I was on a flight into Liverpool today and I was craning my neck to look out the window at your fields, wtf have you done to me Olly, I wasn't into farming before you, Tom, Charlotte and Joe.
Hi Olly, Justin is on the right track re the bolts, stainless in known for is anti rusting properties but can also be quite week, depending on its composition, mild steel or steel if high carbon & Harden & Tempered is almost unbreakable, girders in bridges (Forth Rail Bridge are steel!) are steel. Good videos.
Keep any couplers from the pipe that you don’t need…if you have a damaged bit of pipe, cut the damaged bit out and use coupler to join pipe together again 😊
Superb blog Olly - quote of the day “that lower bearing has gone, never mind it will be alright for today” Ha ha! It certainly made a lovely job of the trench and laying the pipe, should make a world of difference to that area of ground. Excellent stuff.
very sandy land look satisfying to drain. i have boggy/peaty land in the west of Ireland and once you cut the surface its pure black and waterlogged, with a layer of clay which you have to get rid of as grass won't grow through it. Also I have been told to not put pipes in my tile drains as they will eventually block but I try to put some all around pipes to prevent this. Nice to see such an effect machine doing drainage, beats the 6 tonne digger and powerbox on a tractor
Drainer looks the part on the zeroin for sure. Stainless bolts and not good for shear as they are fairly soft and don’t shear clean. The 8.8 “all thread” aren’t great either as will crush up in the thread and wear the side of the bolt hole. Just order some 10.9 high tensile bolts with a shoulder that goes all the way through the fixings. They should shear clean and not damage the bracket.
55% today first proper day at work since diagnosis and really tired great video that drainer on the Xerion seems like a match made in heaven. I reckon lorry drivers can smell a kettle because they always turn up at brew or dinner time, keep up the great work you’re video each day is always enjoyed and looked forward to
The ones threaded all the way are called "Set Screws" and the one not threaded all the way is called a "Bolt", Generally bolts are stronger but being Stainless it is not. Stainless bolts are not weak, but they are weaker than your 8.8 set screws. For what you are using them for, your be probably better off with a 10.9 bolt or even 12.9 if you are able to source one
I was so close to you last Wednesday night, just didn’t realise Olly. I was delivering to Tesco off Desoto road. Thursday night a few mile further away at Gousto Warrington, side of the M62. Today was a 98%. 👍🇬🇧
Olly really enjoyed the vid today again , I remember the winters of my first couple of years of apprenticeship on the two farms that's all we did and in one place it was so wet the digger driver had to walk the 180 using front and back buckets . Thanks mate 😊
Sheer bolts are special bolts that have a sheer spot built into them so they sheer at a certain torque. Those are just normal bolts!! May not sheer clean !!
Your trencher does a great job it’s a good job you can get under that bridge we always covered are drains with stone cost a lot more but well worth it It must be good having your own drainer you can do a bit any time. Your on some very light land there bit different from ares feeling 95% today another great video Ollie
I got one of those laser levels a few years back after seeing your one. It was great value and very handy for a good few jobs. The instructions aren't great. Any chance you'd show how to set up a fall/slope with it?
Depending on the application you're probably better off with the mild steel bolts, rather than the stainless. Stainless isn't necessary stronger than mild steel. Different alloys.
Mr p, you talked about setting the linkage to float. But on most tractors the hydraulic rams for the linkage are single acting, so it goes up if it wants to anyway? So it has a natural flow. Or can you "block" that on electric linkage controls?
Hey olly - Please can you tell me how deep was the deepest poit you layed the drainage pipe - thanks - or if any one else is watching this whats the deepest you have installed plastic drainage ??? thanks - aj
Don’t how much trencher cost or how long you’ve had it but sure bet it’s paid for itself by now. Only rice goes in wet water logged conditions good job done
Really envy you guys with the drainage, over here in Wisconsin if your in any farm program (subsidies) you have to tell them your intention then they’ll come out to inspect your property to make sure your not endangering any low lands and sensitive areas before you start, cost is about $2 a foot, and by the way while am telling you this, farmers in the USA have NOT received any farm payments for the last two years, this year no one knows at this point wether farmers will receive any government farm payments, anyway, glad to see your making progress, l am led to believe by a relative of mine who used to work for a drainage company, 1 inch to one chain fall is the minimum you can do to get the drains to run, did you know that too?
@@OllyBlogsAgricontractfarmer sorry, for every 22 yards, it falls on inch, that’s the minimum amount of fall so the water will run in the drainage pipes, hope that makes sense.
Birthday Bumper - leave the youtube logo, remove #team bateman. Alternatively place the UA-cam logo at the bottom of the windscreen, along with "we're trying to fly a helicopter"
Cool video Olly love a bit of trenching ESPECIALLY when tractor driven 👌🏻the race was fun 😂😂
excllent tool the claas xerion on the drainer nice job well done playing catch up this week
Thanks 👍

My wife says the same

That soil looks fantastic!

