Finally, a minimalist with worn out things and unmatched furniture. Most minimalist videos have bran spanking new items and seems like an unrealistic life style.
There’s nothing wrong with new items… Minimalism is defined by the user, “Minimalist fashion is defined by one major principle: keep it simple! Streamlined shapes, a small selection of colors and even a bare minimum (gasp!) amount of clothing in your closet. Simplicity is the key to pinpointing this style.”
Keep your TV. It's good to be minimal with possessions, but it's even better to spend time with people who matter. If that means you have to keep an item around then it's essential, we all need friends and time to unwind.
I'm a student as well as a teenager, by watching your videos along with enjoying I also got to know that I don't need much things to be happier, it can also be achieved with what I have. Just discovered your channel today and I'm so happy that I did so, Have subscribed and would be looking forward for more amazing videos like these from you. That's all KUDOS to you brother!! Edit: Spelling error corrected.
It's awesome to hear that from you. I'm glad that my channel reached you and you enjoyed watching it. Thanks for the nice comment and I'll continue to work on more meaningful videos! 🙏
Some thoughts to share about your video: 1. You're good at making a HDB flat and bedroom look sexy 😉 2. Your sleeping arrangements and treatment in the morning brought back memories cos it was what we did as children living in my grandma's flat. 3. At least your wardrobe is for storage of your own things. Two thirds of the wardrobe space is for my mum's clothes and she says that she has nothing to wear.... 4. Consider a ceiling fan to replace the standing fan in the future? All in, keep up the good work!
I like the closet. Wood tones go well with plants. You could approach it from a mindfulness perspective, accept the wardrobe for what it is and not let it bother you anymore. Or actively observe it as it ages over time, as another form of mindfulness.
I love how simple and inexpensive everything is in this room, really goes to show that its not the budget it is the person and keep up that makes a neat and simple room.
your approach to minimalism is inspiring to say the least. i’m not one myself but this makes it seem much more intriguing and attainable than some others that i have seen on youtube.
Minimalism is subjective and everyone has different view and style. I love your style,to me its more realistic. My room is small too,my bed is on the floor,i have two very small cabinet. I put my mirror on it,my hygiene product and for another cabinet i put my watch and shoes.I have two rack for my clothes and a couple of hooks for all of my nicnac jewellery item and pin collection.I also have a 120cm floor table and i do most of my stuff there. Tbh i feel like i have "too much stuff" to call myself a minimalist but tbh im happy for what i have now tho.I have a lot of clothes,it took a lot of space in my room but i enjoy fashion and i took pride into it. I did get rid of my bed frame a few days ago since i tend to put a lot of junk under it.I did sort thing and organize as i hide things underneath my bed but it just look a bit messy. Im only 16 year old so i feel like my view on minimalist and style will change significant as i grow but at least im in the process. 🇲🇾
Hello, don't change you. Keep sleeping the way you are used to sleeping. Also I have some suggestions:1: you can paint the closet white, gray, or some other masculine color for a change and change out the hardware handles on it too, 2:the tripod pole that's taking up space on the floor, you can find online, in stores something that you can mount inside of your closet or walls to hang it on, and finally, you can put up more shelves on the wall for your plants and get them off of the floor. God Bless from the USA
this is soo refreshing take on minimalism. many people often associate minimalism with the sparseness of stuff and/or the simple, sleek aesthetic. this video just encapsulates the real essence of minimalism: being intentional with everything! great video :))
Your room looks great. And I love that you keep some items tucked away just because you like them. There will always be stuff like that I keep, though it's far less than it used to be. It's funny how having some items like that can remind me of how I visualize myself.
I really like that you still show many items since the begining of me watching your channel (I think I joined when there were 15.000 subscribers 😊). That’s not only minimalistic but also eco friendly 😃 and I really enjoy your three or more person “shots” while doing different things, so cool! Keep up the good work 💪🏼💪🏽💪🏾
Thanks. A lot of people live in one room. It is small and you can get tired of it but hopefully you will endure. I live in a motorhome and my total living space is 190 square feet. I tried to calculate that into meters but my app was not working. Anyway, it was crammed a few years ago and it was a tight space. After decluttering I have more room. I didn't like the fake wood paneling so I painted it all white. That has made such a big difference. You might want to paint the cabinet. A nice neutral can give a feeling of calm even though the big thing is still there. At least it will help to hide all the things.
1) I do away with my bolster to keep my bed even more minimal. 2) I thought your plants were fake, but in that way, it means you took care of them so well that they look so great (like fake)! 3) Consider getting a wall fan instead of a stand fan. Wall fan is easier to install than ceiling fan but ceiling fan does look aesthetically better.
I absolutely love your room so much, and appreciate your honesty. Not a lot of furniture but just the right amount of decor and your plants were my favorite part of this video. Thank you for sharing.
Our house has a lot of furniture that we got from the side of the road or for free via online. Lots of wear marks, some paint splatters, chips, dents.. it's generally all really old but durably made furniture, I like it a lot; free doesn't matter so much, it is more about taking items out of the waste stream and giving them an extended useful life, rather than chucking something just cos it looks a bit worn out aesthetically. Makes me appreciate it a lot more.
I've always been fond of tiny homes and your house is great with that window in it. With regards to your stuff, I think it's more since am suffering from 'get-rid-of-everything disease' mentioned by Fumio Sasaki in his book Goodbye, things🤪🤪
