However, destruction of our traditional cultures and false classifications for hundreds of years is what has caused our people to have this major identity crisis. But if you study the world, you'll realize that the first people of all land masses were melinated people with 'Afro' features, so I don't get why people refuse to understand that the Americas are no different. Whether or not we all derived from Africabs is all up to theory and speculation, but us melinated Americans weren't brought to these lands, we were already here!

When I first came across people claiming we were the true 'Natives' of the Americas I thought they were crazy and just looked down on Africans (which, some of them do). However, I though they brought up some good points and started doing my own research on the topic by watching videos, reading books (such as 'Black Indians' and 'Africans and Native Americans') and looked up some of the differences in the definitions of terms and titles during the 1800s. This truly made me take a step back and analyze/question all the lies in our history that we've been taught. Long story short, we must all learn to read between the lines and never assume that we've been told the truth about our peoples' past
As I explained in previous comments, each Tribe has a right to decide enrollment criteria, however each person or family who was removed from citizenship/enrollment has a right to challenge the disenrollment in Tribal Court to see if their disenrollment was a Tribal Constitutional violation. Most if not all Tribes have protections for their members/citizens as it pertains to enrollment/citizenship rights, if the person(s) was found to have been disenrolled by means of prejudice, greed or malicious intent, they will win back their membership/citizenship (such as the case with the Cherokee Nation and Freedmen). But keep in mind, each Tribes have the right to determine and change their enrollment criteria so it always depends on current tribal leadership and the citizens to decide.
@@diaryofanaxeman539 I heard there is a notorious disenroller in Pechanga Tribal Council who pushed for more strict lineage requirements as a means to target certain Clans considered a distant cousin of the Tribe, and to target families so other families can have bigger cuts. I haven't heard any other Tribe doing that except one Tribe (I can't remember which) literally as two large families who are fighting for power with each family controlling their own police force (of course they have a huge casino profits). This is why most Tribes have laws to limit relatives or family on Tribal Council or Department heads.
The Five Tribes has just as large Casinos, but we have hundreds of thousands of tribal citizens, so a cut would only equal $400 a year for each Citizen. So the leaders spend it on education, infrastructure, tuition, job training, healthcare and small business development instead which is a better way as it is a hand up instead of a huge $120,000 hand out of casino profits. Investing into People rather than giving people huge cuts actually prevents corruption.
The Choctaw and Seminole Freedmen should take note of how the Cherokee Freedmen won their citizenship back, they used the courts and peacefully protested at the Tribal Citizenry and Tribal Council.

Freedmen was a term they just applied to us years later. This country never called us Free or men. Not even in the constitution. Most of us so called Black Americans are Indigenous and aboriginal, lots are mixed with African but not all of us.

The mostly white tribal members who were rich owned slaves to work their plantations and farms. Most Indians could never afford a farm or plantation. I've got Seminole on my Maternal Great- great Grandmother side and BlackFeet on my Paternal Great grandmother's side... but only through word of mouth stories no birth records, it's more anecdotal for Black Americans that may only be able to trace ancestors back 4 generations before records stop.

if a tribe had your ancestors enslaved, then freed your ancestors and accepted them into the tribe , your technically still an outsider correct? Why would you want to be part of a family that doesn't want you?
No outside organization, governments or rights groups has a right to dictate any Tribe's enrollment criteria, each Tribe decides their respective enrollment criteria. A few U.S. Supreme Court rulings in the late 1970's and early 1980's gave all Tribes the right to determine their own respective enrollment criteria. Tribe's use either lineage or blood quantum which varies from Tribe to Tribe unless a Tribe reserved a special roll for adoptees such as the freedmen among most of Five Tribes of Oklahoma and a few in the East.
Last I checked there was like 2 tribes still using blood quantum, and that has to do with the amount of money/benefits those particular tribes benefit from.

