did a superb job in transforming this XTerra. Very cool rig, looks totally rugged. Very happy for Tania.
Thank you so much! 😊
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! I LOVE MY OFF-ROAD FAMILY!!!! THANKS FOR SHARING!!!
Lift kit was definitely order a couple of years ago to get it in time for this
Both Xterra's are badass! Great job on the video guys. I'm running the same Vision Wheels and I love them. Keep it up!
Finally! This is awesome motor trend finally did a video on the xterra. Well worth the wait! I might have to get calmini lift kit parts for mine now 😅🤔
Nothing wrong with a older bone stock Xterra, the automatic transmissions were rock solid, and of course a timing chain making maintenance easier
I agree!! It has been a great car! I love my Xterra!
The vg33 has a timing belt not chain
That’s so cool! Great job motor trend!! Been off roading all my life😁
Nice job guys great lift and tires vary good of you all to help out this young lady
Love my Xterra! Very underrated! Very Capable!
It's really a great car! I love mine! Motor Trend did a great job with it!
@@3pochy Yea it looks great!
@@3pochy I have a 2003 model and absolutely love it. Yours looks so awesome!! I wish you luck on the trails..
This is a tire commercial with a reality show reveal.
Love seeing a woman exited about off roading.
😊
@@3pochyyou are freaking gorgeous! 😍😍 So it's your Xterra 😅
Got damit, now these will go up in price.
They already have.
update: A 2005 with 140k miles goes for 9k in SoCal :,)
We need more Xterra videos.
We are the original owners of our 2002 Xterra. Still going strong 225K miles! It's now the "dog car." If we do anything dirty, nasty, disgusting, we take the Xterra.
Love this! I love my XT too!
Haha, same here. Owned my 2002 s/c for 17 years strong…except for the weak manifolds.
Awesome job! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Se quedó hermoso 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺♥️♥️♥️yo tengo una 2001
I miss my old Xterra!
They managed to get calmini parts to show up on time?
This is what I was thinking. Was this video started 5 years ago?
Do calami parts take forever to show up or something? Thinking about getting it for my xterra
@@titanstudioproductions335 Calmini just doesn't ship parts.
Do NOT buy from Calmini, they make an excellent product, but unfortunately you'll be lied to, ran around, and you'll end up filing a claim with your credit card after a year
@@titanstudioproductions335 tried to get some replacement parts. A year later… nothing. I have a few of their parts that I bought years ago. Great stuff but now they just don’t deliver.
4x4 parts for the win.
@@gabrielgonzalez593 what does 4x4 parts offer that's comparable to calmini?
Qué excelente Pochi!! Felicitaciones!!!
Pretty pimpin, makes me glad I ordered the calmini lift lol
Those are pretty sweet four-bys
My old man still has his Xterra
That looks fantastic! It'd be nice to know wheel specs and tire size.
265 75 r16
33" wheels
Would be so awesome ro get my xterra fixed by you guys
So cool!!!
Very cool!
Motortrend's version of pimp my ride
Nice to see you a real person and their opinion about vehicles. Interesting to see the creepy motor trend host pretend to be surprised about her off-roading a stock vehicle. I can just see what's going through his mind "The internet says that shouldn't work so I'm going to pretend to be skeptical."
That was amazing
General Grabber ATX it is!
I dunno... I like the stock one better.
Upd. Oh, my God! They worsened the front suspension kinematics!!! Just look how the front wheels toss sideways when going up and down.😧 9:41
2 years ago calmini was actually shipping orders?
So where's the off-roading part?
Tanya ahold drive from Cali to Ecuador in her Xterra
Wow, and I just put the cheapest tires I could find on my 2001 Xterra and they work fantastic! Guess I DON'T need to spend a lot of money to get good results! Besides that, bigger wheels mean much worse gas mileage. Bottom line: Stock wheels and this thing rocks !
*Great Video.*
How did you get calmini to deliver the parts 😆
@@ZboeC5 ofcourse they're in business they charge you for the parts and never deliver
I got a '06 xterra with 228K miles that reeaaallly needs some TLC but I don't have the time or money for upgrades
Can you guys do this for my 2003 Nissan frontier please I want this
I guess I should have read the reviews before I ordered my CALMINI lift?
any chance you'd want to help with my 04 Nissan Xterra? it's my dream to off-road or turn my car into a rescue vehicle for other cars.
Isnt 265/75/16 stock size?
What is the cost of the upgrade with labor?
Free for Tanya
The vanilla version of pimp my ride
It's a tire commercial. The video must be over 5 years old if they used Calmini lol
Where can I get this lift kit?
Did she get a matching spare?
Dam haven't seen one person with a xterra when I offroad other then me when I go offroading
Did they forget the ring & pinion ? Now her MPG’s & her horse power will suffer & put strain on her transmission & her speedometer will be off to. Real pro shop
Not really. The first gen xterras are geared pretty low stock and the transmission is overbuilt. I run 35s with a dana 44 up front on mine. Speedo is off, not much. But transmission doesn’t care a bit.
Yea that'll happen, but it's not as drastic as you think. These things do pretty well with 33s and stock gearing
Nice ad
They should've put locking hubs on it
Why? Nissans automatic hubs are actually pretty good on that gen Xterra and pathfinder
Ya know, calmini makes a great product, but unless you're a major company, you won't get it. You'll spend a year fighting them, making claims with your credit card company, and coming to the conclusion that you should have listened to the BBB and gone with something else.
I love the D22 platform, but anyone who's in the Nissan community would have recommended something else, most likely a leaf sprung or coilovers SAS
I agree but where do you get those parts? I order control arm 4 months ago from 4x4 parts and still on the way. Nissan aftermarket parts are a joke. My love for 1st generation X is tough!
