I think if anyone had you as a travel buddy, they would enjoy themselves immensely, your personality is so lovely, please create a club where ladies can buddy up to travel, I think if you headed it would really take off xx
Your point about life not always being comfortable is exactly what I needed to hear. I did my first solo trip across the country to Oregon a week ago, and it was in preparation for a solo trip to England next year. Thanks so much for this inspiring video.
I’m 35 and did my first solo travel this year. 2 weeks in California. 7 days of that was with a group with g adventures that way it was organised and with other few solo travellers. Got to travel they Vegas, San Fran and LA. Totally recommend it. Also loved having few days at the start in Vegas and the end in LA on my own. Love making my own decisions on holidays too. Trying to decide the next destination !!!
You Go Girl! Embrace your power! I began solo travel when I was about your age (none of my friends wanted to go to the places I wanted to go - Iceland, Australia) and I loved it, was never "alone" unless I chose to be. Now, after years of traveling with my husband, as a young(ish) widow I am about to go another solo travel for the first time in many years. I amenjoying watching your solo travel videos, thanks for sharing
If you think you will be uncomfortable eating alone in a strange city start at home. Go to a restaurant that you haven't been to and say those magic words, "table for one please", then drive an hour or so away from home and do it again. You will learn there is no reason to be fearful or uncomfortable. I adore traveling alone and as a young woman I did it a lot, and I met so many people, that I almost prefer it because I find people are more likely to approach you if they don't think they will disturb you and whomever you are with. Also you can skip places that maybe your travel companion would want to go if you don't want to and you can spend more time in places that maybe would have bored them. Take a chance, go find yourself. Have a lovely day Dainty, thank-you for sharing!!! AMB...Rose
You are truly a breath of fresh air! You are full of valuable info. I like how you think of life. Your smart to travel now...life changes....you will never regret traveling now.
What a brilliant video! I have alway done lots on my own , but was really scarred to solo travel. After a 22 year relationship ended i found myself i n that solo travel or don't go place. You say exactly what i thought. Feel the fear and do it anyway! So glad i did ! I love travelling alone now only person you have to please is yourself great experience. I would say first time you go abroad go somewhere you have already been so you have an idea of what to expect. And get to like people watching and don't hide behind your phone, looking around makes you more confident and thats great with the eating alone.
That’s so awesome that you get to travel being so young. Good for you to do what you want to do Catherine. The world is a beautiful place, take advantage while you can. Have fun and safe travels !! 💕
I admire you tremendously. You're just everything I wanted to be, and let me tell you, being independent is a beautiful blessing, enjoying yourself, relaxing, exploring, its the best thing ever! I do wish you safety and health always on your travels. Do watch your surroundings though. Enjoy life always! 💖✌😄
My brother is on his way to Tokyo for a long weekend soon. He's been all over the world and enjoys travel You are lucky that you have so much time off from work. My brother and I are off to Europe in the Spring , so excited !
Your tips are so sensible. I have done my share of travel alone, in Brussels & Bruge just like you. Also Greece. You do meet people. Having been married for 34 years, we are still traveling. Keep going & enjoy.
I love this video! I started traveling solo five years ago and now I've been to eight countries by myself. I'm always super nervous before I go, but I'm so glad that I've done it! I usually go on a Hop On Hop Off bus on the first day in a country (I have a terrible sense of direction so it helps me get my head around a new place) and then go on walking tours other days. Both of those are good for meeting people (but I'm an American so I'm totally up for chatting with strangers!). Also for the eating thing - I'm not really a foodie so I usually just go to a grocery store or cafe and get a sandwich or something to go. It's cheaper and I don't have to worry about feeling awkward in a restaurant by myself. If I'm somewhere with really good food then I'll mix it up and eat in a restaurant for a few meals!
As someone who lets the panic stop me going anywhere this is very inspiring and encouraging love your travel vlogs as I know I will never go to these places my friend travels solo with her work and is so confident in travel great video 🌺
Thanks so much for watching Gina, you could try visiting some places in your local town by yourself and see how you get one, the travel bug might catch you! x Thanks so much for watching!
