    Very nice finish! I did nearly the same the last week to my fathers hammer. Because the handle broke. I’ve used the same handle but a little bit shorter. I enjoyed it very much. But I didn’t get a video. Now that I sawed your video I regret it. Nice job mate!

    I have to disagree with you Dimities, It is not 'Abuse'. But everyday 'Use', of such a tool. My Sledge is about 30 years old and has similar dents. Not that I can remember when they happened, but yes history of a well used tool. You made a draw knife about a year ago that you could have also used on the handle, and would have been a great tool to use seeing as you made it for such a project. Just yesterday I finished a similar project on a small axe I use for my carving. Great tip on using the hot glue for the re cutting on the bandsaw. I will use it in future instead of the tape I have used in the past. Great Project, thank you sir

    • @ScrapwoodCity
      @ScrapwoodCity  6 років тому

      Thank you my friend. I think I picked up the hot glue trick from a Jimmy Diresta video. It is really cool. The draw knife was pretty big for this handle. I prefer to use it on bigger stock.

  • @willybee3056
    @willybee3056 6 років тому +1

    Good job,,, thanks for sharing. ..
    Here is an idea for a high stress handle.
    Start with an over sized blank of strieght grained wood. And split off the outside of the blank. That way the center grain of the wood will be in the center of the blank on both ends . That way if you miss a strike with the hammer head, the handle will be less likely to have a diagonal split.
    This is just an idea. And in no way detracts from your skill and talent.
    Thanks again. 😆😆
