      it is basically taking over the life of a video game character haha die oh no problem we will just spawn you back at the checkpoint and you have to do it all over again die, respawn and slowly learn new strategies on how to make it through the level. As a video gamer you get an extra little joy out of this movie because every game puts you through this exact scenario as this movie does.

      A J Rodriguez It's all scripted. What are the odds Tom mentions laser disc's and Jimmy has one behind his desk. They know what they're going to talk about on the show.

    • @HowardSupra
      @HowardSupra 9 років тому +11

      Phuck Ewe Not completely, the actor/actress gives guidelines on what they won't talk about and what they have to talk about (Movie plugs) but other then that the interviewer is free to ask anything they want. Some interviewers will go over which specific questions they're going to ask but you can tell a lot of jimmy's questions the actor/actress doesn't really expect. Also Jimmy could've found out through a mutual friend that he liked laser disks and brought it in just to give them something to talk about.

    • @chrismhp
      @chrismhp 9 років тому +5

      Phuck Ewe Come on, like the guy above me mentioned, late night interviews are only planned out as far as what topics they're going to talk about and so forth. Obviously if they have a Top Gun disc there its gonna come up, but you honestly thought Jimmy putting the laser disc away like that was something scripted? Haha.

    Top Gun, Rain Man, Mission Impossible 1 and 4, Eyes Wide Shut, The Color of Money, Magnolia, A Few Good Men, The Last Samurai, Collateral, Edge of Tomorrow, The Firm, Days of Thunder, Vanilla Sky, The Outsiders, Risky Business, Jack Reacher, Minority Report, Jerry Maguire, Interview with the Vampire, Born on the fourth of July, Oblivion, Far and Way, 3 Oscar nominations, 3 Golden Globe wins and 4 Golden Globe nominations, 450$ Million Dollar net worth and 100 million dollar box office hit with his name alone(Vanilla Sky). The best actor of all time ladies and gentlemen.

    • @keepingupwiththehalsteads805
      @keepingupwiththehalsteads805 6 років тому +18

      first box office money is not a marker of the film's greatness. Second all adwards, especially Oscars are abt marketing and are subjective - like Marlon Brando once said&he was 100% right. And Brando brings me to the third point - Cruise was fantastic actor back in the day (coz now his movies suck, sorry to tell u) but news flash there are still ppl like Al Pacino, De Niro, Caine, Tom Hanks, Daniel Day-Lewis, Hoffman, Denzel Washington, Christian Bale, Di Caprio and past legends like Brando himself. So nope, Cruise the best actor ever ? Please what a joke!

      ***** Your comment makes no sense, but congrats on being proud of yourself for making it. I brought up real things that scientology has done to victimize people, and Cruise is one of the top guys of that group....you made up a long hypothetical rant about someone you have no real personal information about. Good one?

    • @johnjancar6152
      @johnjancar6152 9 років тому +1

      2legit2sh!t Well hate to break it you pal, but you completely missed the point lol Which for you, I would imagine is probably the story of your life.
      The point is, I can hate you, and dislike you, for any tangential relationship or association, any circumstance, any situation or life event, that I deem to be unworthy of my respect. Any decision you make, any action you take, that in any way, is not the upmost in perfection. I can say what a loser you are, for probably many reasons ,and it would probably be legitimate, even if you won't admit it on UA-cam. There's probably many things in your life, that would be deemed pretty bad, and loseresque, and downright stupid...and I can dislike you and judge you for that.
      But I won't do that, because that's a stupid thing to do. To judge people based on, especially their religion, is about as dumb as you can get. You might not believe in Scientology, you might not like it, you might have some bias against it, but if Tom Cruise decides he finds some meaning in it, he finds some good things he takes out of it, he finds it helps him in his life...well then, you should say, okay I respect that, I might not agree with it, but I can understand what it does for you, and I accept it.
      Instead, you come out, with some attitude, about how Scientology is a bad thing, for brainwashing people and taking their money. Which, a) You probably never even studied Scientology and know next to nothing about it, and b) This is something basically every religion does. And clearly you know next to nothing about religion, or spirituality, or even Scientology, so you couldn't understand even half of what it's trying to say, or why someone like Tom Cruise would be interested in it.
      And I'm not into Scientology, okay lol So let's get that straight. I have studied it though, and I can understand why people believe in it. Just like I can understand why people would believe, in any religion. It might not be something I would believe in, but I can understand why people would. And why would I, then, judge them, for what ultimately is a very personal decision for which there is no right or wrong answer.
      And to understand this, you would have to have some glimmer of spiritual awareness, which for you, I would imagine you probably don't. So everything I wrote probably went right over your head. And that's okay. That's fine. You can not believe anything you want, and I shouldn't be some idiot, and say what an idiot you are, for not believing in it. And you shouldn't say, what an idiot Tom Cruise is, and hating Tom Cruise fundamentally, because he believes in the creeds of a religion, in which some members in that religion act in a not so pure way.
      Do you say all Muslims are bad because some Muslims strap bombs to their chest and blow people up, no, that would be stupid. So would you say, that Tom Cruise is bad for believing in Scientology teachings, because some of the members of that group do some not so good things.
      I doubt Tom Cruise believes in brainwashing and stealing peoples money lol He believes in the creeds, so why would you lump him in there with the people who might be acting that way.
      There's a big problem people have, of collectivizing everything, and lumping people into one group instead of looking at them as individuals. There's a major problem stupid people have, of playing this Guilt By Association game with other people. Well some black people are thugs and ghetto, that means all black people are bad. Some Muslims are terrorists and have extreme ideologies, that means all Muslims are bad, and Islam itself is bad. No,that's not it works, genius. You can't collectivize everything and lump people into one group, for any tangential relationship or association. And same with Cruise and Scientology.
      Do you understand now. Do you get it now. Probably not lol

