For anyone, whose CloudySMBU Mod crashes: If you have NSMBU + Luigi U, then delete the Layout Folder. If you have normal NSMBU AND the language of the game/Wii U isn’t English, then delete all Language folders except English and Fonts.
You can find the Language Pack Folders in the EU, US and JP folders. You only need to delete the folders of your region. I also recommend playing this mod with the 1.3.0 version of the game, as rimea suggests. If none of those solutions helped, please inform me about that.
So apparently a friend of the creator said this about using mk8 ultimate with the current mk8 update so this explains why it won’t work maybe someone can think of a workaround: These mods need to be loaded through the Wii U plugin system (WUPS), not SDcafiine. WUPS is an .elf homebrew. Aroma can't read .elf homebrew. In theory it can be converted to be Aroma compatible, and a few people have claimed they'd take a stab at such, but thus far, nothing has materialized from this as I'm aware. Which is why it has to at this time be loaded through Tiramisu or earlier cfws. Trying to straight up inject data in the game will work fine for surface level SDcafiine kinds of mods. But this mod expands upon the code of MK8, so injecting like that is never gonna work unless maybe we get the MK8 source code via a decomp or something like that. This was designed for MK8 before the latest update that fixes online, so don't make that update, or if you did, find a way to downgrade to the previous version. I'm sure the original creator of the adapted plugin here could update the code to make it work with the latest version (I personally wouldn't know exactly what to do in this regard), but he kinda disappeared and I don't really wanna go track him down and bother him over this, especially since this isn't even really meant for online and Wii U online will officially be ending in a few months anyway. I even tried disconnecting the internet and just installing the v64 update with and without DLC installed it loaded and showed version 4.1 not 4.2 but still didn’t show tracks so it’s not the just the current update that’s the problem It seems it is the “sdcafiine” program not injecting all the mod files properly

Mk generations works, but mk 8 ultimate doesn't show the "L, R" buttons present at 15:39, so I can't access the mod's tracks, even though in my save file I have got almost all stars on every cup (except dlc) do I need a complete save file? Also my console is set to Italian and names of characters/tracks doesn't change at all, so I have "Daisy" that shows Samus instead 🤣 Edit: I tried renaming the mk8 folders as the readme says (I'm in Eur) but still no luck Edit2: found out that you had to use a plugin on the homebrew launcher first, but it is a .elf file so it can't be read by Aroma. In other words, this mod doesn't work anymore

I managed to find the solution to our problem. All you need to do is make a new folder and name it the name of the mod you want to run then put the content folder in the one you just made. Had the same problem but managed to find out how to get the mods to run 😄👍
So I followed this pretty well, but every time I eject the SD card from my computer, the title ID folder keeps deleting itself entirely. Anyone know how to prevent this? Not sure if certain games don’t work with SDCafiine or what, but it’s kind of annoying.
@FunkyScott48 I used this tutorial for SSB4 (same mod and everything if that helps), but when i load the game it displays a black screen for a few minutes like normal but doesn't show the mod launcher screen, so no mods are loaded. Could it be that its physical, it would be weird if it was because MK8 generations works with physical. Someone pls help(:
if anyone's having the problem I just had where it failed to load the mod you have to have a folder with the name of the mod then content then common so that's a content folder in the name of the mod and then a common folder in the content folder that work for me
I saw you had the digital version for each game. Does it work the same way with the same process or method if you only have the disc version of let's say NSMBU?

im not exactly sure why it isn't working, but I'd suggest getting MarioKart Generations instead. it's actively monitored by the devs so it has better support and even online with pretendo
I installed the Cloudy SMBU 2 Mod in my Wii U, but it gives a black screen when launching. I did everything right. I got the right Title ID, SDCafiine works. Even other NSMBU Mods work (like Mario Saves Christmas). If anyone has a solution to this, please share it with me.

I don’t know what it causes but I assume that the Autor of this Mod didn’t test the language packs. Maybe it’ll get patched.

Help please i followed all the steps and when i launch nsmbwu it doesnt load the screen to select [Update] I fixed it it now loads i put the wrong code for the file i did nsmbu and i have nsmbu and luigi u but after i selected the file and the opening screen for cloudy nsmbu i press 2 and the screen turns all black and nothing shows on even if i wait and plays a loud crashing sound for like 3 seconds
@@Lucas-tr9vh fosho the problem was modding nsmbu and the mod i was adding was a nsmbu one mine was nsmbu+luigi u disc so it wont work bc the games are different unfortunately if you want this u would have to buy a nsmbu disc with out luigi u

@@lpfan4491 i think its safer to turn my disk into a download copy so it will get its seperate save data incase something gets messed up So when i want to play vanilla i use the disk and when mod, theres a serpate save file for the modded game 👍👍

it bases off the savefile from the vanilla game so if things like new tracks or characters don't appear from the vanilla savefile they won't appear in the mod

most mods are just for the base nsmbu game, which has a different title id, but you can also read the mod and see the specifics if any are for both together
Wii mods are their own special case. You can either load mods through Riivolution or custom made WBFS files to play through through USB Loader GX, but Riivolution is reccomended because piracy is a big no-no!
I don't have those games discs or on my Wii U I can only download NSMBU rom hacks so I will not be fowling these last steps of yours so maybe next time I will fowl these last steps of yours If I want to buy these two Wii U games.

yup! exact same :) When it comes to NSMBU, make sure you know if you have the disc with or without Luigi U on it because the title ID's are different

Funky. Tengo problemas con los mods de NSMBU. se hace la pantalla negra .El juego original tambien trae luigi bros u. Sera por eso que no funcionan los mods. Se necesita solo el que el disco traiga solo NSMBU.Gracias.
you need the version where it does not have new luigi included. they are different title ids
Somebody please help me. Ive gotten mods for MK8 and i have sd cafine. But when i boot the game it doesn't pull up the mod pack menu. This is the only game where it does this.

if you have the other games set up and working, then it might be your file structure. which mk8 mod is it?

Delete the Language folders except the English and fonts folder. If you have Luigi U, then also delete the layout folders.

most mods are just for the base nsmbu game, which has a different title id, but you can also read the mod and see the specifics if any are for both together
Does this work for Wii games on the Wii U?
Wii mods are their own special case. You can either load mods through Riivolution or custom made WBFS files to play through through USB Loader GX, but Riivolution is reccomended because piracy is a big no-no!

mk8 ultimate no longer works with aroma, check out Mario kart 8 generations instead