What size tires
Should’ve taken it to Big John’s Performance across the way
What trails did she take it on in MOAB?
The shots you see in Moab at the end of the video are from Baby Lion's Back, Potash Rd, Shaifer Trail, and Chicken Corners. Great trails!!
@@3pochy Thats awesome! Did you run into any issues or did you make it through without needing to be winched? I need to get to MOAB!
@tjx It did great in Moab, did also Secret Spire and Deadman Point. Since then I had to change some parts on the XT just bc of the added weight of the tires and the lift. Im going back to Moab next month. If you have a 4x4 that's a place you gotta explore for sure!
they say there is a section of land in panama that cannot be crossed by vehicles
Its called the darién gap. It has rivers to cross and its basically all jungle. Not impossible, most people just ferry around it.
Perfect stance
Leaf springs were on chariots...
XZYBIT please Pump my Ride! 🚙
cool video... its a shame they did calmini parts... anyone in the nissan community knows they are a terrible company
So far so good! I hope they last.
@@3pochy theyre great parts, the company is horrible though for customer setvice
@@3pochy calmini makes a solid product, most people just won't get them.
HOPE SHE CHANGED THE TIMING BELT! THOSE HAVE INTERFERENCE ENGINES. THAT TIMING BELT GOES SO GOES THE ENGINE!
very unlikely even if a belt breaks to cause damage. between valve relief and hydraulic lifters, its pretty rare to see a broken belt kill a VG33
@@cptpackrat1 B.S. you do know what interference engines are right?
@@iamgermane yes I do. However I have several friends who have broken timing belts on the VG33s without damage to their motors. Even Nissan master techs will agree with me that it is very uncommon on the VG33s for them to cause damage when a belt breaks.
Dont believe me? Hop on any of the Xterra Facebook groups and ask about it.
@@cptpackrat1 Uncommon? Complete B.S. Once the timing goes the piston will hit a valve. I have listened to many Xterra engines and heard pinging. The only way an engine does not get damaged is if it is NOT an interference engine!
@@iamgermane I think you need to do some real world research. Yes is it VERY uncommon for a VG33 to sling a belt and damage a motor...
Can it happen? Sure can. But the real truth is that it is very uncommon for there to be any actual damage. You sound like someone who has no real experience with the Nissan Xterra or the VG33e/r used in the 00-04 chassis.
Between stock cam profile, hydraulic lifters, and valve reliefs on the piston, its very uncommon. Like I said, just hop on an xterra group and ask about it.
I have one to but it’s stick
I like this its kinda like pimp my ride
I was expecting SO much more then was here. This video had lots of potential to be good, but was EXTREMELY lame.
@9:55 missing lug nut lol
Video starts at 8 minutes
nice
A suv / Nissan vs. Jeep
Only in America can someone be an “off road enthusiast”. In other countries it’s just called driving
Why? Because 'other countries' don't have paved roads?
Whats your tax rate?
Is this the modern-day Pimp My Ride
The music bed was so distracting, I could not watch to the end.
FYI folks, this is an 11 minute commercial. Skip it
The Fargo was a Dodge.
Lots of Mexicans own this Nissan model 🇲🇽
Tire ads parading as content....
Oh a vary common vehicle used for roadside assassins.
Roadside assassin's?
Sounds dangerous.
What is this...? A professional car channel showing little to no footage of the actual work done to the SUV??? I saw more of the owner and the hosts talking about what they were going/actually did to the truck, than the work to get the upgrades done and barely any footage of it in action. I'd rather have spent my time watching a guy/girl with a GoPro strapped to their forehead do the same thing to their own vehicle. Dislike.
3” lift without a diff drop, she’ll be replacing CV boots every 3 months…
Like 👍🏻
Cool concept for a series but the execution is really corny. Had to stop 3 minutes in.
Oh man, Sandra from Superstore doesn't take the bus anymore!? Good for her!
Why in the world are you playing loud music over the presenter's voice? It is beyond my why UA-cam content creators play music over their voice. We came to hear you, understand you, learn from you, however we first must do our best to tune out your blaring extremely annoying background music. No, it is not cool doing that to your viewers.
Do you guys hear that? It's the impending doom of that transmission crying in pain as the radiator cracks and shoves more and more water into it.
Appreciate your compliment..for more guidance WhatsApp.....+:::1:::9:::0:::3:::3:::4:::1:::9:::7:::8:::3::....
wrong generation but nice try...
Thats a 05+ problem...
Not gonna happen. But nice troll attempt?
@@cptpackrat1 2005-2010 to be more precise...
Too much talking...
This whole video feels like an over-rehearsed ad.
How incredibly depressing. A single woman in her 40's searching for purpose in life. How about find a husband and start a family. Then enjoy off roading with your husband and children.
Better than an internet troll such as yourself watching other people live their lives as you sip mountain dew and wipe the cheeto dust off your hands. She doesn't need a husband to be happy, she just needs jerks like you to get off her case
@@s.nickerdoodleapplepeep8521 haha. Caught one boys!
@@searching4adventure85 Perhaps you should consider spending less time criticizing happy people on the internet and leaving sexist comments here and there
@@s.nickerdoodleapplepeep8521 casting hooks and catching with no bait.
But for real, single people on their 40's are, in my experience, depressed and lonely. I encourage both men and women to toss away the self and build something together with another.
But you're right, I'm taking a toilet break and trolling people online.
In real life, I have a wife and child and together we encourage people with kind words. On the internet, it's just harness.
Good luck with your life and don't let the troll army get you so upset.
This is too funny
Why did the guy say his name in the beginning?
