I have the Laco Aachen. Mine is a Type B with a flat black dial and C3 lume. Mine came in a brown leather strap and has a brushed finish on the case. It's picked up a few minor knocks and scratches over the years but still looks awesome. Fantastic watch.
Congratulations on your new Laco! That blue dial looks good! I went a bit more traditional in my Laco choice: Mülheim an der Ruhr (Type A dial, 39 mm, handwind). I like the fact that Laco's Pilot Watch Original line is true to the original case design of the German Beobachtungsuhren.
I bought an Augsburg 42 a couple of years ago. Great watch for the money. I am going to end up giving it away shortly as there is one detail that I just cannot seem to get over and hopefully it helps someone else thinking about getting an Augsburg moving forward (who has the same neuroses as I do). You may also want to mention this to Laco since you have a relationship with them. I think with the Type A Fliegers, Laco seems to have the dial and markers perfectly proportioned for the 39, but with the 42, when I look at it now, it doesn't look like they increased the proportionate markers and hands and this does result in quite a bit of central "deadspace". It just looks a bit unbalanced to me. Would be interested to see if anyone else thinks that, but that is my subtle super nerdy neurotic opinion. But again, something to consider if someone is spending a good amount of their money on this watch and hoping it be a super big part of their collection.
Before Christmas I was seriously thinking of getting the Aachen with the leather strap in black, but I wasn’t sure of the size 39 or 42. I have a 7 1/4” wrist. Mark at Long Island Watches texted me to go with the 42. Also, I am not used to a watch without a date window. Anyway, great video 👍
Very nice. I particularly agree re the lug width though. With the dial bein the majority of the case the 18mm almost makes the watch a bit bulbous to my eye.
If you're going original maker I'd definitely step up to the higher quality Sellita models which are around the £900 mark depending on specification. At this price you could also consider Stowa who also make good watches. If I were going bargain basement I'd probably go micro or Ali brand since the flieger style is probably one of the easiest specs to copy. For those on tight budgets though these Lacos are a great option.
That is a good one for sure! It can't hold a candle to the Laco though in my opinion because of the name on the dial. Laco is actually one of the original 5!
It'll have a requirement to earn the stamp. Usually a % of the cost of the watch and it'll be assembled in Germany too. More than likely the case and crystal are produced in Germany (but this is just a guess)
That looks good. I've had my eye on a Laco. Will be adding one to the collection at some point. I'm glad you got something extra out of your bad situation with that UK retailer.
I dont own a Laco but I want one. They are my favorite German brand! The Luftwaffe were strict in their selection so they had to be (Pardon the pun hehe) "Top Tier" since back in the day! This looks incredible! none of these flaws are a deal breaker so I would gladly pick one up! Im super glad things worked out for you man! Take care Kieron!
Very cool. This watch is awesome. I am also a WW2 Buff. If you want an Original Five Flieger, I would go Laco every time. The fact I can’t afford the other ones does play a factor though. 🧐 Thanks for the great review!
I had a black Aachen and liked it so much, I bought a blue one, too, but I found I never wore the black one once the blue arrived - Purists won't like it, but I don't really want to look like a Nazi bomber pilot, so I'm happy to enjoy the Aachen Blau for what it is, a lovely super legible watch.

Glad it all worked out, Kieron! ...and a great new watch to add to the collection.
I Love my Orient Pilot sport (Mk1) with the blue dial. I've put a Dylon flieger leather strap and boom!
Glad Laco got you your watch finally. They have a full Lume dial on one of their models, but couldn’t find it. Know which one that is?

I think this is far less of an issue on the Aachen cause of the addition of the central numbers and markings
Happy new year!
Cheers mate! And you! (I'm sure this is the 3rd time we've said it to each other 🤣)
Nice. Love your channel. Cheers from Chicago. 🍺
Thank you brother! Cheers! 😎
And from the burbs, too!
You do a great job! Well done.
Thank you mate! Appreciate you watching
I like the leather strap.

Congrats Kieran…on all counts… 😉

Made up for ya, great watch, the OG in fact. Am I rightin thinking theres a manual winder as well?
You fixed your tooth! Way to go, you’re looking sharp.
Haha! See what you did there! 👈🤣
im not a fan of flieger wactch but Laco makes the best i’ve seen at affordable price..
It's a seriously sweet watch. I've barely taken it off since I got it!
AT LAST !! 🙂
I know! 😆 Better late than never
the watch works better with the Grey NATO strap which is what I got.
It does look great on a nato too. And that grey one is sweet!
Best flieghier is the seiko 5 snk809

During WWII many Japanese pilots wore The Seikosha Tensoku watch, it did the same thing, had radium paint and looks a bit like a roulette wheel to me.
And a bit directional bezel... There has been a reissue as well.
That’s a fantastic option 👍👍
This video is like the second season of SAS Rogue Heroes. I've been waiting ages for it , and it was over too quick. 😂 Ano5grezt review Kizz.
So, what does 'Made in...' mean? The movement isn't German, are all other parts? Or is this more "Assembled in...' ?

@ Ok, cool. Must look into that a bit more to understand it better.

Like you say, not traditional at all. But certainly more stylish and comfier than the originals 👌😎

Rapid! Cheers for watching
