The English Premier League is the most popular soccer/football league in the United States despite there being several leagues such as MLS and USL domestically in the USA. So we spoke to some Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur fans to see why they love the Premier League and why they think others in America do as well

Two years ago, I watched a Liverpool game at a bar with a friend of mine and absolutely loved the atmosphere of all the fans, everyone is invested into it and I wanted more of it. I’ve never missed a Liverpool game since. I wish i had gotten into it years ago. Great video!!
Loads of goals, fast paced, exciting. Top players and great history too. I love all football but the epl is amazing.
Arguably the best league in the world that also speaks the same language and has a shared ancestry with a huge portion of Americans. That is probably the reason why.
In these past 2 years I became a big soccer fan, and I picked AC Milan and in these last few months, my Grandpa has started watching it because of me, and eventually he wanted me top help him choose a premier league team to support, and he ended up choosing Spurs. Now he's Tottenham till' he dies!
Love hearing how more and more people are getting into the game. If only he chose Man U 🤣
Should have chosen an MLS team.
Should of chosen Liverpool 💯
Mate, you trying to kill off your grandpa!? Supporting spurs will stress you out. Being 'spursey' is an verb and it means to bottle it or being referred to as a clown show. Better off supporting a team you may relate to especially if you're from the old country and you have links to.
I'm always intrigued by the reasons why people (who are lucky enough to make that decision on their own) choose the club they do. When people ask me to help them settle on a club, I pay attention to their family history or where they grew up. Someone from Detroit with a working class background would have a natural affinity for North West clubs, like Liverpool or Manchester United, someone from NYC would probably gravitate to the more affluent London clubs. Manhattan would be Arsenal or Chelsea, Brooklyn is more Sp••s (gave away my allegiance there, right?) and the Bronx would be West Ham. How did your Gramps settle on _those_ people?
Especially this season I have never seen such quality football, each week there are massive up sets when teams that should be beaten beat the top teams Newcastle being the latest victims , it’s the most competitive league in the world and you never can take form for granted
The Premier League is easily accessible here.
Simple fact the premier league is the best most fast paced aggressive competitive league in the world it’s that easy !!!!
Ssshhh!! Don’t mention that so called Jockish League mate. 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🏴🏴
100% Prem is the best league in the world it is very watchable always some drama going on and amazing moments.
The PL is way more competitive than the other big European leagues. Teams in the bottom 5 often beat the top teams. With Spain, Germany and Italy, you know the smaller teams will get beat every time by the big boys who only have a handful of really competitive games a season domestically.
major factor is the timezone if we could watch american sports in europe africa etc they would be very popular but they are on at like 3am
That poor first guy. He could have picked one of the Manchester clubs but went Spursy instead. Don't bother buying a lottery ticket, mate!
Aye, he’s voluntarily opted for a life of pain, misery and disappointment.
When he started supporting Spurs Man City were in the third division ffs 😂
@mikem8211 Still a better bet than Spurs.
It’s the most exiting league in the world. Teams at the bottom can beat teams at the top, this isn’t in any other league.
Yup look at Manchester United every bottom teams beat them
European Football was named in 1865, it's Football played with the feet
The very same year that Nottingham Forest Football Club we’re formed making them the oldest team in the League.
In this video, he only talked with two native born Americans. All the other guys have probably followed football ("soccer") all along.
I mainly watch women's soccer but when I watch men's, it's Premier League.
For crying out load, please drop that word “Soccer” it’s FOOTBALL!! 🤬🏴
Not much more to say apart from Walk on, walk on... in my heart.... such a sad time
The English league, which later became the Premier league was what most Americans were exposed to first. Before the 1990 World Cup, there was basically no Soccer on TV in the US. Those that were lucky enough to have access to Spanish TV stations would get to see games from time to time. These were usually replays of South American team games. Every once in a while it would be a game from England. I think maybe it was Fox Sports who first started showing games from England after the 90 World Cup. Usually 1 game a week and it was always Arsenal, Man United, and sometime Liverpool. Chelsea was still a mid table club with no $ or history at the time and Man City was a bottom table club still bouncing between Division 1 (Later the Premier League) and Division 2 ( Later known as the Championship). That is why most older, 45+ fans in the US support Arsenal and United. US Spurs fans are just hipsters. 1994 really got everyone interested, but even when the MLS was started, it was easier to watch the premier league than MLS. It took several years to be able to catch ALL of your favorite MLS teams games in a season, on TV. By that time people had become so accustom to the quality of the premier league that they just prefer it over MLS.
