As relatively new to retail myself, I had been farming 12s for hero vault and wyrm crests forever, scared to go any higher. By the time I got to 476, my only options for upgrades were at least 16s for aspects, 18s for myth vault, or mythic raid (good luck getting in and clearing though). So scared or not, I had to do it. What I found out to my surprise was that even with totally incompetent (or just inexperienced) groups, they're all actually doable. If you take them seriously and try your best, no key level is impossible even for a beginner, at least until 20s where the rewards stop scaling, and it's more than enough for KHS. And having had similar experiences with raiding in the past, it's the same in raids too, be prepared, practice on normal, and you don't have anything to be afraid of, just give it a shot.
I usually do at least all +20s before I lose interest in pushing and the main reason why is the wait. I play more so late night so that is at least part of the reason, but even during the day I've ran into waiting long periods of time for the group to form. The higher the key you go for, the fewer amount of applicants there are, and it's really not enjoyable waiting for over half an hour for a tank or healer. I'll do it, but after doing that a couple times, that's when I just lose interest and start playing another game. Actually, being a healer was what got me interested in m+ in the first place because they were usually instant or a very short wait to actually hop in the dungeon and get it going. I will heal, but I just enjoy dps more.
I got 2.5k on my third week of M+ starting from no experience, 450 ilvl (early season PVP gear), only pugging as a Fury Warrior. I did things exactly like this guy, preparing well and then clearing each of the dungeons as a +2-5, then move to +6-10, and then I got a +13/14 clear on each of the dungeons in the first week. I earned enough Wyrms crests to craft my 2 best embelishments at 476 ilvl, and upgraded my gear along the way. The 2nd week I worked my way up gradually from +14 to +18s and got a clear on each of the dungeons at +18 with 2 +19s I was able to squeak in for extra rating. This put me at like 2430 rating after the 2nd week so I just had to clear 3 or 4 dungeons at +18 in the third week to get to 2500. My biggest advice is to hide your action bars to only show the absolute bare minimum information that you need. If you have a rotational ability that has no cooldown, there's no reason for it to be visible on your bars. The keybind isn't going to change in the middle of a fight. A UA-camr named Quazii makes really good WeakAuras for all of the classes that only tracks what is important, so I downloaded his one for Warrior and then hid all of my action bars so that's the only thing I see. Force yourself to look away from your action bars so you can focus on the mechanics of the fights themselves. Good luck to everyone starting M+ for the first time now or at the start of Season 4!
That’s great, it reminds me of the time when I was only 3 years old and had mastered deep sea marlin fishing, and caught the biggest marlin fish on record. Now, this is not something I like to brag about, as people feel very intimidated by my superior abilities.
You were more prepared than 85% of the people who do keys before you actually went into your first key. It's legit hilarious. If most people took 10 minutes per dungeon to just look over it, and spent an hour or two on the target dummies, and maybe an hour on their UI/keybinds, they'd do so much better, but here we are.
My biggest advice for people looking to push higher keys is just do it, people are going to complain no matter how prepared you are and the only way to learn is to do it. Definitely don’t jsut jump straight to high keys and expect results but slowly ramp your way up as you get more gear.
I feel you on this. New 70, since Legion. I've never gotten into WoW endgame and I've been getting so much information out of these videos. I cleared my first +5 last night as Aug. Evoker and actually held my own against some higher geared people.
yep 100% this is the case. Im mostly just playing 20s on diff chars and it deffo is real, there is even a huge chunk that doesnt know alot about the dungeons at all
When I am on my Survival Hunter or Ret Paladin, 16-18 feel relatively simple to farm & make fine time. But when I swap to holy paladin, it’s a whole new realm of learning for me & I am only comfortable in the 11-15 range. Slowly but surely getting that confidence for higher keys on healer! It’s often very dependent on my pugs using their interrupts effectively as well, to keep those damage spikes under control.
Healer is also hard for me. If my attention slips for a moment as a dps, I’ll just lose a bit of position on the meters usually. Typically they make the big things you have to react to fairly flashy. If I do that on a healer, though, someone might be dead by the time I get the cast off.
ksm is literally just about playing enough. Make your own groups and invite higher ilvl people than yourself and you can do it in like 3 weeks without knowing anything. This was me in season 3 lol.
