Man, I know the match result was a draw but that game just shows (for the millionth time) how much of a master Shouta is.
I've never seen Craig Wescoe with such a beautiful mane
I second that!
Huh. Showed up to watch Wescoe vs Da Rosa, and g1 didn't disappoint. Really sad you didn't show the rest of the match.
MagicGatheringStrat i noticed that too........ maybe it wasn't a good match?
Hmm, maybe. G1 was great, though. I bet the other games were interesting too.
MagicGatheringStrat In game 1 at min 13:00 Craig could manifest and attack with everything (11 damage) to Paulo instead of attack to Ugin and win the game
Nacho Nogales surrak can give haste only to 1 creature each turn, wich in that case was surrak himself
Nacho Nogales dude sylvan caritid can't attack, she's a defender 0/3
Just noticed how massive Craig's graveyard was half-way through the game
Today we have one of the "biggest names" in Magic...... Paulo Vitor Damo Da Rosa. I couldn't stop laughing, no disrespect to Paulo.
At this point in time he already has 9 pro tour top 8. Paula is at the time of this comment tied with with finkel for most
Oh yes, I know he's one of the all-time greatest players, I was just making a dumb joke about how his name is long. I've watched many of Paulo's matches and read many of his articles over the years. He's not just a good player, he's very entertaining and informative.
@@nomukun1138 oh i get the joke now, sry to comment a 8 year old comment
Craig Wescoe looks like a vampire
Why not -3 Ugin when he tapped out to play it? It plays around Surrak kills the mastery and gives him a win condition to untap with while he had removal in his hand for any follow ups?
"Gets feature match... They only show the first of three games and instead they show a control mirror"
Come on guys, that was not nice. At least the control mirror was pretty nice
Amazing video thank you MTG ;)
" 40% chance he would play the deck, 40% chance he wouldn't..." - Randy Buehler
Heh, one of the greatest names in the game. I see what you did there Marshall.
Why did they stop following the premiere match after the first game?
how are they getting around there hexproof dragons with cards that say target?
+Ryuu Bryan Ojutai is only hexproof when he's untapped.
He almost forgot to say, "Dragons of Tarkir" right at the beginning
16:20 Couldn't Craig have paid the CMC of the Raptor instead of the megamorph, due to it entering face down via manifest? Tha would be a more mana efficient play, and he could still have access to his manifest engine.
If flipped for the CMC they would trade, but since he flipped with megamorph getting the bonus +1/+1 counter, deathmist would survive.
What happened in the last game? I don't understand. Someone please explain.
There are match time limits. Once that time limit is exceeded then there are 5 extra turns. If the match has not been decided by then, it ends in a draw.
You mean the draw? Games only go for a certain amount of time. After that time elapses the players gets five turns before the game becomes a draw so Player A plays A land and passes that's turn 1 then Player B plays A land and passes that's turn 2 Ect. Shoato had the kill set up but after the five turns were over so the game was A draw even though Shoato was going to win next turn.
Why didn't he just minus Ugin?! Wtf?
Juan Francisco Hernández Gómez
Ugin's minus doesn't exile manifests. Craig could manifest in response, and then his two manifests could kill an Ugin on three loyalty
380138013801 he had a god damn board wipe! 100% worth the -4 loyalty
380138013801 yeah but he would ged rid of the mastery
BR BRBRBRBBRBRBRBBRBRBRBRRBRBR PAULO VICTOR !!!!!!
Isn't there a rule indicating that if a player will be obviously winning after the 5 extra turns, there can be an exception made and a win awarded?
Edgar Wang I'm fairly certain there isn't, although I wish there was.
Edgar Wang There is not.
Edgar Wang The trouble is, "obviously winning" is not always obvious. Judges and even pro players will sometimes disagree. And even when everyone agrees a player is in a winning position, the win might not happen. A sequence of unlucky draws or a slight misplay can upset the game.
In this case, Shouta was pretty much guaranteed to win if the game went just a few more turns, but the rules can't be fudged to allow him to get the win. :(
Did Wescoe forget to gain life from flipping Deathmist Raptor?
Vlad Chalenko yes, Pro Tour DTK, the pro tour with the most missed triggers in magic history, it was disgusting to see so many "pro" players missing triggers.
wow, so unfair, felipe really did deserve to lose that game. in a control mirror you should NEVER pass a counterspell off a dig through time, expecially if u're ALREADY ahead on board. doesn't he know control mirrors are always won by the one who's got more counterspells and card draw in hand ?
51:58 haahahahaa dat face
Wescoe looks like Bruce Jenner
Paulo is playing with his lands behind is other permanents? Who is this man pretending to be PVDDR?
Craig missed several Mastery triggers, shame shame
why did craig draw? it was stupid if u ask me...
Ojutai Bant?! What does that even mean? That is the worst deck name
ScrapperTBP It's basically a G/W deck that splashes blue for Ojutai, making it technically Bant. So, since Ojutai is the focus of its Bant-ness, it makes sense to use the name "Ojutai Bant" to differentiate it from the other G/W decks floating around

I get what it means, I was being hyperbolic. I'm just stating that I don't like it because it sounds clunky and awkward. My main problem with it is that the main part of the deck G/W and that isn't really represented in the name. Like Ojutai is a splash. A notable one but a light splash. G/W Ojutai would have been better in my opinion. That says 'hey this deck is G/W but look there is an Ojutai or two. It isn't the main part of the deck (that is G/W as we have said) but it is important so we included it in the deck name. Ojutai Bant sounds like the green is the splash.
ScrapperTBP G/W Splash U -----sounds better and funny
Ojutai Bant sounds like a UW deck splashing Green, like how the Atarka Red deck was a RDW splashing Green.
Felipe biggest cheater in history LOL fucking A go watch his feature match his pick up his scry land to take advantage of Narset lol I wonder if he had cheated as well againt this opponent to ultimate marset
