good that they disconnected the main driveshaft then so the fantastic gearbox didnt sustain any damage. then its only a little bit of rubbing and vaxing to repair the very minor damage to the corner on the cab. our neighbors country sweden have very efficient polishvax produced by saab. i wish we had the same quality in norway
The towing companies are not allowed to cause any more damage to the truck. They have to transport it as intact as possible until the insurance company has done their job.
This is totally different to "tow truck madness" or whatever those crazy TV-series are called. You knw what I mean, those where people are yelling at each other, creating dangerous situations for each other and has to do everything in very short time so "Joe Schmauck" doesnt have to wait for them to finish properly.
What is the purpose of the two steering wheels? Stability? Or is one an extra drive axle, or both perhaps? Those are some nice looking and powerful trucks.
It bothered me that at times there were people standing in same line as the pulling cables, so that if they broke or disconnected someone would get hurt
it is extremely unlikely those cables will break in this application. They can hold many times more weight than what's put on them and they have to be inspected regularly for the trucks to be legal to use, and replaced if there's even one broken strand anywhere on the cable
@@thesteelrodent1796 yes of course you’re correct however my concern also is the stability of the connection/hook and any underlying structure that the force is passing thru, should anything release it will be just the same or worse than the cable breaking. I’d just like seeing them out of the line of danger or a cable arrestor of some sort.
And again, as in more videos, we see unsave behavior of the operators, coming close to lifted vehicles or cables under tension. Time fore some additional safety training!
These breakdown crews are exceptionally skilled , really good work .
Always loved the look of trucks in Northern Europe. Great styling like their cars. I wish they looked like this in the US.
Interesting opinion, almost everyone I talk to thinks the American Trucks look way better. /Swedish Truckdriver.
I like the explanation as the tape rolls. Good work
Thanks!
Top equipment and efficiency. Well done.
Good narrative.! Helped a lot! Thanks.
Lucky driver, correct words! Gratulation to your second birthday.
I think the gearbox is not the problem for this Scania...

A gearbox an engine is well over 1 million SEK in value so they save a lot of money discontent in the driveshaft

RIP Scania R series (Streamline)
What company makes the carrier for the Volvo in this video? I understand a wheel lift on a carrier but an underreach?
Probably Boniface. They're a UK firm that specialises in recovery truck rebuilds.
This volvo fm12 how many hp?

It's done in order to reach a higher weight rating. It doesn't improve manoeuvrability compared to just 1 steering axle.
Жёстко!
Hur gick det med föraren förresten?
Enligt lokaltidningen så klarade han sej nästan oskadd.
ADVideofilm tack, det ser ju riktigt jävla illa ut
What did the recovery truck firm charge for this recovery?? I bet its well into 4 figures!
Hi! The price for hiring a heavy recovery truck in Sweden is about 2 500 SEK/ hour.
Thanks

Kardanaxel = drive shaft
Ja jag hörde från min kompis att det blev fel. Tack iallafall för informationen!
Ja den var väl kanske inte helt korrekt :P
Propeller shaft in UK.
Another great vid! Do you know what happened to the truck after? New cab fitted? Or chassis twisted? 👍
I'd guess that is a total write-off, sadly. No way the insurance company would pay for the repairs of that truck...
I guess some parts can be sold as used spareparts.
Written off for sure. But the insurance company can recover a good portion of its money by selling the gearbox and at least the short block.
