I've just come across this clip and watching it brought tears to my eyes. I was a drummer in the band of the Duke of York's Royal Military School in Dover, UK from 1955 - 1960 and this march, Sons of the Brave was our official school march. thank you for uploading it.
Peter Wilson....Same here Clive, 1948 - 1951, Kitchener House, just adjacent on the quadrant to the band room, I playing the euphonium. Living here in Sydney Aus. since 1970.
I also was at The Duke of Yorks Royal Military School from 1955-60 and played flute and Bugle in the Corps of Drums. Yes this was the marching speed. Very proud to have been a Dukie
Another ex-Dukie...I was there rom 1963 to 1968 (Kitchener & Wolfe). Played cornet in the band. Still playing cornet in a Salvation Army band in Melbourne, Australia.
No.light infantry is 160 to the minute as against standard march tempo of 120. However, many bands out marching at events and public parades will actually go at around 116 as you can hear from the recordings.
@@bobanderson8886 -light infantry or rifle regiments are 140/minute but when various regiments are parading together, the speed for all in the parade is 120/minute (been there-done that!) Although I do remember our rifle regiment having to go on coffee break while the rest of the parade caught up ! Black Watch arrived the next day! LOL
zie het niet als kritiek, alle lof voor marsen maar deze is volgens mij opgenomen met 45rpm in plaats van 33 rpm,het tempo van een mars is 120 tellen per minuut.

If they really march with this tempo, they'd be jogging :D
only Rifles Jog, Guards, not so much
its tempo is normal here in the PH :D
Armchair General
for this "speed" it was usually in germany to use stechschritt.
Yes stechschritt the remnant of Germany's glorious past. Shame the kaiser's days are gone
Armchair GeneralStandard British military quick march pace is 120 to the minute, but that of Light Infantry regiment is 140, and its not jogging!.

They played it when Chris Patten arrived in Hong Kong, in 1992.

Who came here from HowdyBii?
Music to my old School song. Memories.
This march is part of the repertoire of the Taunton City Band.
I would love to play this in band, this sounds super good
This is about 128 paces per minute.Slightly faster than when our band in Malaysia marched to it. Normally we were strictly 120 paces per minute.
ニッポン放送ショウアップナイター!
Is this a Light Infantry march? It is going at one HELL of a lick. Even a Gurkha outfit would be in trouble at this speed!
Gurkhas march much quicker. 140 paces per minute.

True, but on studio's for recording or playing in a concert, marches often are played faster... We did it too...

"NICE PP :D"
i saw the fijian army marching to this
Beautiful, but I would have to agree that is way too fast a tempo for marching!
I agree with buffets1 it too fast the tempo of this march. But it is a good performance by the H.M.Royal Marines Band.
It's a recording! Of course it would be slightly slower on the march! Clowns!
actually not by much just marched to this today and it was quite brisk
Good performance, but I wonder if they would really march in this tempo?
i have more british old song than famous dj like alan walker or marsmallow

Las marchas son hermosas, pero estos ingleses..., no dejan descargarlas.
Jammer dat Engelse Bands elke mars beschouwen als een "quick march".

Great march, but played too fast. Would not like to have to march at this tempo.
