SEED STORIES | Uzbek Golden Carrot: Sturdy Carrot of Central Asia
Вставка
- Опубліковано 15 чер 2020
- Central Asia is the crossroads of the carrot world, where the two main varietal forms -- Daucus carota atrorubens and Daucus carota sativus -- met and intermingled as they made their way around the world. The Uzbek Golden carrot is a tasty, hardy grower that we think should be better known in American gardens! If you struggle to grow carrots, this is a great one to try.

**Correction: Uzbekistan grows two million metric tons of carrots each year, not two metric tons as we say in the video.
Another episode of "things that would have made me like school if they were ever taught" series
Love the seed stories!!!!
I really love the seed stories! We are a homeschooling family and they make a nice addition to our garden planning lessons. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Same! I find them so interesting and well done!
People like you make me not give up on all humans. It's beautiful that you home school your children.
Do you also view Charles Dowding's no-dig videos--a wealth of knowledge taught in a manner that is so easy to understand by such a nice gentleman!
C'est moi, Kim! No but I will definitely look it up! Thank you!
Teeko Train thank you but I believe public schools are amazing and I wish we could/would provide as individualized experiences for everyone. We just move around a lot so homeschooling fits us. And we can fit in amazing gardening videos!
Awesome video. Love seed stories too from a historical perspective.
Love the history, research and around the world usage of carrots family.

Have you guys at rare seeds ever heard of@_earthgrowers.com on Instagram- I was referred by the admin for a yt channel... supposedly they gave( give?) lessons to/ for homesteaders,or homesteading....I was not able to get a response from them- ...months prior to current virus Insanity/ coercion. . do y'all ever give lessons.. classes..or whatever correct wording would be...if a body could somehow/ someday get there to where y'all are... there's so much to learn~
they look so appetizing. one of those foods that you take right out of the ground and eat. dont have to cook. i thnk thats why they are so popular, that and the sugar content and antioxidants. dont juice, that takes away the fiber.
Does anyone know how many days to harvest these carrots?
about 73 days!
golden carrot
💚
I'm very interested in finding a recipe for the rice dish mentioned.
What's up with the green shoulders on these carrots? Is this an unavoidable characteristic of this variety of carrot? Typically with carrots green shoulders are to be avoided because they make that part of the carrot taste bitter.
It is typical for this variety, however, it shouldnt be as bitter you are used to on that green part
only "2 metric tons"? REally, that doesnt seem like a lot.....
I'll eat dis and fight the zombies