Great video I did my first solo back to Dublin in was 59 and scared as I was taking some of my late husband's ashes to Ireland. Sadly he never got to visit but I felt by doing this he did. I was scared to death but as I progressed into the trip I started to enjoy it. I ended up getting to see and be with family from N. Ireland to came down to visit me. It was wonderful I have taken trips overseas ever since. I have been to Paris 2 times which I love but now to visit Portugal, Spain Dubai etc. Because of my major surgery last year I got grounded by the doctors as they wanted me to be really healed. I go back in May for a check up an hopefully get the green light to travel. As you know, I want to go to Aix-En-Provence in the South of France and visit all that area and I will love to see and hear about all your adventures. Some people say I am crazy to travel myself but I enjoy it giving me the time to go where I want and at my own pace. When I am in foreign countries I am always back at the hotel by 8pm. but I had a jammed packed day so I am tired. So I hope when I am in Ireland for the trial we can meet in person which would be wonderful I will bring my gift for you that I made..............Thanks for sharing
You are such an inspiring person. My daughter and I both have wanted to travel but I am older and the desire is not as strong for me as it is for her. I have suggested she watch your video and thanks for answering my question. This is so very helpful, thanks so much for sharing. It would indeed be wonderful to have a travel companion like you. Many Blessings!
Thank you for making this video. I've been wanting to travel more but I don't have people to go with and Ive been scared to go on a solo travel with my anxiety, I am 30 years old and now I'm at a point like I just need to do this on my own and alone. So i really needed to hear this video thank you for making this video.
I'm a solo traveller and absolutely love it...once I built the confidence to go that first time, it was addictive after that!!! Initally, the hardest thing for me was dealing with people's reaction and negativity about being a female solo traveller, but over time, I gained confidence, self assurance and independence. Can't wait to plan my next trip. Great video and delighted that more people are highlighting and encouraging solo travelling.
This really inspired me! I have toying with flying to Sri Lanka or Zanzibar in April alone when I'm in Dubai visiting a friend......I'm fine being alone I love being alone and very independent however am nervous of the dangers of being watched as a lone female traveller, you hear such awful stories! But I think I need to bite the bullet!
Yay you answered one of my questions! I'm planning my first solo to NYC! Thank you for your honestly! You're the best! BTW LOVED LOVE LOVE your bottle opener on your IG stories! I literally spit my tea all over my phone when I saw that! You're hilarious!
I just went through all her IG pics and couldn’t find the can opener but I did see another side of Catherine! Holy smokes she’s a model! And those gorgeous dresses! Va Va Va Boom!
I'm so thankful that I fell upon you and your vlogs! Thank you for this Q&A vlog! Loved it! Found you in your Dubai vlog in doing some research for my own possible trip to Dubai next year. It was most helpful. And finally after going back and forth, I'm going to make it happen. A few days ago, I just took the first step of purchasing my plane tickets! #excited !!! A few more accommodations I need to take care of and I'll be good to go! Now......to tell my family and friends. Haha. I know I won't get the most positive reaction at first too because I will be going to the Middle East but I'm sure they'll turn around. =) I can't wait! #justdoit #noregrets #solotravler #tableforone
I found Dubai to be so safe, I stayed in the Jumeirah emirates tower but most of the Jumeirah hotels are amazing there. A bit more pricey but I felt so safe there as a solo traveller. Have an amazing trip!
Good on you for travelling and also for doing it solo. When I was younger my friend and I had planned our trip to Europe . however, she met someone fell in love and got married. So I was faced with what do I do? I just went anyway. I did speak with a few friends and different people who had been travelling where I wanted to go. I was also lucky that my parent were living in Italy and I had other family in Europe. However I backpacked and stayed at youth hostels I miss this "what am I going to do today?" lifestyle. I think if you dont take silly risks you should be ok. Enjoy. thanks for sharing.
I shared on my page because I know people of all ages that suffer with anxiety. I have been going afraid and slowly moving those borders out just like you said. Thank you! 💜💕💜
Like you I love Solo ravelling. One thing to share with you. YOU DINE WITH YOUSELF..not by yourself or alone. You meet the nicest people and learn so much by engaging in conversation with fellow travellers.
Thank you for doing this - it was brilliant! 🤗 I always enjoy all your travel vlogs. You always seem to have a ball on your travels. Travelling solo means you can do what you want, when you want. It's true, we shouldn't put off doing things now, because we will regret it down the track.
Love this! Great tips. For a long time I let the “what if’s” take over and I didn’t step out despite the fear. And then one day it clicked that so many of my fears were irrational or unfounded, so I got into the habit of asking myself “so what” anytime I caught myself asking “what if”. Like your example - What if people look at me weird because I’m sitting alone in a restaurant? I’d combat that fear by asking myself so what!?!! That has actually been a huge help to me in overcoming fears, and I’m so glad I’ve stepped out and done things I wanted to do instead of taking the easy/comfortable route in life! From solo traveling to starting a business to learning to fly a plane, I am so glad that fear doesn’t get in the way anymore!
