Sartaj bhai, I'm from Chamba and live in Jammu. I have trekked with my students in Bhandal valley from Salooni upto a small glacier on this road from Bhaderwah to Chamba in 2012. I have always wanted to drive from Jammu to Chamba on this road and your wonderful video coverage of the route has inspired me further. Thanks for sharing this valuable document.
I tried my luck on July 7, Sartaj bhai. After crossing Padri from Bhaderwah side, my luck ran out a kilometer beyond HP Police Check-post. There was a huge land-slide blocking the road and the technician operating the JCB to clear it told me it would take at least 24 hours more to open the road. Dejected, I turned around and drove back to Jammu. Will give it another try some other day, insha Allah!
Ram Thakur.. Ohh.. Hard luck. Actually its raining nowadays in Chamba region. Chalo as u have crossed the HP checkpost, you have done the hard part of the journey.. In another 5-6 km , it's a smooth ride to Chamba. Better luck next time dear. If you can share the pics or video of that trip, it will be great.
Sartaj bhai main delhi se hun, mere do nahi teen sawal hai 1. Main banikhet to bhaderwah isi road se krna chahta hun, personal swift gadi theek rhegi ya is road par koi shared 4x4 vehicles public transport bhi chalte hai....? 2. Sep month theek rhega, jab is road ko bina kisi rukawat ke pura kiya jaye aur koi special permissions chahiye to wo kahan se milegi......? 3. Raste mein banikhet se leke bhaderwah tak, raste mein koi chote-chote hotels hai ya nhi, agar hai to kaha kaha-kaha, kyuki agar road ek do din ke liye block ho bhi jaye to waha ruk jaye, aur waha whiskey peete rhe, par aakhir mein road is road trip jaroor pura kare...?
Dear, thanks for asking. 1. Yes you can travel this road on your swift..I have Grandi10, and it worked for me. and that too it ws 4 years back. I hopes road condition is better nowadays. Yes there is public transport available but only up to last village from HP side, that is called Langera Village.. 2. Yes, Sep is fine and no permission is required to cross this pass. 3. There are some hotel in Salooni area on way from banikhet to bhaderwah.. You can take a break there if needed. Just check the weather update before leaving. Best wishes. Enjoy the ride..
Sartaj just came across your video of this journey. I was hoping to ride this on motorcycle probably in the month of September, hopefully after the heaviest part of monsoon season, however I had no idea the road was in such poor condition, do you know if any upgrades have been made? Thanks for posting this much appreciated.
Actually road from JK side is in better shape.. But surprisingly it is bad from himachal side. Few kms of road widening is in process. Let's hope for some improved stretch when the work concludes..
Akashdeep Singh. Hi Dear.. Thanks for viewing this video. I travelled on this road alone, n u can c in the video that there are hardly any vehicle on Road. Traffic improves on this road during summer, ie. July Aug September, n u will hardly get the parking place at padri top. I have done this in mid may n it was 3rd or 4th day when it is thrown open for public. If it is not raining, I think it will b fine to travel now. Rest is your luck. Keep travelling. :)
Very nice capture
Thanks 🙏
MashaAllah 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Jammu n Kashmir... Jana ho toh.... Yeh kikkar to kishtwar ka rasta hii haii yaa dusra rasta haii... Bahut dangerous rasta haii yehh tohhh
Ye dusra rasta hai. Ye Chamba ko JK se connect karta hai through padri pass. Killar wala Rasta dusra hai. Usme Sach pass k through aana hoga.
is road par bhaderwah se Chamba Jane mein Kitna time lagta hai
It will take around 4 to 4.5 hrs from Bhaderwah to Chamba headquarter..
beautiful destination

Very Poorly maintained road! It seems as if this region is still living in 1800.
