The TV season of 1981-1982. CBS was "Reach For The Stars", ABC was "Now Is The Time", and NBC was "Our Pride Is Showing".
The Best edited and creative packaging for a Fall line up promo !! Reach For The Stars.. Reach out for the Best !! Don't Settle for Less ..Reach For The Stars on CBS!! awe 1981 was a great year and also I love the creativeness of this promo for CBS!!
watching these season promos -from what were the "Big 3" in TV- makes me wish i had cable at an earlier age.......you know
.....'cause THOSE WERE THE TIMES, BRO
For 1981-82, under CBS's "Reach for the Stars" season, Dallas is still #1. 60 Minutes, The Jeffersons, Alice, The Dukes of Hazzard, M*A*S*H, and One Day at a Time were in the top 10. Archie Bunker's Place, Falcon Crest, Trapper John M.D., and Magnum P.I. were doing well in the teens. And House Calls is hanging on in the twenties.
Catchy song as well.
BTW, CBS was home to Super Bowl XVI
This was the final season of Lou Grant, WKRP In Cincinnati, House Calls and Nurse by the end of the season they were cancelled. Jessica Novak, Shannon and Mr. Merlin were short lived. and The Vintage Years would soon be Falcon Crest.
Don't forget "The Incredible Hulk," Kwadwo! Though only seven episodes aired sporadically during the 1981-82 season (the first five were telecast during the autumn of 1981, and the last two were burned off in May of '82), "Hulk" was renewed for a fifth season.
+Demetrius Dillard but It wasn't featured in this promo.
Falcon Crest was the dumbest nighttime soap opera there has ever been.
awesome editing and great ad campaign for CBS 29 years ago!! love the tag "America , You're Looking Good" "Looking Good" was the previous ad campaign before "Reach For TheStars"!!
This was the year for the changing of the guard at the news division. Walter Cronkite stepped down from the CBS Evening News, and Dan Rather took his place. 1981 was Dan's first year at the helm, the frontman at the news division, the post he held on to until March 2005.
Back when TV Networks had balls!

I worked for CBS affiliate KDLH this year and still have my t-shirt with the logo that's displayed at the 1:56 mark
The end scene shows the Reach for The Stars logo set on a purple background, then the blue animated circle stars cover it to reveal the CBS logo.
facts
@@pinklemonadeanimations Sherry Gold did the ending animation (she also did work on the previous year’s “Looking Good Together” campaign).
That was back when watching CBS was like PARTY TIME!! 😀😍🥰
Geez, remember when networks actually had image campaigns every year? Heck, remember when television actually meant something? CBS had an unstoppable lineup in '81.

CBS should look at there own videos and hopefully realize what TV is supposed to be.
@tomgalicia - I agree, CBS is number one right now, as it was back then.
We got shows like Survivor, CSI and its spinoffs (Miami and New York), NCIS and its spinoff NCIS Los Angeles), The Amazing Race, Cold Case, Two and a Half Men, How I Met Your Mother, etc.
60 Minutes is the granddaddy of all newsmagazines, and it is indeed the most watched in all of CBS.
I don't know when it was in the video but did you see Larry Hagman JR on Dallas???.....he died yesterday :'''( rip Larry even though I never watched the show..unbelievable isn't it???

The Incredible Hulk was cancelled before the 1981-1982 season; however, they had made seven episodes after the fourth season because a writer's strike was looming on the horizon. Despite their fears and an attempt to make a 13 episode season, it was cancelled and the remaining epiodes were aired during the 1981-82 season, with the first five aired in the fall of 1981 on Friday nights and the last two aired in May 1982.
Then as a result of Incredible Hulk being cancelled, The Dukes of Hazzard moved into the 8pm Friday slot versus the Friday 9pm slot
Good Old Days. I was a teenager and waited in anticipation for the new season to start back then. I wish HOUSE CALLS and Private Benjamin complete series were available on DVD. I never missed a single episode of those two shows. CBS had a great lineup in 1981-1982 TV SEASON. Today's network TV sucks! Reality shows and violence, the comedies are stupid.

Ha-ha. I'm not sure, but it might have made its TV debut that year -- sort of like the prestige Gone With The Wind premiering had.
Well, I realize that the Disney anthology series moved to CBS during this time, but still, they NEVER showed THAT much Disney animation, did they?

Why Isn't The Incredible Hulk featured in this promo?
cuz it got cancelled =C
@@pinklemonadeanimations But had it’s final season in 1981-82, it was cancelled midway.
For that matter, why so many Disney clips? I can understand the Looney Tunes clips because there was this show on Saturday mornings then called "The Bugs Bunny Road Runner Show", which is basically a showing of various cartoon shorts from Warner Bros., but Disney?
The Wonderful World of Disney moved from NBC to CBS in 1981, which was a big deal at the time.
@@lee4hmz so the Charlie Brown clips (except 2 with Snoopy) were mostly cut to make way for the Disney clips?

Today on tv sadly there are no tv stars to reach for as sadly there is way too much reality crap tv and not much good shows on tv anymore like MASH, Trapper John MD, Columbo, etc.
Wayne Holmes from Sydney, Australia.
NBC is not bull s t not it great it got a hit on its hands now Revolution on Mondays
xD take that abc -_-
no I am not black I am white I just know that Obama is the president and should be treated with respect... Mrs. Hall the civics teacher taught that the president should always be treated with respect even if you didn't agree with his politics or now skin color
Nice promo. Great promo. CBS is fine with me. ABC is better. FOX (except Simpsons) and NBC are bullshit. The CW is just boring.
I despised Dallas. And Mash was godawful. Especially when the dismal Mike Farrell and the wretched Harry Morgan joined it.
kurokawa kokujin akihito!
Dolores Wallin I thought Harry Morgan was a great actor a decade before M*A*S*H* he played Detective Bill Gannon on NBC's popular police show Dragnet and I thought Mike Farrell was good......as for Dallas my Grandpa Oscar watched it