Oh wow! I love the solo trip idea! I've done a couple day trips alone. I'm single and most of my friends are married or have busy schedules. So, not anyone to go with. I've got to try this:) I love your confidence. You are such an inspirational for all of us💕
I was watching your video while crafting myself a pair of earings and a bracelet (you inspire to DIY 😉). You reminded me of how terrified I used to be by myself. The first time I went downtown shopping I thought everybody was staring at in in the subway and in the mall (look! she's all by herself!) No one cared. I wanted to go see Sens and Sensibility and back then it was 2 years before it was available for DVDs. I went, enjoyed the film, in English and laughed quite a lot. There you go. I had stopped being scare of being alone in public places. (BTW my name means "blind courage" 😛)
I prayed to God bcz i didnt know what to do...i was so.tired of the state u grew up in....i packed 1 very small bag found relatives going in the place i wanted to relocate...once i got to new place i said i can do what i want cz nobody knows me here...ive been here almost 1yr and i feel great...im really up to try new things...once u do its AWESOME...yes i agree with u about fear but for me everyone was shocked to.find i i.moved out of state...i lol n enjoyed being alone...dont let people change your mind...live YOUR BEST LIFE...even if u go solo...im lovn it n im not done yet
Brilliant thank you. You really inspired me and have so much wisdom and courage. Somethings I’d add : Go to fancy meals in your home town on your own. No reason to not splurge on yourself and have a fancy meal just because you’re on your own. And most times people might actually be thinking ‘damn s/he’s got courage and spunk. Wish I could be like her/him or that gives me confidence to do to for myself next time.’ AirBNB is an amazing resource as long as you choose ones with many great reviews and/or Superhosts. Read between the lines in the reviews too. Hosts will often fetch you from the airport or provide excellent directions to their places and advise you once you’re with them on amazing things to do. Google Translate : if you switch it to camera in the app and hover it over any text it translates it so you can translate menus, signs, message boards from and to any language. In most countries in Europe they speak 2 languages and English is one of them. The rest of us need to catch up. AirBNB experiences are also amazing for things to do and again read the reviews. I’m travelling to Dublin for the first time ever now in October solo and super excited for it. I’ve pre- booked AirBNBs in Dublin and out West and hired a car. I’m a Canadian of South African origin. 💗 Also the more I travel the more I have been deeply touched by how kind people are and that the world is not so scary after all. The news really messes us up a lot drumming up fear all the time. And be aware and awake at the same time!
I hope you have an absolutely amazing time in Dublin and the west! I hope the weather stays dry for you too! I LOVE your tips and I am going to pin them to the top! Thanks so much for watching!
When COVID is over I’m solo travelling to the UK. I’m spending time alone and time on tours. Not nervous at all. I’m not silly enough to go into any dangerous areas. Can wait for the experience and fun. If you don’t do it alone you may never do it.
I can't wait to get back travelling, I am hoping either late in this year or next year. I am happy to explore at home for now. I do love a solo ramble x
The best country to travel alone is Australia, most backpackers travel alone. I did 12 months and had the time of my life. The age range of backpackers are 18 - 70, don’t think it is only for students. I was in my 30’s.
This was such a lovely vlog... I have always erred on the side of caution... I'm 53 now and you have inspired me to push my boundaries thank you 🎒👢🍂🌰📷🍀💕
Hi Catherine I love a bit of solo travel as can be as selfish as you want!! I’m lucky I love flying n travelling been to London, Spain, Turkey and New Zealand on my own worst part is the said dinner for one and people asking you did you just get divorced why are you on your own but that’s only a tiny part of the adventure!! Thanks another great video my first trip was 1 week sun hol to Turkey too by the way but I’d been there 2 years before so I knew the lay of the land which makes a big difference!! xx
thank you for this video and inspiration. First plane i've ever been on, was when i moved to Ireland :D Funny I know. Go big or go home :D Not me. First year here we drove the ferry over to holyhead. Drove the way down to Birmingham then London and back to Swansea and stretched that out for 6 days and was AMAZING. Only thing is, I've never been away on my own except for one night i flew over to Birmingham for the night for an event. Was nice. But I bring my kids with me so they can say they've been somewhere. they were with us for the UK trip. was suppose to be in Scotland this last Easter break. :S Poo. Need to take a trip alone or just spouse and I
I love to travel when I can , there is people saying oh you are going to go there that’s bad did you see what happen there , I don’t get scare I research but if you are going to be scare of traveling you don’t go anywhere and traveling alone is not bad it all , be careful and enjoy it like you say collect memories , and learn experience new things thank you for such a nice video 🍀🌹
When I saw this vlog it tool me back to when I started solo traveling. To be honest India was the first place I went but I did volunteer work so I stayed in a safe place. I got so many people telling me it is dangerous and all that. To be fair all of that could happen to me here in the country where I live, no one is worried about that. Liked when you said hostels are a great place to meet people and I think a lot of people think that you always have to share a room in a hostel but you don't. I went to Liege, in begium, with a friend and he stayed in a prived room. He still met people in the common areas.