I know I’m late to the vid, but I’ve gotta say that I’m SO impressed by how quickly you got the hang of things. I hope Blizz adds more practice scenarios and interactive optional tutorials to onboard newcomers to dungeons and raids. I’ve played WoW tons since 2016 (and a bit on and off from 2004 but never seriously until Legion), but I never enjoyed M+. I tried to raid-log and do world content as much as possible instead. Until Dragonflight Season 2, that is. When they finally fixed PVE gearing, I was able to climb the scaling difficulty ladder at my own pace and make incremental gear upgrades. The smoother curve let me ease into M+ levels I’d never tried before, and I ended up getting my first-ever Keystone Master, Keystone Hero, and full Mythic BiS (the majority of it, at least; some of those trinkets alluded me forever lol). I continued the trend in Season 3, and am excited to try for KSH and Mythic BiS in every future season that I can (barring work schedule 😓). Cheers!!
Would have been an interesting and nice story if the video didn't turn into an actual teleshopping-like program trying to sell everything on the skillcapped site.
The 3k IO part is relateable. The first time I got gladiator I lied about being gladiator, then after that season becoming glad became easy. I was even using an addon to link fake achievments, which is still possible. If you feel like youre being gatekept then its fairgame
I would highly recommended finding a guild. Any top guild world 200 even takes any social that plays some m+ and is an activ part of their community. This group finder stuff is not good for your mental health and playing with skilled and like minded people i way better and the way an mmo especially wow is designed for. I raided from 500 to hall of fame level and every social in these guilds did a weekly 20 first week of the season. If your a nice guy do not troll keys to hard anyone will game with you.

Nice I did not play s2 so I starten few weeks back fresh server fresh char and did get ksm in 2 weeks stil pushing rating to get keystone hero in my 3de week of being 70 now
Sorry late comment but do not be afraid! You seriously just have to jump in what’s the worse that can happen?? So many people are like this just join a low lvl pug mythic + or raid and you will fall in love trust me do it most people are great to play with to
Can someone explain to me what this video is exactly? I dont understand it. Channel named "Skill Capped WoW Mythic+ Guides" makes a video stating they have no experience in M+? Huh? So is this his video or not or is this an Advertisement or ... ? I dont get the concept, pls explain
Bm hunter is the easiest class Also it's not zero to hero if you already got the core experience from classic I legit did that in s3 I started wow for the first time and it took me 3 weeks to get into pushing keys and hc raiding and by now I play multiple dds and Healers on a high lvl like mage all specs (main), resto shammy which rn is very fun to play, mm hunter and s/holy priest And i didn't prepare at all I just went for it so for anyone starting out here is MY honest advice .. Pick 1 or 2 classes you like level them and go lfr once you can Learn your rotation on dps dummies to see what class you like finally better and that's the class you'll be starting with run keys don't look for being boosted start small and run higher as you feel comfortable. Gear doesn't matter until your pushing score if you are good you can easily play mythic vaults (m+8 now) with low gear Then you start mastering your class and push m+ as you wish or pick other classes as alts and gear & learn them if you do not have ths urge to push very high keys and dont be afraid just go for it and do the raids aswel you can easily pug norm & hc raids
KSM is so easy i started in df season 3 late and got KSM its not hard just play the game I never played classic I never played mmos its easy just get good
Seems like too much work and stress to try to climb to some higher keys, not to mention the gate keeping you mentioned and of course toxic players. I understand frustration, but if you plan for things to go perfect in above average lvl key runs with pugs, you need a mental health check up.
Sorry if I have to say it like that, but if no one takes me with them in 20+ then I won't start lying, even if they are people I don't know! That just shows me that the type of player who wants to find himself here starts with lies. Only online afterwards does it perhaps spread to real life. Even if this is just speculation, don't you feel shabby about it? And not getting any further at 20+ because the class doesn't provide what you're looking for would actually be a reason to ask for your money back because you're not getting any better, even if it's not in your or the player's/customer's hands.
