I have never experienced an Onsen. What puts me off is the high temperature of the bath 🥵
Haha well it’s all a learning curve not to start with but then you get used to it and some onsen have multiple temp baths to choose from :)

Onsen is one of my top things to do!
I'm planning a stop at Kinosaki Onsen durning my upcoming trip next year. I have tattoos and my husband is self conscious about undressing in an Onsen so I thought that it was out of the question but after I learned that Kinosaki is ok with tattoos I looked into it and I managed to find a Ryokan with private baths available so my husband can still go even if he doesn't feel comfortable in the public baths
It's fantastic that you have been so proactive. After all I think Onsen is available to all but sometimes we need to do our research and be proactive! I hope you have a great trip and would love it if you could share with us your experience!

Nice video. I wanted to go to a traditional Ryokan onsen, but no one else wanted to pay the extra expense. Modern onsen's just didn't happen to work with the travel time table we were on. Sometimes price was a consideration with these as well. The Hotel Shi-on looked like a spot I'd like to stay at. When you showed the dinner, and mentioned juicy steak, I'm going to have to see if I can fit it into my budget, because Morioka is on my list of places in Japan to visit. Damn why can't I win the lottery than price wouldn't be a consideration.
