"And though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil." (from Psalm 23) Here is courage and comfort. But we are encouraged and comforted in our sure hope in Christ alone.. If a loved one dies in Him we look to our regathering at His call. If we die before Christ calls us up to Him, our soul/spirit goes to be with God and our body, which is perishable in the flesh, will be made brand new and eternal when we are awakened at the "Rapture" which is Christ's calling His bride up to Him above. "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you" (Hebrews 13:5). Hence we can confidently say, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?" (Hebrews 13:6).

How can someone hear the "good" news? Romans chapter 10: verse 17 Then faith comes from hearing and hearing by the word of God.

Romans 10:
13 For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. 14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how will they believe in the one from whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? 15 And how will they preach if they are not sent? as it is written, how beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace and bring good news of good things!

Isaiah chapter 7: verse 14: "Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, bear a son, and call his name Immanuel." Hebrew: עִמָּנוּאֵל, "God with us" in human flesh as a man but without sin. The Savior of the world was born to die for our sins! And He did so some 33 years later. Salvation, the forgiveness of sins, is available to anyone who trusts in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Those who have rejected the free gift of salvation, see John 3: 16 above, will "perish", which means suffer judgment of their sins and eternal separation from God and the Family of God on earth and in Heaven called "the second death" Rev.21:8.
