When I was an Activity Director in Assisted Living homes for senior citizens, for every event my director would want a balloon arch, but my activity budget never could afford the one's you saw in the activity catalogs. Amazing that you were able to do it so cheaply and it looks professionally made!
I appreciate this tutorial! I made a balloon arch following these instructions two days ago for my daughter's 18th birthday party just yesterday. You never mentioned just how hard it is to tie two balloons together, lol! I couldn't get the little tie-helper-thingy that came with the balloon pump to work, so we did them all by hand and it was hard on us. Our balloons were from Party City, so maybe they were less stretchy or something, but if I did it again I would try to get some tiny rubber bands (like for braces) and just tie each balloon by itself then use the rubber bands to make the pairs. Also, I don't recall if you stressed it much in the video, but it really is important to NOT over-inflate. My husband kept making them pear-shaped and then pairing different sizes, so it was tougher to make them lay flat in the "flower" as I stacked and swirled. Here is a tip if you run out of balloons or just get too tired to keep going (both happened to us!): In order to make the top of the arch high enough, we set the bottoms on chairs, which also helped keep the ends in place because I forgot about adding weights. We had a decorative bench under it and a backdrop behind it for photos, so it worked out well. My daughter was tickled and I am pretty proud of my new skill. Thank you for the video!
That’s EXACTLY how I make the balloon arch over my sons grave each year on his birthday. It’s good and strong for uk weather so it really does work without a frame. Love those colours 🥰✝️💕
Did this same method for making an arch for my daughters birthday party back in January with Walmart and Dollar Tree balloons. Made it the day before and was worried about the balloons deflating before her party the next day. Not only did they stay up perfectly but we moved it up to her bedroom and just popped it over the weekend because she was tired of it taking up space. That thing lasted 3 months! So good! 👍
Looks so pretty! Just a little tip for you next time you do the balloon arch add the weight when you tie on your first balloon quad. You can also just put water inside of another balloon as your weight. Also instead of using ribbon you can use fishing wire it gives you a little more stability on your arch just check the thickness of the fish string by lbs when you buy it. And lastly to make the balloon a little bit darker if you’re using dollar store balloons layer them one inside the other when you blow them up and it’ll give you a darker effect.
@@sfr2107 thanks. I just pop balloons once I don’t need them and in the trash they go! Lol. Except confetti ones try to just poke small holes on those first so confetti does not go flying every where.
Kathryn, the timing of this video is perfect. I am hosting a bridal shower and I would've never thought I could do that if it weren't for you. I bet this will help others planning baby showers, birthday parties, graduation, etc. You are amazing, love when you include your family too. Thank you again!
I've seen many balloon arch tutorials but always felt they were too much. This video makes it so much easier for me to understand! I have a 1 year old birthday party next weekend and I feel confident doing this thanks to you!
I make arches a lot and My tip is you really don’t have to twist the ribbon around all four balloons each time, honestly twisting around one will hold it in place, maybe two if it’s going to be outside in the wind 😋
Beautiful! Just a little note if anyone has a latex sensitivity, sometimes the balloons in the dollar tree bags come with a lot of powder and can trigger to the skin and nose when handling and inflating them. I had to forego the DIY because this happened to me but if you and your helpers are ok this is definitely worth it!
Had to giggle about the beanie sending you to college. I bought my daughter an owl that had a typo in the poem and was told to “hang onto it! It’ll be worth major $$$!” Nope! But she sure loved her beanie collection. 🤣 Love to you all! 🥰
Miss, you are a genius! I hope your family appreciates you. You have way more patience than I have. Beautiful you and you are way more than enough! ❤️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏❤️
I love balloon art. I did a whole big display including an arch for my brother’s retirement party this past January. Everyone LOVED it! I’ll be doing them for EVERY occasion now. I think I’m tied to them since everyone saw what I made. (No pun intended 😂). Yours came out beautifully. 😍 Tfs sweetie. Have a wonderful day.🤗
I actually love the pastels maybe it’s because all I see is the dark colored ones so it’s different and refreshing. These are amazing and they look so expensive. Could you imagine having an arch like this around the doorway when a mom is coming home with her baby? When we adopted our son my mom had decorated my front lawn and our living room to welcome us home because it took a week until we were able to come back home and it was so special.
I just wanted to say THANK YOU! I watched this video a year ago when you posted it, but I finally got to put it into play for my babes first birthday on Sunday! I stopped before it could arch and just made them columns for lack of balloons, time, and help (plus I only have a manual pump). I was trying to make garland with arch strips and I hated working with it. I opted for this project instead and am keeping my garlands that I already created as short as they are.
I've made the baloon arches before...I love your tricks for holding your arch down! As always Kathryn, thank you for sharing all of your hard work, creativity, talent and inspiration w/ us! Stay safe ,healthy and positive! God bless you and your family!🙏❤🇺🇸😊
Just in time for my son's first birthday and my oldest's 3rd birthday! I can't wait to see their reactions because they both love balloons at this age. 😍
I make these for every party/event. They don't take long to make at all and they make such a dramatic effect for a ow cost. With the fishing line you are able to twist and turn the balloon garland into any shape. I highly recommend these for people with little to no experience, it's really super easy.
I once saw a different video from a professional party planner, teaching how to make the arches look more luxe. She double stuffed each balloon, firstly. I don't remember how she did her color scheme, but it made the arches look less see-through and therefore even more expensive. So yes, while a little more costly, even doing that method with the dollar tree way shown here would still be cheaper overall. ☺ love the little rainbow theme
So cute and such an easy way to connect the balloons. This was much easier that the way I did it as a teacher sponsor of the 8th grade semi-formal several years ago(retired now, yippee!). I tied balloons to PVC pipe that my husband bent into an arch frame and connected to a base.
@@DoItOnaDime I loved how your arch stood on its own. We tied ours to the bannister. You’re a ray of sunshine Kathryn. Love your channel and have followed for a while. Wish we could have connected when I lived in NC. I’m back there often. Maybe some day we can connect and meet. I’d love that! Have a fabulous day! 💜
I have been watching you since before the pandemic. You have no idea how much easier and more efficient you have made my life. Love you and the work you do. Thank you!
This looks awesome. Could you did a vid with cheap wedding diy? I’m getting married and I want to do my own centerpieces or just cut cost wherever I can without looking too cheap.
Happy Wednesday! Wow that’s so beautiful done!! Awesome kids! Thank you for sharing this beautiful time with me and as always stay safe and blessed to you and your family.
Wow 😱the balloon arch turned out so good I have a almost 2 year old niece to have a balloon arch for her birthday with be perfect I like that you are able to get every thing from dollar tree

45 minutes?! I feel like this would take me 45 hours. lol It looks Amazing!
Oh, totally. You would find me the next day under a pile of incorrectly connected balloons, muttering. 🎈
🤷🏽♀️🤦🏼♀️
You make the food and I’ll make a field of arches! 😆 Ultimate team!! ❤️
Lol 😂 I was thinking the same
SO TRUE ... when I saw someone do something like this so easly&perfectly ... I FEEL LIKE I WANT TO CRY 😭😭😭

Considering how much it costs to live in places like that...but their budget is always so crappy for food/entertainment and care!

What thickness of fishing string do you suggest? I’m not familiar with it yet. :)
@@JustQuixa the one I buy from Walmart is 20lbs. Fishing string.
Awesome tips. Any advice on clean up?
