I'm impressed - Daddy's seed fell not far from the oak. There are touches of the old man's vocal chords in there ... nobody sings them like Roger but Dean comes closest of all. Great job dude!
First time I've seen his his son! Definitely his fathers son! He has a great sense of humor and you can tell he enjoys singing too!! Thanks for posting!
I used to see Roger in the Palomino Club when he came in for Talent Night. He sat at a table in back and I often was invited to join them. Roger's son and a friend of his son performed often in the 1980s. I was Herman Schmerdley in those days. Great times.
This brought a smile to my face. You are absolutely right Dean, nothing but smiles any time I hear about Roger Miller. You do a great credit to your dad's voice too, I would say. You definitely have your own tone, but I can hear your dad in you without a doubt.
Man oh man, what a guy!! Roger Miller!! I remember Waaayy back when my dad used to sing it along with me sometimes we'd sing together .. sometimes my dad would just hum the song while riding in the car.. Either way, the song King of the Road was so different from all of the rest .. but Roger Miller, well he was a one in a million guy bc there will never be another one like him.. but his son, Dean Miller is really as close as anyone can get!! Great job Dean!!
I watched this with a bit of disdain thinking first of all how much my family and I loved Mr Roger Miller and just who is THIS guy. Well sir, I stand corrected!!! Great job Mr Dean Miller . I really miss your dad
My dad used to sing this to me as a child and it meant so much to me we had it at his funeral. You are a credit and an amazing tribute to your father x
This is wonderful and makes me very lonesome for my father. He would put music playing in the morning while we were all getting ready for school. When this song came on, he would sing along. My father couldn't carry a tune in a bucket so we all had a good chuckle. I would give anything to hear that voice right now. Thank you for sharing.
Good job dean, everyone loves listening to your dad.... Your dad left a legacy that will last for many and many years, forever say....... You hit it to a T....... Good job
If I close my eyes it's like hearing one of my musical heroes all over again. He sounds so much like his father it is scary! Absolutely love this rendition of the song. Would love to see Dean perform live.
I often find myself singing this song and as much of "Not in Nottingham" as I can remember. Before I burned bridges as a voice major and changed major and schools, I used to get a kick out of people's reactions when, as a bass-baritone, I would sing those songs. Now I serenade my young 'uns with these songs all of the time. Thanks to some family members that are long dead, Roger amd his music will ALWAYS AND FOREVER be a part of my life and influences.
In fact, at the insistence of my children when they heard this song, they wanted to sing it with Daddy for (as my son put it) "The People of the Internet." So... I put it on my channel for my kids and let them watch it.
I remember hearing King of the Road when I was growing up. I was 13 when it was released in 1965. We had one AM mono radio station and back then Country and Rock & Roll were both played on the same station.
Yep, sounds like my hometown. They mixed up Folk, Country, Rock, Big Band, Jazz, Classical, etc. Didn't need 15 stations to hear music, then. (or is it thousands, now, on cable?) OR you could get KOA Denver, which had no music at all, just talk.
MAN OH MAN WHAT A AWESOME TALENT YOU COULD HEAR HIS DAD IN HIS VOICE GOOD JOB DEAN MILLER I MISS YOUR DAD HEAR ON EARTH THANKS FOR SHARING THIS THANKS AGAIN❤
Hot "DANG ME" ..... he's good! 😀 A little rounder than dad facially and otherwise...but a spitting image of him in the face any how. And I love his voice.
We used to sing Roger Miller songs on Saturday nights we I was younger, my sister and mother and I, and my daddy played along on the guitar. What awesome memories.
I had the pleasure of meeting roger miller when he lived in Tesuque New Mexico and I was making a delivery from a hardware and appliance store in Santa Fe I was star struck and nervous but your parents were so humble and kind what a wonderful experience this just brought back a wonderful memory
I was a kid with a dad stationed in France when this song came out, and it was all over Armed Forces Radio, and even as a kid, I felt the lazy, swanky, poetic cheekyness of it. Always loved it, and 56 or so years later, still do.
My gosh... you sound so good, and nailed that song. Your Dad would sure be proud. My Dad passed in 2016, but I remember this song coming on when we were "whistling" our way to the dump, or to the trap and skeet club, or to the shooting range to do some shooting (he was a whistler, whistled to every song on the radio), but this song was one of his favorites. To this day it's still one of mine. Maybe one day we will cross paths, and I can whistle, and you can sing.... I know we'd surely draw a crowd. God bless... you'll always have friends in Boise, Idaho, Scott and Melanie
I wish today's country singers😟 would sing music like this once again this truly is real 🏇country music🏇 a lot of singers of today are getting mad😡 because we dare question they're Sound of Music🎶 we don't call what they do country real country has a steel guitar🎼 acoustic🎸 and a mean fiddle🎻 if you're going to rock country use photos instruments!!!!Dadgum IT!!!🎻🎸🎶🎤😟
I absolutely love this this song ... used to sing this to my horse back in the Sixties riding through the woods and hills of Columbia county, Pennsylvania.... used it to work on my range; changing keys ....
I'm impressed - Daddy's seed fell not far from the oak. There are touches of the old man's vocal chords in there ... nobody sings them like Roger but Dean comes closest of all. Great job dude!

It amazes me how all the children of legendary singers sound like their parents!
My daddy loved Roger Miller so I bought one of his records and loved it as much as daddy, we'd sing the songs together.
My favorite song to sing in a bar! Love hearing Dean do this cover of his Dad's work. Just AWESOME!

Sounds like the old mam. Roger was one of the best. RIP Buddy
My first time seeing Roger Miller's son:
Dean Miller: "It's B flat for those snapping at home."
Me: Well, I see that he has his dad's humor.
Don't B Sharp Don't B Flat Just B Natural
Gutslinger that’s exactly what I thought..his dads sense of humor!
Great memories as a kid with Roger Miller’s songs❤️
Cj Lively Same here. Although, I'm only 26. He's been gone almost as long as I've been alive.

Roger Miller was a great witty poet-artist. RIP Roger Miller.
Roger Miller was one of kind, the Lord broke the mold after him. This might be his son but he doesn’t have what God gave his dad.
