This was the very first smartphone I ever bought. I slaved away for days writing articles for a company I used to write with so I could get this phone because at the time; it was quite impressive for the price. I hate that there isn’t a 4G version because I would buy it just to have for nostalgia. I LOVED this phone and it really did a lot for me back then. I’m watching this just because I wanted to relive the moment I felt when I got this phone from FedEx years ago… the joy of opening the box and knowing that it could do things my prior phone could never do… I felt so luxurious having this lol
Just purchased this device yesterday on eBay. Looking forward to it. This would be my first Android phone. I did have a iPhone 3G and iPhone 4 on AT&T, but they where too expensive. Virgin Mobile gets pretty good reception in my area, and decided to go with them. Cant beat $25 for unlimited texting and data + 300 minutes.
This was my first Android phone and I love it. I switched to T-mobile and upgraded to a slighter higher end phone, but I'm keeping this phone to use GrooveIP when near wifi and for its GPS which locks onto location like none other.
I have had this phone for awhile (got it the first day Best Buy had it) and I have to say it's a great phone for the price point. I would say it is the best phone option for being prepaid. I run UA-cam, FB and Twitter constantly and have not had any problems. I have to say having had several phones in the last few years this is the best phone and best deal (I got it at $150 but even at $200 it's a good deal).
This phone is the shit back when i used to have it i would only pay 25 bucks a month for 300 mins and unlimited text and data and i would use it as a free Hotspot i miss it :( but i love my note 3 just as much
This phone has been good to me and you can't beat the no contract $43 a month after tax plan. The 3g is a bit spotty and will sometimes just disappear altogether, which requires me to restart my phone. BUT it does hijack the Sprint Network so I wonder that the root cause is. Other than that it's GREAT and the marketplace has many free awesome apps. Highly recommended.
I'm 15 years old and I saw the phone on Virgin Mobile's website, and since I already have Virgin Mobile, I decided to check out this review, I loved it so much I asked for it for my birthday, which is the 29th of this month, I asked for and i'm getting it tommorow. Thank you for a great review! -Julie. :)
4:30 screen responsiveness is not so much an indication of processor power, as the low resolution of the screen, so the processor has less work to do. Unless you really want to have sharp images, this is a really great compromise to make. Just ordered one and can't wait to get it. Been a Virgin Mobile customer for 2 years already and could not be happier. Love that the plans that come with these have no BS fees for texting!
@cdnerds no it's not a dual core, 600mhz isn't bad, but the only retail dual core in the U.S is in the LG GX2, but the speeds are fast enough on the optimus, so it's not really necessary
this is best phone ever upgraded from a blackberry to this. my phone fell into water its been stepped on and has survived. Ive had thiz phone for 1 year no problems so far.
this phone is dual core, it has a 600mhz processor for apps and a 400mhz modem processor, plus a GPU. This phone is more powerful than people are giving it credit for.
If you were to compare LG Optimus V with HTC Wildfire S, which is the better phone, that is more reliable with good apps & camera? Both Virgin Mobile phones are on sale for black Friday. Optimus is $50 at Target only and Wildfire is $99 at Radio Shack. Thank you!
oh, on the virgin mobile reviews, one of the customers explained how to fix the problems with charging. All of the Optimus devices have a defect where they are constantly searching for service, so they need to have that feature disabled. All you have to do every time you reboot your phone ,is to put the phone into airplane mode for about 15 seconds. then the problem is fixed, and charging goes much, much, much faster!
This phone is legit. I've had it since '11. Might be slow and ugly as hell now in comparison to all the phones out now but this shit is a tank. I've dropped it like a million times, shit hasn't cracked once and still does what I need it to.
Very odd that all the other reviews I have seen mention that this phone does NOT support flash.....But you mention flash taking longer to load... Does it support flash?
I have one of these phones. For the price, this is a GREAT phone. Virgin Mobile's voice + data no-contract plans are dirt cheap. Contracts are for fools. There is no longer an excuse to be stuck with a crappy phone.
This phone is amazing! I have it on the virgin mobile plan, and I pay only 25 dollars a month for unlimted web, and text. And it gives you 300 calling min.
I just got this phone last Thursday and I really like it. But can someone please tell me why the battery life is so short and why it takes so darn long to charge it back up to full. I've had my phone on charge for the last couple hours and it's only charged to 34% from 10%. I would think that if the phone had a short battery life, they might make it charge faster than it does.
@isantop intercept has 2.1 and is just a really unstable phone. Optimus on the other hand, is really snappy and responsive. I think it's because of the gpu inside of optimus that's helping out
Radioshack has this phone on sale for $99.99 until Saturday. I'm gonna pick it up tomorrow. Better than paying $129.99 though not quite as good getting it for $50 on black friday.
I run my nexus one at 614mhz and its very fast. the cpu speed is just a number its more how optimized the system is to use the hardware and how optimized the software is to close programs that take up lots of memory.
@TacosOfInjustice I would also like to know how she got the weather and time to show up so big on her home screen. I also would like to know which task killer she downloaded. That may be a necessity.
i so totally cant wait to get this phone ive been harsing this phone everyday until i get mater of fact i will thank all for your comment and review icaint wait to get it its going to be my best friend but NOT IN FRONT OF GOD im going to name my lg optimus v ( JARTAY)
Phone's great except when it freezes occasionally. About 1 week after I bought it the power button didn't work after I unplugged it from charging, so the screen was black, until I took it to best buy to have them take a look at it.
Got this phone about two weeks ago ( frr 100.00 at a third party provider:-) pretty good phone. came from an evo but it still is a pretty good android phone. only thing is that the flash doesnt work by default due to the proccessor type. other than that im pleased with it.
@cpresley93 Sooooo True! It's like a brand new device and it's so easy to root and flash the rom. I had a lot more internal memory and the device is smooth and fast and my camera takes better pictures with the new settings. I'm on 2.3.4 CM7 and would like to be on 2.3.7? What are you using for your rom? Does the speaker work better?
@jtoro97 - As far as the payment goes, I recommend using the Top-Up cards and that only. Since the customer service seemed awfully confused whenever I called, I don't think I wanted to trust them with my credit card. The Top-Up cards are prepaid, so there's no way it can charge you more than $25. The Top-Up cards have always worked for me. The calls, texting, and data all work fine. Just make sure you don't go over your minutes, but you can check that periodically directly from your phone.
This was my first smart phone. I miss it so much
Same here

