Always on the lookout for worthy opponents, Haohmaru is keen to confront and slay the evil Zankuro, while also intending to fulfill a promise of vengeance he made with a child whose village was ravaged by the demon.

Haohmaru has one of the most useful supers in the game. It doesn't do much damage but comes out FAST and can be canceled into from many of his normal attacks. There's also plenty of block chip damage to finish off opponents, which is fun. - Ігри

Man, look this 2D AMAZING GRAPHICS!! Even today, the NEO-GEO has incredible pixel art visuals, especially in games like this!! For me this game, as well as others from Neo-Geo are more beautiful than many Capcom Arcade games!!
NEO-GEO was a monster, because it is a 1990 system whose adaptations of the contemporaries Super Nintendo and Genesis/Mega Drive suffered quality losses and even in 32 bit videogames like 3DO, Playstation 1 and even Sega Saturn, (this last one, a console that used RAM expansion cartridge), it is possible to perceive in their Neo-Geo adaptations a noticeable downgrade of framerate and/or graphics animations.
Before the Dreamcast, launched in 1998, (almost 10 years after Neo-Geo), no home console, (including the Neo-Geo CD) played Neo-Geo cartridge games without losses, except the AES (Neo-Geo cartridge console) and MVS (Neo-Geo Arcade) themselves.

This game might suffer in terms of it's legibility for competitive play, but it has the best aesthetic out of all the Samsho games. It's got the same fidelity pixel art as all of the games that came after it, and it also has amazing environments filled with interactive elements like cuttable bamboo, and lots of moving elements in the foreground and background which the later games didn't have and which make the game much more cinematic, immersive, and visually interesting. Fights can also end really quickly, which some people might not prefer, but I personally think that this adds tension, realism and gives the game character.

But still,every SS has its own charm.
The character design was such an improvement over SS3 and SS2. That said, I like SS4 better because of the larger roster and much nicer cutscenes.
SS3 really was the greatest back in the day... save for the terrible load times on the PS. =P

I knew why this game gets heavy backlash by SS fans. Yes, SNK removed a lot of the features that SS 2 had but in a way the made the game more dark and less comical.

the timer on this game is stupid AF. The dodge system is downright stupid, 3 weapon attack and 1 kick? Worst control ever made !
