I'm originally from Workington too. My family still live there. When I saw this disaster, with my own eyes, and the devastation of the aftermath, it was beyond belief. Workington and Cockermouth, have suffered many floods in the past, with nothing in comparision to this amount of water going through the towns. Almost 2 years on both towns, are just getting back, on their feet again! Bill Barker, a brave Policeman, put his own life on a line, for other peoples safety. You are a Saint Bill. RIP. xx

I'm originally from Workington, where my family still live, and saw the devastation for myself.
I loved watching your video although it make me so sad to see my home town on it's knees. It hit the point without being over dramatic and self pitying. Well done.
Thank God for the Cumbrian spirit!

As someone who was living in Dacre when the 2015 floods occured I totally sympathise with this video and the people of Workington....HOWEVER, the signs were all there for the 2015 disaster weeks in advance, and it really does highlight how some "environmental law changes" are NOT for the better...ie not dredging becks and rivers because of newts??!!! building housing on flood planes (not so much in Cumbria, but it applies country wide)

Thank you, I'm glad you liked my short film. It was a little emotional watching it for the first time once I'd finished the editing. There's still a huge amount of work to be done here but the Cumbrian spirit remains as strong as ever. The temporary road bridge which is now open has made a monumental difference to the area.

as a former workington lad i found the video to be emotional and it certainly typifies the in-activity of of possiitive government action just a pity its not mumbai mayby more would be done and put right with more emergency

Life is far more important that stone, mortar and metal. So worry about the latter later.

Now the bridge is nearly finished, you should do a video about it.

Thanks for your comment. I'm glad you found it emotional as that proves that the work has the desired effect. Yes, many locals have said that if the disaster had happened in London then the politicians would not have taken 4 months to decide when and where to build a temporary road bridge... the bridge would have been built and made operational within a fortnight.

@blulizzie3 If it made you sad then it's served its purpose. I made this to raise awareness of the situation at the time. Thanks for your comment.

That's an idea I have thought about a few times. It's quite a lot of work so I'll need to make sure there will be an audience for it. Also, I'm not sure whether now would be a good time to film it or if I should wait for the bridge to be completed.
