  • The Mini Dip is a classic Lindy Hop move created by the Ambassador of Lindy Hop himself, Frankie Manning. He named the move for the place where he created it - Minneapolis, and here, Evita and Michael break down this 8-count swing pattern clearly and concisely.

Isn't it called the Minne dip, not mini dip? From Minneapolis dip, where Frankie taught it at a workshop.

Hi @Falruk Yes 👍🏽 I was never sure about which spelling was necessary but you’re correct. We talk about the origin of the step and how Frankie created and taught this in Minneapolis.

I was literally just looking for a tutorial for this step. Thanks for the mind reading. I only have one question, how do I know I have to pick up my foot from the ground and not do a triple step or something else? Is there something I should feel from the leader? or is it just choreographed? I haven't figured that out yet

I think it's a little bit both. It's a classic move so once the lead to the bottom is done, it will be the mini dip, but, the fact where you go down means you have to go up after that as a response to the bounce, so if you go down then you go up and if you look like your partner, you see. Then, the leader has to take your hand to create a connexion "out" for stopping you (I hope i'm clear)