First Android phone back in 2012. I remember getting hooked on Game Dev Story and Sonic CD on it. Also learning to root and installing ROMs.
Me too. Awesome little phone.
I remember installing Cyagenmod on it with Gingerbread… good times 😊
I really love how you posted in text on the screen the screen resolution and other specs. alot more helpful than other phone channels.
I agree, this was my second Android but definitely one of the best ones I've ever had. I'll always remember it being so reliable, never missed a beat.
Just purchased this device yesterday on eBay.
Looking forward to it.

I just bought this phone a few days ago brand new on EBay for $24. I bought it for the nostalgia because it was my first smartphone ever.
This was my first android phone as well and i loved it until it was stolen.
This was my first Android phone and I love it. I switched to T-mobile and upgraded to a slighter higher end phone, but I'm keeping this phone to use GrooveIP when near wifi and for its GPS which locks onto location like none other.

elegy123 I still have it in 2017 and it sucks when it comes to loading webpages
It only has 140 MB of RAM so I can only imagine lol
elegy123 those 25$ days were the best
My first Android phone, back from 2011.

-Julie. :)
This is the second smart phone I ever owned. It was great and is the reason I still prefer LG brand phones over the other flagship devices.
I've had this phone for a while...and it's surprisingly amazing! Faster than my old MyTouch 3G Slide, and $40/month cheaper than my old contract. :)
I love my Opyimus V had the little sucker for like a year now and its still runs like its just out of the box
had this phone4years no complaints tough phone

This was my first Android phone on Virgin Mobile than was the Samsung Galaxy preavil 1 on Boost Mobile

Yes! Got it! Black Friday, you rock!
My first phone. I loved it so much.
This is my phone. What is with people bashing it? I like it...
Still Rocking my Optimus
This phone is awesome and especially for the price, I miss my optimus v lol
probably the best value phone on the best value phone plan. i have one and am very pleased. $70 on sale.
cant wait till christmas for this
@cdnerds no it's not a dual core, 600mhz isn't bad, but the only retail dual core in the U.S is in the LG GX2, but the speeds are fast enough on the optimus, so it's not really necessary
Just got mine yesterday baby! WOOT! WOOT! I freaking LOVE this phone muwhahahaha.
Had this phone about 2 weeks and I'm digging it, touch screen takes about 2 weeks to adjust to.
I still have this phone
I still think it's one of the best!
i think imma get this phone in a few weeks. for a no contract phone and easy plans it seems like my best option
i still have my V, should i upgrade to LG F3 or iphone 5s ?
i still use it :)
this is best phone ever upgraded from a blackberry to this. my phone fell into water its been stepped on and has survived. Ive had thiz phone for 1 year no problems so far.

