as someone who’s just finished their freshman year, here’s some things i learned along the way:
-DO NOT NEGLECT YOUR GRADES. EVER. make sure to not over study and pressure yourself, ofc. try to find studying habits that work for you
-if you don’t ask ab drama, you won’t be in drama. keep yourself to yourself and DONT befriend gossips. keep your circle filled with people who truly motivated you
-start thinking about what you’re into, and expand on your interests in your free time. building any form of skill is an immense help
-keep all your notes organized, and do not throw them out at the end of the year. you’ll need them for the ACT, SAT, GAT etc
-participate in class. being smart doesn’t make you a teachers pet. it also makes it easier to make friends. also participate in clubs/ competitions. it’ll help for your college resume and will also help you find/learn more about your passions
-do not ruin your sleep schedule especially during exams. you’ll regret it eventually and saying you stayed up till 3 am isn’t cool anyway
-take advantage of presentations. it’s so hard being yourself in front of people bc you’ll want to match their energy. but because you’re in front of lots of people, there isn’t any specific energy to match. the stage is yours
-do not neglect your rest. the importance of sleeping, eating, and drinking water doesn’t decrease because you have a project due next week
-don’t buy things from upperclassman unless it’s their old notes and study guides
-vaping and doing drugs in the bathroom doesn’t make you edgy please
