The name Ilorin itself is a Yorùbá so how can you be asking if Yorùbá has ever ruled their
I just dey vex anytime I remember the history of ilorin…. I know one day they will regain it bck but might not happen anytime soon maybe when Nigeria divide. Everyone will fight for their land
Exactly I go just day vex because what’s going on there isn’t proper at all
If that emir die they shouldn't allow them to crown another one
It will happened soon even when Nigeria did not divide when alimi king passed away.

I'm watching this again on this day June 4 2024. The 1st time i watched this was 2003
Even though there are some errors in the story line and how the norms and culture of the old Oyo Empire was portrayed, but yet it's still a great movie. Guns were not used to fight wars then. Our forefathers used bow and arrow, cutlasses, sword and spear. Also, the Basorun is the leader of that expedition and 10x superior to the Kakanfo, he can't be calling the Kakanfo" Lo gun Ofe". Also, the Onikoyi is a king,Afonja can't send him on an errand like that. Alaafin Aole committed suicide, he wasn't killed. Solagberu and Alimi are not paddies
well, these are valid points but let me point this out.
1. don't forget that oyo empire did heavy slave trade so they had guns from europeans, also there were locally made gun those days fortified with charms but yes most of the warfare weaponry were bow&arrows, cutlasses and spears.
2. it is true that the basorun, prime minister of the oyo empire and head of the oyomesi is 10× superior to the kakanfo but that was before ga'a in the mediaeval times of imperial oyo. ga'a was the last most feared and fearsome basorun to which after his death the empire came across a steady horrible decline, so in this movie the basorun wasn't ga'a and at the time the kakanfo was already the post of the supreme commander of the entire yoruba army, an honour to oyabi by abiodun after he resuced him from ga'a, afonja made kakanfo by awole (who was rumoured to have killed his father, abiodun) also an oyo prince was so prominent than the basorun who was now just a mere commander of the army inside the metropolitan oyo.
3. onikoyi is a king, yes but a sublet king of one of the 7 provinces of oyo back then not a high king, so the kakanfo has prominence over him as he was the supreme commander of the entire oyo army in all 7 provinces and wide afar into captive cities.
i think you underrate the prominence of the aare ona kakanfo afonja..
4. alaafin aole wasn't killed yes, he committed ritual suicide, he was a terrible king though but the oyomesi at the time was so so corrupt that they barely let him had his reign in peace.
5. solagberu and alimi weren't paddies, true, they only collided to bring down kakanfo because of his greed and heavy vye for power at all cost, just like ga'a..
solagberu is a fool though, idk why you would betray your kinsmen like that, he was later killed by alimi's son abdulsalam who was the first emir of ilorin as an empire of the fulani emirate under the sokoto caliphate..
thank you. 👍🏼
Yorubas must wake up and retrace our togetherness or else we are bound for extinction, but Èlèdumaré will spare us against the curses of Oba Aolè🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

When Yoruba movie was still fun to watch
Noticed that movie hasn’t got part 2 and 3 or even 4 like the ones we have today
The yoruba tribe are so accommodating and tolerant.
It's a very touching story, but Allah knows best.
History is still repeating it self due to the yoruba leader's greediness and selfishness. I don't think we can ever change.
Being accommodating is not a bad thing and honestly I love Yorubas for that. But sometimes, we just need to be careful and what makes it a disaster most times is the selfish nature of some Yorùbás
@@RemilekunAkinrinadeThey now claim ownership of Lagos, how? Is Lagos in the South East? Obviously, you don't know what you are saying.
This is exactly where the problem with Yoruba start and till now especially we from Kwara state have no say in our own land except we accept Zulu Gambari as our leader in a Yoruba land also we have to be a Muslim is just sad 😅 cause if you are not ready to accept them then you already have problem may God vindicate us from their hand
The movie speak volume of what is happening to yorubas now and will never learn from the past, think is going to repeat itself again
Yorubas are too simplistic in dealing with strangers in their mist, encouraging the strangers already in their mist to become formidable enemies, easily defeating the Yorubas in their own land. No true victorious warrior brings war to himself. He takes war to the enemy. Not the Yoruba. He is too simplistic. In present day Nigeria, see how the Yorubas accommodated the Igbos who now claim Lagos is no man's land as a first step to claiming Lagos is Igboland. Sadly, some Yoruba leaders claiming civilisation, are quarrelling with Yorubas resisting the Igbos.
