From what I have observed about fragrence notes; The popular/hyped ones with Woody, Spicy, Musky, Oud, And even some floral perfumes are more complimented in the west. Since, these notes are generally new to their noses, they are head turners. BUT, If you wear same fragrance here in Indian region or In the middle east, they are not much appreciated. They are from a very common DNA. Some have even said that you smell like a Temple Agarbatti/Incense Stick. (Real incident btw). Here the fragrences that are complimented mostly have fresh,blue, citrus, boozy, leathery and party wear type notes.

Reviewing and calling perfumes captivating, classy, this perfume tell this is a confident man, he has aura.....what!!!! Now for another perfume, this perfume is deep, sensual, opulent. ...what!! Ghanta kuch bata nahi rahe ho aap perfumes ke baare me! And talks rubbish about projection and longevity!

If a fragrance is very loud and strong, it has to be a very high quality perfume. The cheaper, strong ones are harsh.