Didn’t watch the whole video before commenting 🫣
Love seeing the trucks, they keep them so smart. Thanks Olly and take care.

thanks olly enjoyed video thanks mate 👍
That race across the field was 'class' no pun intended.
Please sell the 2 fendts and fastrac for 2 more of those big class beasts 😍
That was fascinating to see today’s video 👍👍
Brilliant video, love the Xerion on drainage!!
Any chance of a roundabout update,I do miss them 🤣
Yes, soon
really like watching that machine, no lake to go through this time! Thanks Olly
Olly get walkie talkies they would be great help to you

Great video olly, xerion and the drainer look good together. Leave you tube on. 90%.
very intresting and not to long
Hi olly another cracking vid
87% today 🏴🚚💨
Great vid today topped off with a great clip having that race down the field Xerion looks claas fairplay 😁👍

Great content
Leave the bumper as it is bud !
Looks kool and think would look strange without it now .
Is the bridge that you had to check the hight on is. That the one that a car drouned in and you had to save the driver
Yeah
Get some gravel on top of that pipe🙈

Yer they had none in though 🤦♂️
The xerion is definitely the tractor for the drainage machine 💪🏻
Was always told Ss bolts were more likely to shear than a steel bolt, there not recommended for suspension for that reason..
Nice One Olly Thanks again

Use the steel bolt, set screws are weaker, stainless just stretch
Use the 8.8 mate it's stronger than A2 stainless 👍
Great video olly that’s a savage outfit the Corvus is earning its keep I’m 99%today

Evening olly love the videos keep all the amazing work up and rip to joes scania business
Have to say I really enjoyed todays video 👍 well done on your hard work
Stainless is brittle because of the chromium, mild steel/high tensile much stronger
good job
That claas is a beast!!!!
You’re like Colombo with your “just one more thing” 😂
Great video as always olly 👍👍👍👍
Super Vid Qlly...
Xerion is a beast. I'll be optimistic and say 388 on the dyno.👍

👍🏻
😎
Need some 20mm over that to keep your drainage working 💪
Just make sure you are using some kind of antiseize grease if you are using stainless bolts.
I have the same laser level… cheap and cheerful 😂
It would look better to have Agri Contract instead of youtube. Might give you better trade in price too when the time comes 🤠😎
Put the UA-cam sign on the bottom of the window olly
Maybe a smaller UA-cam logo? 👍
Depending on the application you're probably better off with the mild steel bolts, rather than the stainless. Stainless isn't necessary stronger than mild steel. Different alloys.
UA-cam sticker got to be on , write smaller 😂
if you look at the head of your bolts the number stamped on it relates to its breaking strain the higher the number the stronger the bolt
That smoke that was coming out of the draner could have been the Bering going
It was

Hi Olly. What do you reckon of GCS machinery Tim and Mike. They to me are good. Great service. Because I'd like this Xmas run to join you.
Why do you do draining . Good video 👍. 80%.
Just buy a bigger sprayer . 😆 🤣 😂
Does this drainage system even work if you don't add sand on top? Will the mud not clog the drain hose?
It’s sandy soil
@@OllyBlogsAgricontractfarmer Cheers mate! Hope it works wonders!
put the youtube sticker on the windscreen
Lyons here has teh Turn around i thought they were standard
dont use stainless bolts they will shear way before steel ones been there tried that many years ago on a sub soiler
Is it not necessary special material around the pipe to prevent dirt from getting in?
Nar
Hey olly - Please can you tell me how deep was the deepest poit you layed the drainage pipe - thanks - or if any one else is watching this whats the deepest you have installed plastic drainage ??? thanks - aj

Boom
The Xerion will be 338 hp
I can't imagine that cheap pipe doesn't fill full of dirt with no stone or fabric over it.
Don’t normally have problem
Hi
Do you not need to put stone on top of that pipe?
We did day after

Stainless bolts are not as strong as 8.8s as stainless is more brittle
👀🙄🐾👍
Pretty sure that ss bolts are the same as 12.9

🤣🤣😢
8.8 vs A2.70 r like 6.8 A8.18 r like 8.9 bolts
Thanks
Well Andrew didn't break sweat at that job 😀
I live in rexam
Not being woke but surely once on the road there should be some sort of hi viz coat or something over the back of the drainage rig ?
It’s not that long 🤷♂️
Hi Olly, for 2yrs running you have failed to put me on birthday bumpber
How much did you donate?
Did you donate
Happy Birthday buddy
Obviously doing something wrong
Happy birthday Bill!
Not too sure if its your or not. But you have leaked either your phone number or kramps phone number at 5:38.
