@@stevendchangmd6447hi sir , what about venous contact not compression and what if person has constant pain like ache in one side of face but don't have classical tn pain just pins and needles and muscular spasm pain occasionally from 3 years around.Main component is constant ache that reduces intensity sometimes in a day and sometimes its like ache with burning mild.No talk about this type of pain anywhere because type 2 means type 1 instant is somewhat there but what I talk about is mostly constant no classic tn symptoms

    Hi Dr. Chang,
I was listening to your webinar just now, but apparently my question did not go through. I had TN with surgery on 6/2/23, fluid was leaking from surgical site, 2nd surgery in July 2/2023. Got very confused, remain four months in Hospital. To this day I have feelings of hair in my oral cavity, plus other sensation. Poor appetite, decrease in taste. Can you help with what I can use to help this. Thank you. Webinar was very interesting.

Dr Chang thank you so much for posting this. I am a TN patient of almost 2 years. I was told my TN diagnosis is atypical. I had bells paulsy as a child. I woke up one day and went to work and had stroke like symptoms. Slurring words couldn't move my mouth correctly. I had an MRI I have some white spots and a cyst in my sinus on the TN side. I also have decompression I'm three areas of the cranial nerve. I'm wondering if the cyst or bells paulsy has anything to do with it? I also made my physician test me for b vitamin after a chiropractor that never touched me brought it up. Sure enough, I'm B12 deficient.
I have no relief from the typical neuro meds. And it's a constant pain, with electric shocks but varying degrees of the stabbing. I don't sleep thru the night without meds, I have gained 60 lbs in 2 years. I have started to keep a diary in regard to pain and times of day. I am also wondering if I should keep a diary of my experience as a whole, maybe for medical professionals to read. I am getting botox to help the pain, as I get migraines. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you so much for this. I like the way the classifications have been simplified and explained clearly. I want to know if after all these years has the research for a cure continued? If so is there a cure to eliminate all the pain for Type 1 Trigeminal Neuralgia meaning will there be complete pain relief for this disorder without being maintained with meds that are toxic with so many side effects? I've had TN type1 for 20 years and have been on Tegretol and Lyrica as a result. My meds have been regulated and easily increased according to the efficacy of the previous doses I was in. Pain as we all know can result in depression so I have been in therapy for 20 years as well taking Cymbalta. Can a cure (not just treatments) be around the corner?

Trigeminal. Neuralgia I'd a horrible condition. It destroys quality of life. The ability to earn a good income is reduced draticly and it causes so much despair and depression. Until now doctors are unable to treat thos effectively. Now. Because of surgical procedures avaable we have option. I've had this burden for 43 yrs of pure hell. Meds only do so much. God ess don't gove up.

I have TN and ON. I have MCAS, T2DM, AVM of the occipital lobe that is embolized from Intraparachymal Hemorrhage. I take Zyrtec, Montelukast, Metformin, Pregablin and Tylenol. TN can be an allergic reaction and that is how mine is. I am almost in remission. I take 75mg of pregablin a day. I use ketotifen eye drops for the ON. I use bendable straws to drink. I eat pain free foods. I hope my comment helps others. This is truly excruciating pain.

Can Trigeminal that seems to come out of no where and lasts for a few months and goes away and then after a year or so comes back again for a few months and has done so 4 times now. I feel like it is cooling down now and hopefully will disappear from this last series which has lasted more or less a couple of months. DOes it ever happen that it might just go away on its own and never come back again or is it true it always comes back and gets worse each time it returns? AlsoI think what started it this time was getting on a Vib plate in my barefeet that was turned at a really high degree. First time it came was after hitting my head on the edge of a glass desk. DOes it usually have to have something that shocks it into returning?

Is it safe to use a micro current device when you have Type 1 Trigeminal Neuralgia either when have the shocks or not and also is it safe to use one that also has radio frequency? Will the radio Frequency be dangerous or cause it to start up or get worse? Is it possible you could reply with your thoughts on this?
    Thank you

It is very common in asymptomatic individuals to have neurovascular contact at trigeminal nerve then why some have symptoms and then how it is cause of trigeminal neurlagia .Various studies have been done and available on internet that artery contact with trigeminal nerve is common in many normal population..any answer on it?? Mvd is not safe as I have seen some cases about its risks ..gamma knife is good and can be repeated so it is better to opt for that time to time or try alternate treatment like ayurveda or homeopathy

I’m only two months into this and only two weeks diagnosed with now meds helping. Baclofen and amatriptyline. My mri is in a couple of weeks. I hope they do the kind you recommend. I know it’s with and without contrast.
Even if they find the problem the thought of brain surgery scares the hell out of me.