Thanks for the honest and realistic video. I feel like it represents a majority of us who are trying to balance between minimalism and the reality of life. In my view, the real you is the videos you make. Although you “hide” things from viewers to make it look like the ideal minimalist, your ability to do that in your videos and your artistic eye for creating the content that you do really show the true beauty that you have inside... keep up the great work....
this guy makes me laugh out loud. I love his sense of humor and hilarious comments like the alarm clock haha. I love his accent and personality. Thanks for a cool video
Thanks for the room tour! You could probably put removable wall paper on the surface of your closet to tidy it up and make it stand out less in the space, even just plain white.
Your room is super cool! I’ve always really liked your windows. I like the wardrobe, too! Don’t change it. Think of it as wabi-sabi! It’s so interesting seeing homes in other parts of the world, seeing how and where different people live. Did your big filming light survive the crash? 😬 And your iconic plant? 🌱 Hope so!!
I love your windows especially! Have you thought of painting your wardrobe closet? Sometimes a coat of paint can help make things more interesting! I painted my terrible kitchen cabinet with leftover oil paints I had. It took forever to dry but it was worth it!
I relate so much with your videos. Not only with concepts and thoughts but also because of aesthetics. Let me explain: I live on Brazil (in a hot and semiarid part of it, to be more specific) and I never could relate with the space's aesthetics of north-american or european content creators because... I don't wear sweaters or have problems related to cold weather, for example. There's not a pine forest nearby, furniture style is different, people usually wear shorts and flipflops or walk barefoot when in home - summing up: almost everything looks a little different. Sometimes I hit myself thinking that my reality isn't "stylish" enough, but that's because I compare myself with these people. I instantly bound with yours videos because everything looks so much like as my home. :)
Rooms goals! For the light dome, you could consider Elgato's Key Light as an alternative for lighting up your room. Since it's primarily used for streaming, you could hack a way to attach to a tripod which takes up minimal surface area.
refreshing to see how you make do with what you have and what's there instead the standard overstyled minimalists room you see so often. keep up the good work
Cheng, you`re awesome, man! It`s not the size of the living space or the condition of your furniture what matters but the mindset of how you fill it. I like the way you thinking, keep up the good job!
Hi CK, you could uplift the look of your built in wardrobe with new custom wardrobe doors or find something from IKEA that fits, or get it repainted! The worn look of the desk looks good
Its great! You could make the room look aesthetics but you choose to make a room that suitable to do anything, whatever you want to do, i like your room!🤩
Hey the structure of that wardrobe is quite beautiful with that typical asian classic style. I think if you take of the handles, paint it black and them use a minimal type handle, maybe leather tags for a bit of a cool vibe, it will look amazing. Also, paint the wall and door beside it in black then the whole thing morphs into a wall and looks tidier. Just a thought.
Love this video! Made me laugh so much that you are happy with life's little idiosyncracies, your white cabinet that is only clean when you are filming and your pot plant smashing to the ground during filming. So fun!
I am not really sure if I am wasting my time watching this video because I am entertained by your humor 😆 the realistic explanations and honesty is an on point of humor. Nice content bro, keep it up 🤙
Cheng, so very very excited you decided to do this. Like seriously, man! I am so happy. I have been waiting for this video I don't know for how long. I haven't watched the video yet, but, seeing the title "Room tour" I couldn't stop from commenting 😂. Keep shining👌💪
Thanks for the support Ajay! I've been waiting for the right time to do this video but i just didn't know when. I guess there's no right time for it! 😅
HAHAHAHAHA! I love the artwork! I'm amazed by what you keep too, still very minimalist, very raw and Singaporean. Having a bed frame makes vacuuming easier, I think having a small room means you got to be a minimalist in order to live in peace (w/o clutter and shifting furniture or things around)!
Finally a room tour! 😄 I enjoyed it very much, it was inspiring to me, specially the plants decluttering part. I am a huuuge plant lover. In my bedroom only I have 28 plants... 3 of them are big... And my room is not that big. I love plants, they are beautiful and bring me joy. I don't know how to cut them back to only 5 or 10 even. You could paint that big closet black 🖤😊 Sending greetings all away from Poland 🇵🇱👋✌️
thank you for sharing your own minimalist space, it is very nice and obviously works in a multi-purposeful and functional way. You also have some nice natural plant life :-)
I want to see your 'minimalist' workout routine! In this quarantine I am unable to go to the gym so I'm planning to buy few weights and rods. Please post a video of your workout routine!
Thanks for sharing your room!! I am glad as a minimalist you still showed the messy part of your room😂 Because I think it's is normal to have some messy stuff even though calling myself a minimalist. Sometimes I think the 100% minimal-looking room coming from magazine is not realistic. I also have some messy stuff which I'm considering to give away for a long time. Cheers man! 🙌
Moved a shelf to underneath the plant on the wall right there right to the right of your TV and then move your TV up onto the wall then you'll have more space to use as a countertop where the TV's at now hope that is helpful to you

I totally agree, Denisse. I'm more of a "frugal and happily mismatched" extreme-ish minimalist also.
A minimalist room is not one that is empty, but one that is the perfect environment for whatever you do. Very interesting video hahaha!
Always with the beautiful words, appreciate that Ryan! Glad that you enjoyed it!

I like your way to being a minimalist, look so humble and simple and that's gets closer to the nucleus of the concept of minimalism.

Never thought of that, but might try it in the future!👍
Yeah...same thoughts.. to paint your closet white 🙂
But be careful. This could make the whole thing worse!