You are very correct. As Yorùbás, we need to be more conservative especially all these young guys forming to be liberal at the expense of forfeiting ours
If you want Lagos to be yours and oyibos support the call for separation or else shut it. Igbos are not the only nonyorubas living in your shitty Lagos.
One thing I've noticed about you lot is ttst you and your Fulani lovers love to steal resources from BIAFRA land and damning the consequences but get upset when people come to your land to seek economic prosperity.
If you want Lagos to be yours, Please do the needful. We are all tired of your Nigeria.
everything is going to be alright soon✌️I will make sure that happen by eledumare😍😍
I think all the Yoruba kings and the elders with those have knowledge and wisdom come together to find solution to the matter
Years after, Fulani are still doing the same thing in Yoruba Lands,
Yoruba o si ronu
Lovely story❤❤❤❤❤....
Imagine Yoruba people become bello 😫😫 ilorin people are in great messed up.
So this is how Fulani people took over Ilorin, Kwara state entirely 🤔🙄😳🤷🇳🇬🔥🤟
Ilorin is just a town in Kwara, Fulani took over the Kingship by integrating with the Yoruba community. mind you, they speak only Yoruba in Ilorin, other towns in Kwara include Omu-Aran where Bishop Oyedepo hails from; others are Offa, Ekiti communities etc.. It is incorrect to conclude that Fulani took over the whole Kwara state.
Thank you
@@salawuopeyemi6655 exactly, most people that haven’t been to kwara state think the whole kwara is under fulani emirate
Who told you Fulani took over Ilorin not to talk of Kwara state entirely. You all need to stop talking rubish
@@saidatadeyinka7063 Can you please explain then, we are all here to learn not insult eachother
Always yorubas fight each other aspa brothers for power and later invite outsiders to help fight for them down in Lagos 2 brothers fighting that leed to one asking British to fight for him and they did that lead to the control of Lagos then
Toh we hope so the yorubas has not learn till date the Fulani will dominate them u can see the yorubas kings are getting married to Fulani women so wat happens after they must have grown power struggle
theres just so much hate for fulanis online but in reality they are better than most tribes
Had afonja done wrong accommodating u people u, here saying nonsense ingrate fulani and hausa
To a large extent, this film follows Rev Johnson's work on the History of the Yoruba.
The thumb nail of this film is crazy! See how the boys wore turbans. Damn!
This is exactly what is happening in Nigeria today, it was ilorin then but now is all Nigeria they want to take, and yoruba peuple dont see what is coming
Tinubu needs to watch this movie and note what happened very carefully hmmm
Please can you upload Oduduwa movie too? 😢

We no get corporations for this Yoruba land na why strangers they always take advantage of us 😢 right from the time of our our ancestors
Too much simplicity and welcoming of Yoruba and stubbornness and foolishness of Afonja cost us Ilorin.
You yorubas don't like each other ever since right before time Till date you all are not united u all fight each other backstab each other curses each other trust outsiders than each other please tell me why will other tribes not take advantage of this
Historical repeatedly in Yoruba the curse have to be stopped today now in the name of Jesus Christ amen no more curse in Yoruba land
This is a deceitful story ilorin is united without bias
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂alliamdulilahi we fulani finally take over ilorin 😂😂😂.....I just dey find una trouble ni oo😂😂😂...
Please guys Ilorin did NOT conquer all yoruba nations but they destroyed old Oyo kingdom. Also know that many commanders of ilorin army were yorubas. In 1840 were permanently defeated by only Ibadan army. Also know that ilorin always collabo with other yoruba nations and alliances. However, divisions among yorubas were very common which eventually brought down the Yoruba empire.
A detailed explanation on the fall of Ọ̀yọ́-Ilé (Old Oyo Empire)
Thanks for sharing this
Starting with the foolishness and arrogance of aole. It was a sad story. The reinforcement arrived too late for afonja
1:14:17 ❤❤❤
Ilorin history is a very sad one. The Fulani took over Ilorin with deceit and forcefully took their land, raped and forcefully married the Yorubas just like what the Boko haram did to the Chibok girls. Hence, the reason you see many of them speaking yoruba fluently and giving themselves yoruba names. They are Omo ale!
