Looks fantastic...Papou would be proud
I hope so. When I was young I wasn't paying much attention to his tools. He was kind of disappointed about that. But the wheel did take a turn on that one! :)
@1:56 nifty trick using off cut as a guide. ty!!!
Great hammer! Nice job on the restoration.
thank you
Professional work, I am sure your grandfather will be very proud!!!

Looks great. I especially like the finish on that oak. I like having my dad's old tools around as well
Keeping family tools feels great. Couldn't realize that at a younger age.
Like like 10 the best congratulations mister 🖖🇺🇸

Thank you JP
You're very welcome friend! 😎
Looks fantastic dude! 😍
thanks Heath, glad you liked it
Great refurbishment on the sledge hammer, mate👍
Looks awesome, glad you kept the old wear marks on it, gives it some character👌
Thank you. Yes I really like those beat up marks.
Nice project! Really like the shape of the handle! 👍🏻
Thanks. It feels nice in my hand
Very nice finish! I did nearly the same the last week to my fathers hammer. Because the handle broke. I’ve used the same handle but a little bit shorter. I enjoyed it very much. But I didn’t get a video. Now that I sawed your video I regret it. Nice job mate!
thanks man, every time I don't record a project I always regret it!

Regards from my Channel,

Thank you my friend
Amazing job! Nice walkthrough through the whole process.
As a suggestion: put a side by side comparison at the end so we can see the difference!
Thank you. Cool idea, I kind forgot that!
Interesting that you chose to keep the pitting and imperfections despite polishing the hammer. I agree... it's the hammer's history.
Thank you. This game me SO MANY useful ideas!
Question: How long was the handle? I'm wanting to clean off an old sledge head and make it into a forge hammer.
Thank you. I think the handle was about 30cm
Your new audio cabinet sounds great! Nice restore to the club hammer :)
thank you
Very nice!! I like how you kept the marks on. What rust inhibitor did you use? Or did you use one at all?
I have to disagree with you Dimities, It is not 'Abuse'. But everyday 'Use', of such a tool. My Sledge is about 30 years old and has similar dents. Not that I can remember when they happened, but yes history of a well used tool. You made a draw knife about a year ago that you could have also used on the handle, and would have been a great tool to use seeing as you made it for such a project. Just yesterday I finished a similar project on a small axe I use for my carving. Great tip on using the hot glue for the re cutting on the bandsaw. I will use it in future instead of the tape I have used in the past. Great Project, thank you sir
Thank you my friend. I think I picked up the hot glue trick from a Jimmy Diresta video. It is really cool. The draw knife was pretty big for this handle. I prefer to use it on bigger stock.
Nice work. Now I know why dads axe had strike marks on back.
Lol
Good job,,, thanks for sharing. ..
Here is an idea for a high stress handle.
Start with an over sized blank of strieght grained wood. And split off the outside of the blank. That way the center grain of the wood will be in the center of the blank on both ends . That way if you miss a strike with the hammer head, the handle will be less likely to have a diagonal split.
This is just an idea. And in no way detracts from your skill and talent.
Thanks again. 😆😆
Thank you, really cool idea!
good tip with the hot glue.
thanks man
GooD))))).
thank you
Can you tell me what wax or oil you used to put on your steel and handle? Thanks
It's beeswax and mineral oil. Search my videos I have a tutorial on how to make it yourself!
My grandpa has the same hammer head
nice to hear that
Oh ! Beautiful hammer. Is it a 5 lbs hammer ?
thanks it is 1,5kg
i haven't watched your videos regularly this summer - when did you start narrating them?
A while ago
That turned out well mate, the torch is passed on! I like that cylindrical mallet - did you inherit that from your grandfather too?
Thanks Mark. The mallet is actually made from a very special olive tree. It was one of my first projects when I got my lathe!
Très joli travail bravo salut Jeannot 🛠😉
Thank you, greetings from Greece my friend
Scrap wood City you actually understand french ?
was your Granddad a mason? That looks like a Mason's brick hammer. great job on the restoration!
Actually he worked in machinery. But people those days in Greece, could do a bit of everything.
Great video and a job well done! I love beautiful, yet functional tools. If you don't mind, where is your accent from?
Thank you, I am Greek, sorry for my English!
No no, your English is just fine! Be proud!💪
Krásné, ale jak dlouho to bude takhle pěkné?
Thank you
Nice video.
You from?
Thank you, I am Greek

you forgot to place an iron wedge!
I didn't forget. Never had in mind in the first place!
i restored/rehandeld a axe lately i just made one from a little piece of iron filed in an edge
Jeremiah 23:29 “Is not My word like a fire?” says the LORD, “And like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?
Isn't this a Lump Hammer, not a Sledge Hammer?
Don't really know the difference, we have always called it sledgehammer

Its not a sledge hammer
Plz don't talk on the videos :c
nicolas rinaldi his voice is fine
I enjoy the narration. Besides it's much better than the irritating music some ppl use.
Sorry mate most people seem to prefer the videos as they are now! And believe it's much more work for me!