Loved this! And solo travelling is on the top of my list for 2019!! I think you should organise a group solo travelling holiday if that makes sense 😂. for people starting off solo travelling
I’ve never been anywhere but Canada lol. I do regret so you are my hero! Maybe I will start even if it’s a short one at first. I appreciate it so much when you take us too, Thank you! I would love to come to Ireland as I have unmet family there and well I’m Irish so I’d love to see it. Maybe not meet the family though lol! They may think I’m nuts!
Thank you Catherine. Loved the vid! Have done the baby steps, need to get moving on the big ones now! Was thinking you looked fab at the start of video then remembered your insta stories & that you’d no pants! 🤭😂 You still look fab tho😍
Hello, just started watching your channel. You seems like a down-to-earth sweet young lady. Enjoy watching your channel. Love your tea cups collections as well as your darling home. Think about visiting Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - Just a thought!
How are you able to afford the travels you go on plus buy a home? Im intrigued! I barely make it through one month then the next one comes lol. Youre right though if you can visit places alone or with someone, do it!
This is a great video! I would love to solo travel somewhere abroad outside the UK in the near future 😊 Just fyi, describing south east Asians as 'oriental' is perceived as negative since oriental is used to describe objects not people. Just Asian would do 😊
Have you tried doing more staycations? maybe train travel or bus, It is much cheaper to fly in Ireland to Europe. We can get flights sometimes for €20 to london which is great. I remember traveling internally in the US and found it so expensive. Thanks so much for watching!
there is much to see in California where I live, but i have seen MOST of it. Most of us drive to travel. Gas is 3.24 us dollars a gallon right now. I would LOVE LOVE to get to the Carlsbad Caverns. That wouldnt be too much money and would be a great hike. I really enjoy your lovely accent and your adorable candor. Have a blessed week!!
I think airfare can be expensive. So I try to find cheaper flights and yes it can be diffucult. I found this app, it is called secret flying. I find it has some good deals but I can't just get time off from work when I see a good deal on there sadly, i have seen a lot. Most are from America.
You are seriously a human version of a cup of tea. Xxxx
Lol, I hope thats good, I do love tea x ! thanks for watching x x x x
there’s nothing better than tea soothing for the soul 😊😊, thank you for making your videos and making us all smile 💕💕 xxx
yes she is...☺️. A good comparison.
Zara yes perfectly said!

Dubai is awesome. Used to live there in the 1980, it has changed but kept its character.
Your tip on downloading the map so you can use it offline is genius, thank you from a fellow solo female traveller!
Good on you for travelling and also for doing it solo. When I was younger my friend and I had planned our trip to Europe . however, she met someone fell in love and got married. I love that you backpacked! Thats amazing, so glad you got to see so many pretty places. Thanks so much for watching x
You are absolutely adorable. Thank you for the advice. Love your videos. They are great 😊
Well done encouraging us to go solo!
"Take only memories, leave only footprints".

Wow, you are amazing! You flew a plane! xxx
Hi Catherine we are so glad that you are able to travel and we hope you have many more safe adventures.
Thanks so much for watching Cathy! x
Oh wow! I love the solo trip idea! I've done a couple day trips alone. I'm single and most of my friends are married or have busy schedules. So, not anyone to go with. I've got to try this:) I love your confidence. You are such an inspirational for all of us💕
I'm so proud of you and do so admire you! I just love your attitude! Never wait! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much for watching Susan x
Thank you, I seriously needed to hear this. I am already thinking of what I want to accomplish in 2019 and a solo trip is going on my list.
Yay, I am glad that I could inspire you! thanks for watching x
What wonderful information, advice and outlook!
Glad you think so Sally, thanks for watching x
I was watching your video while crafting myself a pair of earings and a bracelet (you inspire to DIY 😉). You reminded me of how terrified I used to be by myself. The first time I went downtown shopping I thought everybody was staring at in in the subway and in the mall (look! she's all by herself!) No one cared. I wanted to go see Sens and Sensibility and back then it was 2 years before it was available for DVDs. I went, enjoyed the film, in English and laughed quite a lot. There you go. I had stopped being scare of being alone in public places. (BTW my name means "blind courage" 😛)
Yay! I love that story, thanks for watching x
I just loved this video! It put a smile on my face! You go girl! Love your confidence, not enough people enjoy their own company. Nice Nice Nice!