    • @johnjancar6152
      @johnjancar6152 9 років тому +1

      2legit2sh!t And in case you didn't get that, which I imagine you probably didn't quite frankly, let me put this in other terms.
      You have a friend who takes drugs. I can hate you for being friends with a druggie. And if you take drugs yourself, it's even worse and I can hate you even more.
      You like football. I can hate you for liking football, because football is a sport where idiots bash each others brains out chasing a ball. And if you play football and aren't good at it, that's even worse, and I can hate you even more.
      You work at McDonalds. I can hate you, for working at McDonalds, because McDonalds serves unhealthy food that makes people fat and helps shorten their life span. And if you had other job options, and took McDonalds because it's easier or closer to your house, I can hate you even more because you're a lazy bum.
      See what I mean. You can take any situation, any tangential relationship, and find something to dislike about it. You can hate football players for liking football. But here's the thing...if they like football..then they like football. Just because you don't like football, does that mean everyone is supposed to dislike football. No. Does that mean people who like football are bad because you don't like football. No. It's stupid to think that. It's a personal choice and preference, and there is no right or wrong answer to whether people should like football or not.
      And it's the same for religion. People who find meaning in a religion, and are preferential to that religion, that's how it is. That's them and their own choice and their own path. I might not believe in it, because just because I don't believe in it, that doesn't mean they are wrong for believing in it. There is no right or wrong answer. They are preferential to it, they believe in it, so you have to respect that.
      Especially when you don't even have the answers, do you know how life works, do you how God works, do you know if God is even there. NO, you have no idea. You just have some belief, or lack of belief, and think people are wrong because they don't like think like you.
      If Cruise wants to believe in Scientology, that's his personal choice. That's his preference, he finds meaning in it, he finds purpose in it, that's a good thing. It's not a bad thing. Just because I don't believe in it, does that mean I am in some position to criticize him for believing in it, when I don't even have the answers. No. It's just a simple lack of belief. I don't have the answers. You don't have the answers.
      How can you tell Muslims they are wrong for believing in Islam, when you don't even have the right answers. You can't tell them how God works, you can't tell them how life works. You just say, I don't believe in that, and you're stupid for believing in it. That's stupid. Because, you don't have the answers. You don't have the secrets of the universe.
      What religion or creeds people choose to believe in, is a very personal individual choice. Many of which, there is no right or wrong answer. It's just preference. Just like basketball isn't any better than football, and people who play basketball are better than people who play football. No. It's individual preference and choices, there is no right or wrong, better or worse choice.
      So to hate Tom Cruise, for believing in Scientology. is borderline retarded. Hating Muslims for believing in Allah, is borderline retarded. Hating black people because some black people are thugs, is borderline retarded. It's just stupid people and their opinions, and that's all they are. Opinions. But for the sake of civilization, keep your opinions to yourself. Because you don't know the answers, so you just have to stay in your corner, and say, okay this is my corner...you can have your corner, because I can't prove your corner is wrong. I don't have to hate you, because I don't believe in your corner.
      Do you get it now. Probably not lol

      The wikipedia article doesn't even "clearly explain why it's a religion and not a cult". It clearly explains that Scientology uses the legal definition of some places to define itself as a religion and that in some countries it's considered a cult, legally. By definition of the word "cult", Scientology is a cultl

      +TheWowwa clearly you haven't seen many of his interviews, he always talks over the guest and tries to steal the glow in the bits.
      He is someone that really wanted to be a star/celebrity, failed, and is doing interviews. He isn't a Lenno or Letterman that know how to let others talk and sell their brand.

    I did the same thing in high school. Instead of buying a car I bought a 4500 dollar stereo system with laserdisc player and badass speakers. I would buy laserdiscs at this small store that specialized in CDs and lasers freaking loved those times. Still have about only 30 of the discs. In 1999 when DVDs became huge I traded in about 200 of my laserdisc for DVDs and I kind of regret doing it since I had some real obscure and cool ones. Still kept my original Star war trilogy boxset from before 1997 and my THX 1138 1971 original movie.

    movie idea (will make billions): tom cruise and jimmy fallon play twin brothers and cameron diaz has to decide which one she truly loves. they go to great lengths to win her affection - ex. tom climbs mount everest to plant a flag with her face on it; jimmy writes a song for her that he performs with pearl jam at wrigley field. produced by lionsgate, titled "Me or My Brother"

    It's great to hear people who can have it all talk about vinyl records. Here's a couple of guys who can afford to have their favorite artist show up and play for them live, but the next best thing for them is not downloads, not CD, but good ole vinyl records!!! I totally agree, vinyl on a good system sounds more natural and true to the music than any digital format I've heard - Long live Vinyl!!!

      My teachers would take a laser disc out of the box and pass it around the class. We would carefully look at it and take notes for 20 minutes. Then, after we were done, the teacher would flip the disc over and pass it around again, and we would spend another 20 minutes taking notes.

      You wouldn't be saying that if you knew the first thing about Scientology
      I mean just for openers if their religion is so wonderful why is it bathed in real controversy ? Every fucking thing about it is hidden and secretive ,and try finding anything out about their secrets .
      They will make your life hell.
      I have no time for religion full stop but at very least Christians do anything but hide away and keep secrets .They can't wait to spread the word
      Cruise is an actor .He can "seem" however he chooses to be seen to the public .Thats his main line of work
      Watch him , like him ..don't .. I don't care .I just know a massive fraud when I see one and most people nowadays are cottoning on to the giant money making scheme passing itself off as a religion
      It's nothing but bullshit .