It would be very difficult to take back Ilorin from the Fulanis because they all speak yoruba and even have yoruba names. They use religion to cover up and manipulate history
Also at 49:12 the curse is there. Look at Ilorin, some people still foolishly calls Ilorin North Central. Calls it Hausa land. The cause is not letting them to be united to fight for their land
That's the big problem in yoruba land we are not unite religiously and politically.
Yoruba upon all this you people continue to remain slave to the Hausa and Fulani what a big shame till date.
Yoruba People are no slaves to anyone or tribe. We lost Ilorin but not it's people. Some day, the real owners will take over.
@@mickelodu lol, yorubas were regarded as unbelievers by these people and because of that enslaved. and you say some day the real owners will take over , who are the real owners
@@boylikeanselm1740
That they see us as slaves doesn't mean we are their slaves. Yorubas see other tribes including the Fulanis, Igbos nd Hausas as slaves. I don't think those tribes will regard themselves as that.
@@mickelodu lol, you weren't seen as slaves, you were enslaved. the saddest part of this stuff is, we had the nuk kingdom, then the yoruba kingdom, and then the benin kingdom. the only people in nigeria who have been treated badly by the northerners due to religion are still the ones frolicing with the notherners.
Ilorin never became Fulani land and it would never be, all this stupid move
U talk like a fool, Ilorin has been installing Fulani Emir from den till date, so Ilorin is under which tribe like that?
@@josephferanmi9626 ilorin is ruled by its people not fulani ilorin is a Muslim city where we see ourselves as equal
Once Yoruba gets the presidency all lost inheritance would be reclaimed. Keep calm and watch.
Yorùbá Nation is what is best for us. Even with one of us as the president, the Nigerian constitution is rigged to favour the Northerners asides from that we are different in many ways and our mindset and beliefs can never align
I honestly hope you can come back to this comment and see how they’ve sadly proved you wrong and fall your arms with the present situation of this country 😢
There was never an oba in Ilorin and they'll never be. Aare ona kakanfo is a general
Before Àfọ̀njá the kakanfò, there was Láderin; Àfọ̀njá’s great grandfather, Pàsín; Àfọ̀njá’s grandfather, Alùgbìn; Àfọ̀njá’s father.
That he was kakanfò doesn’t mean he was not a Báálẹ̀ or king. In fact the kakanfòs in that era doubled as Generalissimo and leader of their community
@@WovenTVC my point is, they were not kings but they were mandated by the Alaafin (king) to secure their border from invasions. Aare ona kakanfo was the title for commander or head of generals
Koro orun
Let's all sense
From the beginning scenes there re some errors in this story
Why should Basorun be stealing
That was just showing the oppression going on under the Alaafin Aole who was a very wicked prince/king. So his chiefs too like Basorun among others became oppressive to the people
Ummmmmmmmmm ẹyin ẹ̀yán mi ẹ sunmo mi níbi, nje a mo ona abayi bayi bí?

At 48:35 this is the curse affecting Yoruba people still today only prayer is averting some other people's portion of the curse
History has repeated itself again. What a shame!
BOKO HARI has brought Wild Fulani kinsmen from African countries to help him fight democracy dominated by the Southern Presidency.
Now he won election and the armed wildlife he brought took to the forest to constitute nuisance and banditry.
Because they are his people he concord to look away and help them take over the forests all over the country.
This social disorder is metamorphosing into ethnic war.
Southern Nigerians, wise up .
It is well
Afonja never 👎
This is a funny cock and bull story about the history of Ilorin. This does not represent the true history of Ilorin. It is unfortunate that anyone will ever produce this trash as the epic story of Ilorin in view of the well-documented and reliable historical account of the formation of Ilorin and the circumstances leading to the ascendance of the Alimi dynasty in Ilorin.
Well, the producer of this firm has done a great disservice to the people of Ilorin by presenting a false narration of their history. The participation of respected actors in this firm leaves a sense of disappointment.
A historical firm of this nature ought to have an authentic and verifiable source of information and not just a jaundiced account of the history of the people of Ilorin. I do not think the producer realized that this was not just a movie but a work which supposed to tell an accurate and reliable historical account of the origin of the people of Ilorin. This is unfortunate and I believe at the right time a more reliable account of the events will soon be out to complement other documentary evidence of the history of Ilorin. This firm is therefore nothing but a lazy work of acting with reckless insensitivity to the consequences of so many lies put together and the implication of misinforming viewers of the true story of Ilorin. This is unfortunate.
Silence u kafir