Thanks Kathy! Thanks so much for watching x

I love this! Thanks so much for watching and commenting x
you have a great personality
Brilliant thank you. You really inspired me and have so much wisdom and courage.
Somethings I’d add :
Go to fancy meals in your home town on your own. No reason to not splurge on yourself and have a fancy meal just because you’re on your own. And most times people might actually be thinking ‘damn s/he’s got courage and spunk. Wish I could be like her/him or that gives me confidence to do to for
myself next time.’
AirBNB is an amazing resource as long as you choose ones with many great reviews and/or Superhosts.
Also the more I travel the more I have been deeply touched by how kind people are and that the world is not so scary after all.
Dainty Diaries aw thank you ever so much 💗 💗
When COVID is over I’m solo travelling to the UK.
Love your videos!!!!!
Thanks so much Amy x
The best country to travel alone is Australia, most backpackers travel alone. I did 12 months and had the time of my life. The age range of backpackers are 18 - 70, don’t think it is only for students. I was in my 30’s.
Really loved that video & thank you for answering my question 😍 Your so brave.. so I'm off to feel the fear and do it anyway!!
Thanks Emma! Thanks so much for watching and for the question x
I have traveled all over the United States and to many other countries, 99% of it I did alone. I enjoy traveling alone too.
Great video Catherine!!! I’ve yet to take the plunge and travel on my own, but maybe one day!
I so love your confidence and inspiration!
Awesome!! Time for me to plan a solo trip!!
Thanks so much for watching Theresa x
Thanks so much for watching Monica, keep up the solos travel! x
Great Q&A...loved your answers...tfs...continued blessings in all your travels...🌸🌸🌸
Amazing lady love watching all your trips x
Great advise and swell video. Your enthusiasm and spirit is wonderful. Thanks. Such great news

Yes, that makes sense, that is a great idea! x
I wish we crossed paths while you were in Lisbon! Also, my name is the Portuguese version of yours - Catarina ✨ wish you the best 💕
Aw fab, when I went on the photography walk my guide called me Catarina x

I’ve never been anywhere but Canada lol. I do regret so you are my hero! Maybe I will start even if it’s a short one at first. I appreciate it so much when you take us too, Thank you! I would love to come to Ireland as I have unmet family there and well I’m Irish so I’d love to see it. Maybe not meet the family though lol! They may think I’m nuts!
Currently on holiday with my partner who's I'll so I'm on my own basically. Thanks for the tips. Xx
Aw I hope they get better soon! x

Dainty Diaries oh god. How creepy does that make me sound! 🙈
Hello, just started watching your channel. You seems like a down-to-earth sweet young lady. Enjoy watching your channel. Love your tea cups collections as well as your darling home. Think about visiting Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - Just a thought!
Good advice. You’re right, people don’t care about you eating alone.
Thanks Teresa, thanks for watching x
How are you able to afford the travels you go on plus buy a home? Im intrigued! I barely make it through one month then the next one comes lol. Youre right though if you can visit places alone or with someone, do it!
Hi. Love the Vlog. Enjoy. ⭐👍⭐🌈⭐Mags
Thanks so much for watching Margaret x
Great tips. You made me start thinking of solo traveling myself... I will let you know did I really go anywhere! :D Hugs!
Have fun on your adventures when you go! thanks for watching x

This is a great video! I would love to solo travel somewhere abroad outside the UK in the near future 😊
Just fyi, describing south east Asians as 'oriental' is perceived as negative since oriental is used to describe objects not people. Just Asian would do 😊
Thanks so much for the correction, I don't want to accidentally offend xxxx Have an amazing trip! x
@@DaintyDiaries no problem! I know you didn't mean to offend 😊 looking forward to the next video xx
👍
Am ur 38181 sub.. Hope u keep entertaining us 😊😊😀
Thanks for subbing!
@@DaintyDiaries welcome dear
I’ve traveled alone, but I prefer traveling with girlfriends to giggle with.
There are many single people in the world nowadays. Nothing to worry about.
If you ever decide to go to Los Angeles please please please contact me 😉
not afraid to travel, but its the MONEY! very expensive to fly
You have inspired me to travel more. Love your video❤️🇨🇦
