Good job Papa. I met Michael B in Nashville a few years ago. I was picking up some gear at RockBlock guitars “a small shop” and I asked the sales staff about Kemper and AxFx. I was jonesing to upgrade my Rocktron Prophesy rig. Later I left the shop and a guy called out across the parking lot. I met Michael Britt and also got the lowdown on all things Kemper. He was incredibly nice and genuine. I bout my Kemper a few days later. Blessings to you both.

Thanks for the great video! I'm 8 weeks into my KPA now & love it! I'm trying to use mine as a "jack of all trades" recording box for creating tracks. Which means always using Rig Manager for unlimited presets, better searching and folder organization etc. Now if only Kemper would make their amazing Delays & reverbs into a Native AU multi-fx plugin that could communicate with the hardware. This way I could find a great preset, mute the fx, insert the plugin to have the same fx chain instantly... and have flexibility during the rest of the mix. I don't have enough inputs on my Apollo & i know I could record separate everything, but that's way to hard editing separate take folders... when I need to work fast building tracks. I've tried to get Logic to sync the time based fx by midi clock but I can't get it to work. That would help for recording too.

Michael Brit is clearly the man when it comes to Kemper. But ducking is pretty standard on high end gear. Many of the Helix effects have as do all the Fractal delays. That said after hearing one of his Dumble profiles on a kemper stage unboxing video, I had to go out and order one. Can't wait for it to get here.

Guys any of you playing your kemper at home - any recommendations for some ok speakers for monitoring?
I've been trying to adjust all my tones using fairly good headphones but then trying them out in rehearsal with my friedman they sound terrible. I'd like to be able to tweak my tones at home at smaller/moderate levels and then just do some final touches on loud settings with band.
With headphones through my sound card (using main out on kemper to PC/card) it's just as if you'd put your ear right at the speaker, so I naturally start cutting all the nasty frequencies and then live - it just sounds dark and hollow.

    • @Luxdg

Karol Kozak Yamaha hs5 or hs7 if you need more power. They sound amazing with kemper. Best way to build your sound in my opinion

    • @joerg385

But be aware of the Fletcher-Munson-Effect: Sounds tweaked at lower volumes will sound quite different (EQ wise) at rehearsal/stage volumes.

1:32 Benefit of Kemper -number 1. Kemper will level out volume between totally different amps/profiles. (Profiles are not limited to a certain volume).
2:45 Fav tone : Divided by 13 LDW.
3:46 Benefit of Kemper -number 2 : Ducking feature.
Def: Ducking - when you play it will "duck" *reduce the volume) the delay, so it won't play over what you're actually playing.

6:47 Ex. of High Octave patch

I don't know man, sometimes even when digging into the Kemper forums, it seemed like everyone there was a paid shill. The results I personally experienced were nothing like any of the Kemper
promoters, or the fanboys in the forums, who if you mention not having a
great sound, would run through a huge list of reasons why it is your fault, and then start telling people to tweak the Kemper, which if anyone has used one, knows is like tweaking an alien spacecraft. I thought you weren't supposed to be messing around with tweaking, anyway? That was the original reason I purchased one, because everyone raved about how you just set it and forget it for the most part. "Tweaking is for Axe FX users". Heard that a million times, and then find that when you can't get a good sound on the Kemper, it's either your fault or you aren't tweaking enough. At least with the Axe I could get some great sounds, had a cohesive workflow, the output options I needed, and a PC based editor.

    • @BrettPapa
      @BrettPapa  4 роки тому +2

I've know quite a few pro's session and touring guitarists alike who bought theirs and get great results with them. For some it will never replace the real deal and for others the ease of use of another brand make that product more appealing. That being said to each his own. What works for some does not with others.

Haha! Funny thing is if I don't ask questions people ask me why I didn't. Been doing this a long time and have gotten this comment about 10 times. I will however take your criticism and work on it. Also there was some technical issues that were out of my control which is also why some of the sounds were not done for longer.

@@BrettPapa Bret your channel is killing it. And your vibe is great. Your comments and conversational inputs were great for a lay person new to kemper or different aspects of effects. Morphing. Ducking etc etc. Keep rocking
