In 1952, when this video was first made, scientists hadn't observed this effect in action yet. This was all theoretical until 1956. And it worked just as this video explains it, 4 years before the actual observation
    Science is amazing.

All respect for the wonderful and brilliant experimental presentation. Unfortunately, not many people appreciate the science of physics

I think this is one of the movies mentioned in the Feynman lecture series. Dated but still fundamental, clear and accurate at least on the two dimensional hexagon pattern.

Just read about this in JD Watson's book The Double Helix, did a quick search et voila! Pretty cool.

Such an awesome video....our modern 3D animations are not good at creating this impact of reality...

I love BUBBLES!!! I know I'm suppose to be wrong... BUT EVERYTHING IS JUST A BUBBLE!!! Big bubbles layering over smaller bubbles... those smaller bubbles are made of smaller bubbles.... over and over and over again....
is a bubble a sphere?? YES... but what happens when it cools or freezes?? How much pressure and surface tension would be needed for a bubble to change shape?? ALOT!!! Like Big Bang level stuff... maybe something the size of our sun could do it??? Not to mention sound waves are just bubbles too!!! Light isn't a bubble... photons aren't what they think. Philipp Lenard was right and wrong... light doesn't travel like a wave!!! All matter does!!! Energy??? Is that bound by inertia?? NOPE!
But does the wave wobble or does the wobble wave??
Ring bubbles, sphere bubbles, wobbly bubbles, twisting bubbles, wavey bubbles.... bubbles bubbles bubbles!!!