Just ordered mine from Amazon.
It was $49.99 Black Friday Deal
but they sold out real quick yet i
still purchased it with 88% off!

I think I might get this as my first phone.
I like Sydney's reviews. She's not ageist "good for old people" and she doesn't put down less technically savvy people to review the phone.
I'm goin to get this phone
Any suggestion for what to do when I get it?
this is a nice reveiw, i just wanted to know which carrier is better virgin or metro pcs? thanks
i bought this for my girl & it works really good its faster than my motorola i1 from boost...lg optimus v its so worth buying it..
getting mine on friday!
im glad i got this phone
This phone is legit. I've had it since '11. Might be slow and ugly as hell now in comparison to all the phones out now but this shit is a tank. I've dropped it like a million times, shit hasn't cracked once and still does what I need it to.
Hey I used to have this phone. I'm trying to remember. It had a ringtone I loved. Cello or piano what's it called? I'd like to get it for my new phone
Couldn't find either. Maybe Xylophone Bell?
Actually wait lol just remembered. It was in the alarm clock sounds
Daniel De Leon it's very slow
Great review, just want I needed to know.
i was wondering ..where i can put a sim card slot? because i have one this but no sim card slot
Dear former Optimus users, would you get his phone or would you wait for the htc wildfire s to come out on virgin mobile? Thanks!
Great video
I have different thoughts upon the optimus v after watching this video.
I might purchase it.
Thank you for giving me help.
When's 2.3 coming out? And can you download it from your phone? (I just got this cell phone a couple days ago.)
I'm getting one tomorrow
I quit AT&T when this phone came out. Saved my ass 70$ a month!!! It does the same thing as an iphone.
i couldnt find the app, whats the name of it?
Very odd that all the other reviews I have seen mention that this phone does NOT support flash.....But you mention flash taking longer to load...
Does it support flash?
@chewouch I pay $25 a month with VM, but I heard they raised the plan to $35 for new customers, might be wrong though.
i think ill be getting this
Was thinking of getting this, but now I am going to T-Mobile
I hope I get this phone Saturday.
I may have missed it during the various reviews but did I read right somewhere that this LG has a built-in FM radio in it?
@sketcheddreams can you get this as a prepaid because? We can't afford a monthly contract so a prepaid would be amazing.
I have one of these phones. For the price, this is a GREAT phone. Virgin Mobile's voice + data no-contract plans are dirt cheap. Contracts are for fools.
There is no longer an excuse to be stuck with a crappy phone.
Time flies.
@NaiL1588 Nope. When I posted that comment, that was the price. I went and looked to make *sure* before I posted.
If I buy it at Best Buy, do I have to pay an activation fee.
Oh, and awesome review.
This phone is amazing! I have it on the virgin mobile plan, and I pay only 25 dollars a month for unlimted web, and text. And it gives you 300 calling min.
I'm trying to find out where you got weather widget for your home screen shown in this review.
I just got this phone last Thursday and I really like it. But can someone please tell me why the battery life is so short and why it takes so darn long to charge it back up to full. 50 bucks at target right? Anywhere else? Wish I could get it online for that price
@ONE2BEAST That clock isn't Android standard, it an LG add on. Just like HTC with the sense clock, barebones Android isn't crazy for massive clocks.
Radioshack has this phone on sale for $99.99 until Saturday. I'm gonna pick it up tomorrow. Better than paying $129.99 though not quite as good getting it for $50 on black friday.
This was my second smartphone and it was the battery was ASS lol
im getting this in november! yay
This phone will be 50 bucks on black friday and I most of likely will be getting this phone.
I run my nexus one at 614mhz and its very fast. the cpu speed is just a number its more how optimized the system is to use the hardware and how optimized the software is to close programs that take up lots of memory.
do you have to pay for the apps, like on the ipod touch, or iphone?

As soon as I see Sydney, I'm thinking "Wow, she is so beautiful".....and I'm definitely going to get this phone.....
i have to wait a month to get it is it worth it
i heard that virgin mobile is coming out with another phone at the end of march so idk if i should get it
Phone's great except when it freezes occasionally. About 1 week after I bought it the power button didn't work after I unplugged it from charging, so the screen was black, until I took it to best buy to have them take a look at it.

I just BARELY got my in the mail. How do I get that date and weather on the home screen?
Getting one this friday(:

its locked on virgin mobile and it only supports CDMA. There is ways of putting it on Sprint.
i love sydney :D shez so beautiful n calm by nature...
She is honest I like that!
i bought the optimus v for no reason but now i like it lol its good give it a 4/5
i just got this phone on last friday
