Chef Jeffrey, yes we had plum trees, peach trees, fig trees, mulberry trees, persimmons trees, pomegranates trees, etc. This is so ❤ 🤍 💙 🧡 🖤 ♥️ ❤ warming, remembering the good old days. I love plum jelly with buttered toast and biscuits. Thanks for the recipes, I need a jar right now. Stay safe.

I’ve taken notes from numerous canners on making plum jelly. Yours was the first using juice instead of water. Sounds good so I’ll definitely try it on my next batch. Thanks for your tips, I really enjoyed your video.

My Southern mother-in-law always made plum jam or jelly and even the years she spent in CA before coming back to Texas she had 2 plum trees in the backyard. We all had apricot and peach trees there and she did jams from those also.. but the plums were really so good.. I failed to get her tips on making her plum jam ..good thing Chef Jeffery has all this recorded! 🙌💖

You’re a great teacher! This is my first time watching a video of yours. You’re so genuine, I feel like I’m sitting on a stool in your kitchen. I have a Mexican plum that starting spitting its fruits. This is a surprise tree that I didn’t plant, and it’s the first year bearing fruit, so I am brand new to all of this. I picked the fruit up off the ground (when it’s ripened and falls), hoping it’s edible, and it is! I will be making jelly out of them, and it’s my first time doing that, too. So, thank you for helping people like me. You’re much appreciated!

I ate so many pinto beans as a child I grew to dislike them. As an adult I rekindled my love for pintos. I love your story about 'paying the squirrels' earlier in the year so they'll eat the acorns later. You live such a productive and appreciative life. You honor God everyday by cherishing the gifts he gave us.🙏🙏

Chef Jeffrey, this does bring back memories. My dad had plum trees too & my mom made plum jam. I even tried my hand making plum jelly here in Southern California. You’re giving me ideas about drying the seeds & trying a plum tree here in southern Ca. I’ll see how it goes next planting season. Thanks for yet another recipe.

Love it. It reminds me of guava jelly. I love sweet, red Santa Rosa plums too. Big ones grow in California.
Welch's sweet white grape juice also makes good fruit jellies. Too much pectin hardens jelly. You have to know what you're doing with it.

Thank you Chef Jeffrey for another GOOD video! My great grandparents had plum trees in the upper field-near the smoke house. That is where they butchered the hogs. My brother an I were set on the "rock wall' and dared to move. We decided that the plums were red from the hog blood. I've never gotten over it! Thank you for all you do.

They also made apricot peach plum and/or muscadine wine but us children could only taste it once per year at Thanksgiving dinner. 😍
Yes, we walked outside and inside barefoot when we were at home.😀

Chef J, Im about to think that we grew up in the same community😂. We had all sorts of fruit growing in our yard and pasture-plum,apple,fig,peaches,blackberry,blueberry and muscadine. It’s a shame that Ive never canned before. Im definitely gonna use this recipe. We grew up on this type of jelly. The only time that I can remember having store bought jelly is if someone was in the hospital and they happened to get one of those little packets of jelly😂

GM Chef Jeffery! Thank you for your plum canning recipe. Brings back memories of my father. Moved from W. Virginia to Michigan when I was young. Our home was just built. Nothing but dirt. My daddy planted everything by seed even the grass. He planted every fruit tree by seeds. Every flower by seeds. We had lived on a garden where he had the old plow to plant the seeds. I watched mama can and freeze everything. Her jelly and jams I loved. Apple butter was my favorite. I don't can as much as my mother but I do love canning bread and butter pickles, pickled beets, sauerkraut, and Kimchee. I go to the Amish markets alot to get my preserves. My children's grandmother cans alot of chow chow. I love it. Do you have a video of making Chow Chow?

Your plum jelly was my first attempt at jelly making. My question: I bought a large amount of honey crystals which in baking is used in the same amount as sugar. I just wanted a more healthy sweetener that isn’t refined. I used it on place of the sugar and it didn’t set so I emptied the jars added 1 more cup of honey crystals and another package of sure gel. It set a little more firm the second time. Do you have any experience with using honey crystals in place of sugar?
