This is why mellophone
the most instrument ever
The instrument of all time
its one of the instruments
Same
this is the instrument i think
As a mellophone player (derogatory) it truly is the instrument ever
the instrument ever.. i love that
- a fellow mellophone player (unfortunately)
@@jenn4tools788 nah, we love and respect the mellos
-a trumpet player (fortunately)
@@dylanlee496 we love mellophones when they put in work.
- a baritone commit (fortunately)
@@sinfulls704 u can’t be a brass player and not be committed. If u are, ur not really a brass player at that point. Brass is a mindset, not a instrument family
Honestly as a trumpet i would play horn if it wasnt for its concert variation, i js hate the sound but marching def
I loved the part where the Mellos said “it’s mello’n time” and then they mello’d all over the place
Post Mello’n time
Holy hell, I love this clip so much. One of the wildest mellophone runs of all time
here to bring us algorithm explorers together once again
Yep
thank u
as a mellophone player (derogatory and non-derogatory), i can confirm it is one of the instruments EVER made.
wow some of them are going up the octave! nice
just wanna say I’m a huge fan of your music and I’m glad you enjoyed it
Ah yes, crazy fast Mello rips. Love it.
Ah the prestigious mello rips. Absolutely amazing clip.
It’s even more insane than the original brass band parts 😂
this is truly the moment when the mello phoned
mello is an instrument that exists
As a mellophone I can confirm, we get awesome parts, but there almost always unplayable
This is a real DCI meme right here
Ah yes, the mellophone, the most instrument ever
I still have nightmares from when we played s 21st shuffle my freshman year of high school. Those 16th note runs with braces and its your first time playing the instrument... *shudders*
Mello rips are just *chefs kiss*
This is from near the end of the second movement of Cadets 1998 show “Stonehenge.” The color guard is in the back right corner of the field playing with all the different colored flags, then the silent drill, then the horn line comes back in with the mellophone playing those crazy licks.
this is so to epic
algorithm moment
I hope those that watch these videos can appreciate all of the infinitely hard work they do during the summer, touring the nation, sleeping in gymnasiums, and playing probably the most complex music they'll ever play in their lives, not to mention the drill as well.
The arranger like: "I'll just write some bs, they'll play it anyway"
Definitely one of the instruments of all time.
Meanwhile us baritones playing long tones in the back with nothing to do
Gotta love how random Mello parts are.
Definitely a championship worthy mello line
This is why i love jay bocook mello books
the sheet music of ever all time
Remember when corps used to haul ass and play at the same time? Pepperidge Farm remembers.
And also sound terrible
@@zachgreenwalt3168 fair. I certainly don't miss G bugles and the pre-2000s sound.
@@hostrauer My highschool band director had us haul ass and play at the same time. What made it worse was that we were not on mellos, but on marching french horns. Meanwhile the bands that won the state competitions were the ones that had much easier drill. I never cared much about the competition, but it would have been nice to play mello.
@@zachgreenwalt3168 It sounded glorious to me and was impressive to watch. The staff members of those times are still teaching...***. Matt Harloff....
0:03 Matt Harloff sighting!
Euphonium players are probably like: "I could do that if my arms didn't hurt"
Play mellophone they said, it’ll be easy they said… 🎺
Bloody hellfire
Need more dci content here thank you
As a mellophone player (extremely derogatory) I can confirm the cadets are one of the drum corps of all time
This why im in the mello gang
Yep about sums it up
nobody:
mellophones: 🏃🏃🏃
Hated french horn, but loved playing mellophone.
Definitely the BEST reason to play Mellophone.
what did i just hear
I am in TOTAL awe 😮. Win.
But also #godawgs
Nothing finer in the land than the GEORGIA Redcoat Marching Band.❤#godawgs
But for real. Melophone for the win forever ❤🎉!
"It's just a scale."
as a former trumpet player who switched to mello(and horn)mello is the best
As a tuba player I respect the mellos
Me when mellophone
what is the mellophone? thanks!
A transgender trumpet
@@bartholomewtheapostle_real As a Mellophone player it's so ture 😂😂😂
@@trhat I would call it a bell-front horn for french horn players in marching band, though, as the "marching french horn" is actually a different instrument in the key of B flat.
are there links to the music for the full show? id love to see it.
The main reason to play mellophone is because you can make it sound exactly like a horse.
Oh this is just about the lick? I was a soprano player in the 90’s and I thought the best reason was that mellophones get the good licks. So what’s the worst reason? I guess you’re saying the worst reason is there haven’t been any good licks in over 20 years, huh? 😂
you should play mello!
i love french horn so much but apparently im more valuable as a good tuba player so the only song i can play is a very bad cantina music from star wars
Jan van der Roost was smoking way too much crack when he wrote this
and then concert season comes along and all the horn parts suck
As a mello player i always complain and go "why dont they just give this to the trumpets".
Then its "we're the only ones who CAN".
The actual worst reason is that we can’t see the drum majors past the gigantic bell
bro its so funny when we all turn in sync to see the drum majors when they shift a bit while we're in a horn arch
@@pinetrees92 factssssss
Whats drum major?
@@miscstuff7824 essentially a marching conductor
this is the reason to play it. why do you think i switched from trumpet after two seasons? (definitely (totally) not because of the section)
wait is the beginning up an octave or am i hearing a different part?
it does sound like that, there might’ve been a higher split played by the leads, or it might be a result of transposing from G to F
@@shibe.mp4it's definitely an upper split in the melloe
This is a bruh
ill think about it
Mellophone: a Trumpet French horn mix.
What show
Meme time: could you film this on something other than a piece of asparagus
What corps and year is this?
Cadets 1998
wait a minute… i play mello 🫢
Funny, they didn’t need to SPLAT and OVERBLOW like SCV ‘18.
Who is this?
What show is this
Cadets 1998. It's an awesome show
what corps was this
nvm
hi
hi!!!!!
Mellophone in C 😃
I’m sorry could you say that again
This actually doesn't seem that difficult once you actually learn it. I've heard harder mello stuff from recent Blue Devils and Crown shows
But you’ve gotta understand the difference in development between 1998-2022. I march at a fairly large marching band high school and we have drill in our show that our director showed us reminded him of stuff from the #1 dci band from like 1999-2006. Marching band is a fast changing performing art.
@@ohyeahididthat8547 lol.. Everything is playable after you learn it. We do make it sound easy, though.
Today's corps do more Double tonguing more than anything else. imo. The 90s had some good Mello run writings. Anyway Matt Harloff was part of the staff for this show. Wish he would get them to add a couple of random mello licks. Like this.
"akshually it's not that hard when you can do it 🤓🤓"
I am the Mello in the white shirt.
I played mellophone in high school. Worst mistake of my life.
Is there even a point in having sheet music for this 😂😂😂
Only reason why these parts are hard to play is because of the tempo! At 192 your pushing yourself to play that part. Otherwise if you were to slow it down and play it at maybe 112 or 100 it won’t be that bad. But of course DCI makes it look so hard because your moving at 192. Same thing goes with percussion as well. Playing parts at 192 is different from playing it at a slower pace!
Tf is a mellophone
Its a marching french horn. Looks like a large trumpet.
@@coltonkabele5706 thx
I guess people do look up stuff anymore. lol.. the world of technology at our hands instead of going to the library( what's that?). lol.
