  • Duke and Duchess of Sussex accorded the traditional Yaqona Vakaturaga, the chiefly welcoming Yaqona ceremony in Fiji. Kava or Yaqona is the country's traditional drink that is also shared among a circle of friends, consumed during meetings, socialising and tradition.

That was awesome. "Meke Taki ni Yaqona Vaka Turaga" is something very special to Fiji and I am glad it's still preserved from ancient times. There may be variations but through out the country on the presentation, but the protocol is still the same.

    Hi there!
I would usually DM or email this inquiry but I didn't see an option on your channel. I'm spearheading an effort to make a channel about everything kava, no money involved. Would you mind if I used a short snippet of this video for our kava overview? I would thank/credit your channel at the end.
    BULA!

What is the song they are singing?

It is a tribal chant. In some parts of Fiji, the yaqona or kava ceremony chant is hundreds of years old. In most cases, it is sung in the dialect of the region.

It's actually small to medium size, my brother. You should see the Tanoa's that the people of Fulaga Island in Fiji carve. You could literally take a bath in it.