I don't thinknits marketing.. I think it's the accessibility to watch games compared to the past
Just wait until they see the Championship 😂
Any Forest fans there?
premier league fan: man city fan, love watching the game
Another Plastic then! Lol. 🏴👍🏻
Took a lot of guts admitting that , respect 👍
Respect bro❤
Mls old players go from Europe messi nearly 40 and makes mls look easy.
Why the hell are the Christmas decorations up in that bar...in September?
I believe it was Wizzars who said “I wish it could be Christmas everyday”. Maybe Roy Wood owns the bar?
At first glance of the spurs fan, I thought it was that bkb fighter goodJohn I think he is called
God hearing Americans say soccer is cringe buuut any love for British sports earns respect in my books so have at it 😁
Our Football Association or (F.A.) Premier League is the best Football League in the World.
BUT North Americans ... its good that you like The World Game of Football, yet you need to support your own teams in your own country and make The World Game of Football Grow and Prosper in The U.S. and Canada!.
Man city
Uh oh
He's not alone...Cityzen from Tempe AZ
The main reason is it isn't the English Premier League, it's been the American Premier League for quite a while. It may be staged in England but apart from a couple of Arab clubs it's owned by Yanks.
You are right! It's worse than I thought! Arsenal, Villa, Bournemouth, Chelsea, Palace, Fulham, Ipswich, Liverpool and ManU. In the Championship there's Burnley, Cardiff City, Leeds, Millwall, Norwich, Pompey, Swansea and West Brom.
Not at Forest they aren’t, we have the best owner that could own a Club. Mr. Marina kid is a God send! Youuu Redssss! 👍🏻🏴
@@kevinlinley3273 I wasn't trying to imply they were all bad owners. We have them at Pompey too and we've had a lot worse, in fact since the late 50's only Mandaric could be considered better.
They won't invest money in the team, but they were honest and said they wouldn't when they bought the club. They have spent money on the real estate, but my biggest gripe with them is the way they have abandoned any attempt to develop players.
@ yeah I see where you’re coming from Ron. We’ve had our share of pricks too mate but we have now got what I and the vast amount of Forest fans believe to be probably the best owner that we could wish for. This man has backed the Manager whenever he asked for transfer money and they are now starting to build a good strong squad. The defence is sorted and now they are looking at midfield options and another forward and we will just have to ride this trip and see how far it takes us. Good luck for the rest of the season bud. NFFC. 🏴👍🏻
Totenham and Asenal...two of the most unsuccessful teams in the past 20 years... being interviewed by a man united supporter who hasn't won a title in 13 years, ho the irony 😂😂😂
😂😂
How is that irony?
akifenwa???? haha
It’s been good this year because manchester city are crap
always funny to hear american talk about FOOTBALL
doesn't have the shit parity that so many MLS fans go on about 🤣 football is massive in America just not that MLS shit
I say this as an Englishman, It is Great that you like The World Game of Football ... BUT support your own clubs in your own Country and help it Grow ... All trees started with a small seed !.
@@merseydave1 I do support here, i watch USL, MLS is monopolyzing local soccer here in the states and I wont be apart of it.
@@toebarrtalks Am I right in thinking U.S.L. is the next league under M.L.S. ?
@@merseydave1, yes, it's the second division. They've been vocal about implementing pro/rel, whereas MLS stays firm on owning this sport in the States and keeping it a closed system.
@@toebarrtalks Good On Yer ... I have heard about that division "it sounds like they are the one's who are forward thinking" May The World Game of Football grow and prosper in the U.S. and I support you!.
