The 2:00 launch promo for the Reach for the Stars campaign in 1981. In the new show title section it shows The Vintage Years at 1:28 in, which was the original title for Falcon Crest.
The Best edited and creative packaging for a Fall line up promo !! Reach For The Stars.. Reach out for the Best !! Don't Settle for Less ..Reach For The Stars on CBS!! awe 1981 was a great year and also I love the creativeness of this promo for CBS!!
For 1981-82, under CBS's "Reach for the Stars" season, Dallas is still #1. 60 Minutes, The Jeffersons, Alice, The Dukes of Hazzard, M*A*S*H, and One Day at a Time were in the top 10. Archie Bunker's Place, Falcon Crest, Trapper John M.D., and Magnum P.I. were doing well in the teens. And House Calls is hanging on in the twenties. Catchy song as well. BTW, CBS was home to Super Bowl XVI
This was the final season of Lou Grant, WKRP In Cincinnati, House Calls and Nurse by the end of the season they were cancelled. Jessica Novak, Shannon and Mr. Merlin were short lived. and The Vintage Years would soon be Falcon Crest.
Don't forget "The Incredible Hulk," Kwadwo! Though only seven episodes aired sporadically during the 1981-82 season (the first five were telecast during the autumn of 1981, and the last two were burned off in May of '82), "Hulk" was renewed for a fifth season.
watching these season promos -from what were the "Big 3" in TV- makes me wish i had cable at an earlier age.......you know .....'cause THOSE WERE THE TIMES, BRO
This was the year for the changing of the guard at the news division. Walter Cronkite stepped down from the CBS Evening News, and Dan Rather took his place. 1981 was Dan's first year at the helm, the frontman at the news division, the post he held on to until March 2005.

Some of the great CBS Saturday Morning Cartoons Shows when it debuted on September 12'th 1981 The Kwicky Koala Show Trollkins The Popeye and Olive Comedy Show Blackstar The Tarzan/Lone Ranger/Zorro Adventure Hour
Geez, remember when networks actually had image campaigns every year? Heck, remember when television actually meant something? CBS had an unstoppable lineup in '81.
@tomgalicia - I agree, CBS is number one right now, as it was back then. We got shows like Survivor, CSI and its spinoffs (Miami and New York), NCIS and its spinoff NCIS Los Angeles), The Amazing Race, Cold Case, Two and a Half Men, How I Met Your Mother, etc. 60 Minutes is the granddaddy of all newsmagazines, and it is indeed the most watched in all of CBS.
Good Old Days. I was a teenager and waited in anticipation for the new season to start back then. I wish HOUSE CALLS and Private Benjamin complete series were available on DVD. I never missed a single episode of those two shows. CBS had a great lineup in 1981-1982 TV SEASON. Today's network TV sucks! Reality shows and violence, the comedies are stupid.
Some Charlie Brown specials clips (just with Snoopy), and Unlike The Looking Good Together promo from the previous year of 1980. It features some more Looney Tunes clips.
The Incredible Hulk was cancelled before the 1981-1982 season; however, they had made seven episodes after the fourth season because a writer's strike was looming on the horizon. Despite their fears and an attempt to make a 13 episode season, it was cancelled and the remaining epiodes were aired during the 1981-82 season, with the first five aired in the fall of 1981 on Friday nights and the last two aired in May 1982.
I don't know when it was in the video but did you see Larry Hagman JR on Dallas???.....he died yesterday :'''( rip Larry even though I never watched the show..unbelievable isn't it???
