Actually, I have many uses for this herb! It makes a lovely tea, a delicious pesto, and unlike typical oregano, it works really well in cooked dishes. I know the initial smell is strong, but it mellows out quickly and plays well with other seasonings. So, I end up putting lots of it in sauces and seasonings.
Oh wow! Would it be too much to ask to share a tea or simple cooking recipe, please! I have a Plant 6ft tall, I almost threw it in the garbage I didn't know what to do with it. There's not many videos for use, so it'll be greatly appreciated if you could share it. Thanks in advance ❤
Also called OREGANO BRUJO by Puerto Ricans or also known as broadleaf thyme. Your variagated kind is beautiful. They will die in really cold weather; therefore, it needs to be taken inside in the winter in cold areas. They can stay in a container of water all winter long and don't need to be potted in soil. They do love warm weather and keep better color if grown in a shady area. Mine have only produced tiny white flowers once. They grow fast. I haven't had any pests except that spiders (in my area) love to web in the plants. I use it in a ton of my cooking. Stews, soups, any meat dishes and chopped fine with basil and parsley on fish with olive oil and butter.
Oregano 🌿 tea 🍵 with some honey is good for cough, sore throat and loss of voice. My wife was recommended this when she had the above symptoms and it worked wonders by next day. Great 👍 vid Khang...
The Vick is more than likely for Vicks vapor rub. I just got one today that is supposed to be Cuban Oregano but it is not verigated, it's just green . I haven't noticed a strong odor unless I rub it like you say, I have not tasted it yet.
How awesome!!! Hola my friend, I have one of these growing in a container :) Well not this variegated variety but the solid green one. I’ve used it for tea only but that’s because I’m not much of a cook! So easy to grow and propagate. And you know, come to think of it, I haven’t seen any pests in this plant either! We have mild winters here in northern Bajá but still going to take some inside just in case!
Nice video Khang! I have the non-variegated variety growing inside. It is very pungent! Very easy to propagate too. I started mine from a cutting someone gave me. She called it 'Witch Oregano', there are many names for like you mentioned.
I’ve grown both the green & variegated Cuban oregano in central Florida. The variegated version is a lot weaker than the green version. Mine always die. The green version is harder to kill.
Very nice video Khang! I think that I'm going to grow my own herbs this new year. I will probably get a head start and start in December inside. Thank you for the information.
Cindy, maybe you could call local nursery and see if they would carry it. Or, check with garden groups on Facebook and see if anyone has any cuttings they would send you.
Does that taste the same as Mexican oregano and does it taste the same as Vicks smells? Who knows, the active ingredient Vicks may come from that. Thanks Khang.

It's an evasive plant in the Caribbean, I think they also call it "el diablo" in the Caribbean. It has a very black pepper taste.
