  • Wacken 2015 went Stereo! Mit Savatage & TSO.
    War dies die Rock-Show des Jahres? Des Jahrzehnts? Sogar des Jahrhunderts? Tatsache ist: Was sich am Donnerstag, 30. Juli 2015, abends ab 21.45 Uhr auf den beiden größten Bühnen des Wacken Open Airs abspielte sucht seinesgleichen. Vor 90.000 Zuschauern spielten die wiedervereinigte amerikanische ProgRock-Band Savatage und das personell fast identisch besetzte Trans-Siberian Orchestra zeitgleich, ohne Sichtkontakt der Musiker, die teilweise gefühlte 150 Meter voneinander entfernt standen.
    Für Savatage war es die erste Show seit weit über zehn Jahren. Wir waren dabei, als die Show ihren Lauf nahm, haben unter anderem die Macher Paul O’Neill, Jon Oliva und Al Pitrelli getroffen, uns sämtliche Gitarren und Bässe beider Formationen zeigen lassen und den unbeschreiblichen Wahnsinn des Bühnenaufbaus angeschaut.       Savatage is a great band! Loved seeing them at Cadillac’s in hickory Nc. Small club. Cold sweat opened up!

      @@rickjones7416 we got an opportunity to see them on the Handful of Rain tour at a smallish club named The Magic Twanger near Cleveland OH very thankful to have made it to that show for so many reasons 🤩

    Wow! Jon slimed down a lot, he looks great. His performance at wacken was georgeous, i saw him several times during the last years (with jop).

    Nice interview, but I am somewhat disappointed that they didn't even mention Zak anywhere. Even where Paul speaks about vocalists, "Jon is the greatest vocalist of all time, .. and Kayla is great too, ... bla bla" - not a single word about Zak? Huh?

    Brutally honest opinion. Savatage can never be Savatage without Chriss. TSO pays the guys bills and more. More power to them but it is really cheesy to me. I doubt a guy like Chriss would ever have been into this.

      Criss would've evolved and absolutely loved the TSO project with his brother and Paul in addition to Savatage.

      @diascrive John Oliva, Criss passed away in thr 90's.