I am Creek. "Red" Native American's are true indigenous - we were the the first people in North America. Black Indians were formerly slaves that were forcefully brought here -- they are NOT indigenous. The Back story is that when slaves were freed they were alienated and unwelcome wherever they went but we Natives allowed them to share living spaces on our reservations. Though I do love and appreciate our African Americans, they do not actually share our Native identity.

I look at old pictures of the Lakota Chiefs, Shirt Wearer's, Warrior's, Medicine Men, and their relations and they don't look black at all. I wouldn't confuse not one of them with being black. As a Afro Indigenous person myself, all those American Blacks with no lineage to the Five Tribes who think they're entitled to our resources, land and benefits need to stay out of the Five Tribe's business. However, destruction of our traditional cultures and false classifications for hundreds of years is what has caused our people to have this major identity crisis. But if you study the world, you'll realize that the first people of all land masses were melinated people with 'Afro' features, so I don't get why people refuse to understand that the Americas are no different. Whether or not we all derived from Africabs is all up to theory and speculation, but us melinated Americans weren't brought to these lands, we were already here!

It's nothing new. Many black folks have been trying to be un African here and there for a long time while trying to tie themselves to a special group or status somewhere outside of Africa(Sub-Saharan).

When I first came across people claiming we were the true 'Natives' of the Americas I thought they were crazy and just looked down on Africans (which, some of them do). However, I though they brought up some good points and started doing my own research on the topic by watching videos, reading books (such as 'Black Indians' and 'Africans and Native Americans') and looked up some of the differences in the definitions of terms and titles during the 1800s. This truly made me take a step back and analyze/question all the lies in our history that we've been taught. Long story short, we must all learn to read between the lines and never assume that we've been told the truth about our peoples' past

As I explained in previous comments, each Tribe has a right to decide enrollment criteria, however each person or family who was removed from citizenship/enrollment has a right to challenge the disenrollment in Tribal Court to see if their disenrollment was a Tribal Constitutional violation. Most if not all Tribes have protections for their members/citizens as it pertains to enrollment/citizenship rights, if the person(s) was found to have been disenrolled by means of prejudice, greed or malicious intent, they will win back their membership/citizenship (such as the case with the Cherokee Nation and Freedmen). But keep in mind, each Tribes have the right to determine and change their enrollment criteria so it always depends on current tribal leadership and the citizens to decide.
Lots of Californian Natives disenrolled other members for Casino monies .... greed is another weapon of choice of this occupying Nation .

I haven't heard any other Tribe doing that except one Tribe (I can't remember which) literally as two large families who are fighting for power with each family controlling their own police force (of course they have a huge casino profits). This is why most Tribes have laws to limit relatives or family on Tribal Council or Department heads.
The Five Tribes has just as large Casinos, but we have hundreds of thousands of tribal citizens, so a cut would only equal $400 a year for each Citizen. So the leaders spend it on education, infrastructure, tuition, job training, healthcare and small business development instead which is a better way as it is a hand up instead of a huge $120,000 hand out of casino profits. Investing into People rather than giving people huge cuts actually prevents corruption.
The Choctaw and Seminole Freedmen should take note of how the Cherokee Freedmen won their citizenship back, they used the courts and peacefully protested at the Tribal Citizenry and Tribal Council.

Freedmen was a term they just applied to us years later. This country never called us Free or men. Not even in the constitution. Most of us so called Black Americans are Indigenous and aboriginal, lots are mixed with African but not all of us.

No outside organization, governments or rights groups has a right to dictate any Tribe's enrollment criteria, each Tribe decides their respective enrollment criteria. A few U.S. Supreme Court rulings in the late 1970's and early 1980's gave all Tribes the right to determine their own respective enrollment criteria. Tribe's use either lineage or blood quantum which varies from Tribe to Tribe unless a Tribe reserved a special roll for adoptees such as the freedmen among most of Five Tribes of Oklahoma and a few in the East.
Last I checked there was like 2 tribes still using blood quantum, and that has to do with the amount of money/benefits those particular tribes benefit from.

Black Indians were formerly slaves that were forcefully brought here -- they are NOT indigenous.
