Best Fly Away bass cover on UA-cam. I would know, I watched them all. Don't know why since I'm a guitar player, but I'm basically a UA-cam Fly Away bass cover quality expert now. I award you 1 internet good sir. Please, try not to spend it all in one place. Oh, and hide it from your drummer, he probably owes some other people at least a few and may be getting desperate.
great playing man, a shame that you gave up on the channel. for me it's always just been about playing bass, and never really worried about sub/view count.
I hear that man, it's always about the music for me too, regardless of how people accept it/likes/subs. On the other hand, It's very time consuming and I work a 9-5, so I'm not really in a position to put much time into it, as much as I would like anyways. I am not sure if I'll even come back to it to be honest. It's degrading to a player to feel like you're not getting anywhere, I'm free of that now and it feels good.
the open notes you hit, before hitting the slide; is that the original line, or is that your own take on it? i've seen a few other videos of this bass line, and this is the first time seeing the opens. i like it. it adds without adding. you know what i mean. i'm starting to sound like a goddam drummer... Funny you should mention that lol. I am 100% confident that this way is the right way; most of the covers I've seen do the A, then the B (which is incorrect), back to the A then finally the C. The guitar does that but you can clearly hear the bass doesn't follow the guitar note for note. There is an isolated bassline of this song which I found after I did this cover - ua-cam.com/video/fnmpz5TluvQ/v-deo.html - Thanks 👍
@@ralgex so, i did find another video wherein the opens are slapped first. _however!_ he (some brazileiro dude - i'll have to search for it again) starts the slide a full step before, on F and A#. first time i've seen that. both ways sound good to me, but the lower start adds some more flavor. maybe it's glissando. give it a try, see what you think. the isolated track you linked track has the extra mutes. i tend to do the extra mutes. Nice, very funky, you really nailed it!

@@ralgex fair enough! as long as you're feeling good!

For more accurate tone try fingering slightly in between the pickups not on top of one.
