A look around the outside of The former Portsmouth News Centre, Hilsea.

- This newspaper publishing & printing facility was first opened in 1971.
It used to produce & print The Portsmouth News, the local Evening paper & several national Titles were also printed here.
The site is now unoccupied (except for security) & due for Redevelopment, The Office area, at the front of the building has been empty for several years, after it moved to a nearby site at Northarbour, just north of Portsmouth, the Print hall was in use until a couple of years ago, when printing moved out to other parts of the country.

@PompeyGamesRoom Cheers for watching, Yes, id love to have a look inside, but they have 24hr security on site, so not much chance of that, the plans are to redevelop the site as an electric bus hub & depot, I have heard some people mention that the iconic frontage has listed building status, i hope that is correct, as it is quite a landmark in the area.
@@NOWThatsRichy I was one of the security guards working in this place when it closed by far the best job I ever did and in regards to the inside everything had been stripped out and sent off to other sites in Northern island thurrock and Dinnington. There really wasnt much to see. Gonna make a great bus depot now though
@@matt-mu2xg I see some demolition has started at the back of the site & when I came by there yesterday, hordings have been erected all round the front of the site, there has been some talk of keeping part of the iconic frontage in the new development.
@@NOWThatsRichy I wouldn't know much now unfortunately I was security for daily mail when they owned the building when it was sold to first bus I was put out of a job but yes the rumour was that the front couldn't be touched also I talk to the bus shunters as when daily mail owned the site first bus were parking buses there and according to them first are gonna sell off some of the land most likely the back part of the building

I remember that place.
February 12th, 2024, is the planned start date of the demolition, sad to see it go a beautiful building. but im glad it wont be student accommodation or apartments like all the other buildings that are vacant and unsed, might try to do an urbex inside, if i do ill share the videos/photos i take! and if i cant, ill take some photos of the demolition process
I think they have already started some demolition at the back of the site, there was a few aerial pics I saw a couple of weeks ago.
I hope it will developed into shop and other businesses not a stupid bus depot
