In a world where mental health is still heavily stigmatised, especially so in certain cultures, Suga/Agust D of BTS comes in screaming with a brutally honest and open 808 honker in 'The Last' with lines and hooks as brutal as its sub bass. Watch along with me to see a non/new K-pop fan break down what might be the most refreshingly direct song about depression and mental health struggles ever made!

I think Suga has had issues in the past with being called an ‘idol’. Both him and RM were criticized by other “underground rappers” for ‘selling out’. They were told they couldn’t resist the temptation of big corporations and money, and are now wearing make-up and what not.
The “It’s not that you guys didn’t betray us, but you couldn’t, shit” lyric most likely refers to those rappers…
-Something like: it’s not like you wouldn’t have betrayed “underground rapping” if you had been given the opportunity, but you didn’t' (‘cause you weren’t good enough)?
      😂😂
This is an older song and like he said… He accepted the word Idol and proudly calls himself that… They actually have a song called Idol which you could check out. (make sure to watch the explained video from DKDKtv since there are a lot of Korean culture references)

In reference to the part about his shoulder, I believe when he was a trainee, Suga got hit by a car and injured his shoulder permanently. He didn't tell anyone about it because he was afraid he wouldnt be allowed to keep practicing with the band so he continued to dance/train while he had a broken shoulder.

When you said people can feel happy just by having a normal life, actually Suga talked about that. He once said that when he was younger he thought it wasn't possible to be happy without having a dream and didn't understand people with this mindset. But now, he realized that not everyone thinks the same way and that it's okay to not have a dream if that makes you happy, if you're satisfied with it.

the "who do you think you're acting like you had hardships in front of?" is essentially saying that yoongi has been through a lot of hard shit in his life and a lot of these rappers nowadays will rap about "struggling" although they haven't realistically been through much / fake it for relativity. its yoongis jab at basically like "who do you think you are, pretending like youve struggled in front of me, someone who has Actually struggled?"

16:19 A better translation of this line would be "My one and only life
I can easily live it passionately than any other"
Suga have said many times that people should live the way they want, he portrayed his life before having a dream in his song *So far away* and after that he understood that is not like people need to do big things, what matters is if they have moments of happiness, as an example, in his 2018 New year speech he said "it's alright even if you don't have a dream. It's possible not to have one. Just be happy"
    Video: ua-cam.com/video/2HqTa7f-Uo4/v-deo.html
This same idea is the inspiration for the BTS song *Paradise* you should check that out!

This was the song that not only helped me find BTS but also saved my life. Sitting on the bathroom floor of my university after another panic attack with absolutely no desire to live anymore. I'd found it in a random music playlist and not only was the beat filthy but Yoongi's (aka Suga aka AgustD) voice cut me to my core. So i looked up the lyrics and just started crying, finally feeling like someone else knew what it felt like on this bathroom floor, and not only that he was with me, telling me to get the fuck up and keep going cuz the future was gonna be ok.
This song is incredible. Other Yoongi songsI suggest you react to one day:

    -First Love
-His entire new mixtape lmao its incredible. It's called D-2.

Suga's relationship with his parents probably is really good now.
I mean, we don't know much, but we know that although they didn't support his career at the start at all (His mum literally threw his lyrics in the trash) at some point they understood and became the biggest supporters to him (i may be wrong, but i think they turned around like half a year after his debut with BTS) and he's really grateful (there's an old clip of him in tears bowing at a concert after seeing his family in the crowd).
I may be wrong about some things though, i'm new in the fandom. I've only been an Army for 6 months max.

I reconcile the two halves as -- the first half he's exposing his troubled past, his struggles with mental health and he ends it on a note of "if me being in pain, in struggle, is art, then I'll do it, I'll leave the garden and take a bite of the apple that I refused"... It clearly delineates contrasts, two halves of him.... In the second half, he makes all of it him, he takes ownership of the two halves in a way that they can't be separated and he's triumphant in this moment, at the result.
Whatever struggles he had, this moment, he finds himself on stage commanding thousands with just a single hand gesture. He may have his weak sides and the success monster-greed, but he is his actions and those both led to the same result.
In his triumph, he makes it clear. "my address is idol" You've heard how Suga and especially RM caught a lot of flak for "selling out"... But he's proud of this life he's achieved and chosen for himself, the life of a performer, sure, but also the life of striking a balance between striving for perfection and being sincere to the fans.
The second half also does the important job of making it clear that the first half was in the past. Not that he can't have relapses in mental health again , but that his present sled is proof that things can get better. "My friends, fam, my fans, don't you worry about me, because I'm good"
And for someone who ended the first half on "I shall struggle for my art if that's needed", saying "I'm good" and performing better more triumphantly for it, is kind of glorious.

I ask myself each time, how do bts manage to reach into my brain and pull out my thoughts? Kings of being relatable. Also I’m like 5 minutes into the video but my adhd won’t let me watch peacefully until I’ve typed this comment so: Yoongi once said "I have adhd". He was smiling while he said it, amused and frustrated that he couldn’t sit still to meditate while all the others could. So half the fandom said it’s just a joke, but Yoongi being who he is, I highly doubt he would treat it as a joke, especially since he wants to get a degree in psychology in the future to be able to help people. I feel like he knows a lot about mental health, both his own and in general. I wouldn’t be surprised for him to be open about having adhd now, knowing that he opened up about depression, OCD, and social phobia in this 2016 mixtape (on that note, the song ‘140503 at dawn’ gives a really honest and acerbic description of his social phobia if you are interested in that kind of content. I know I could relate). Just some food for thought. Alright I’ll go back to watching the video now!

3:44 "the real me is the person... the state of being I managed to achieve... where I feel happy and calm with myself"
This words, the idea of achieving the "real me" (the me I desire to be) and the breakdown between the ideal self and the current reality, are portrayed in RM's song *Uhgood*
In this song RM chronicles the pain and torment that can come from knowing that your thoughts are destructive and even knowing how you should change them, but still being trapped inside them. the duality between the two different versions is what causes him to feel *out of place* with himself and leads him to strive toward finding his real self.

"I exchanged my youth for the monster called success and he wants more wealth" is also basically the main underlying theme of their Wings album which cane a few months after this... With BTS, you often see their ideas and worldviews syncing up across media and platforms in a way that makes it obvious -- this is them right now, this is their most honest, sincere thoughts. Starting form Dope in 2015,they later explore this concept in great detail. But The Last will always be the most raw expression of is in my opinion. Suga/Agust D is a very straightforward lyricist. His lyrics, at their best, punch you in the brain and leave an imprint.

Early on, I can't remember if it was during training or pre-debut BTS, Yoongi worked as a delivery boy while working at BigHit because he was in college and helped pay for his tuition. During that time he was hit by a car making deliveries on his scooter, and pretty severely injured his shoulder, he hid the injury from the company and the member for fear of getting kicked out. When it finally came to light, he had a meeting with the CEO (Bang PD). Their CEO basically told him that had they known that he was doing all of this to pay his tuition they would have helped him, and I think after that the company did start helping them with their tuition costs if they needed it. Anyway, I digress, basically there are some more recent videos even where you can see him holding his shoulder, or not fully raising his arm, etc.
Also, when he says to not live passively, I believe he means... by your own standards. As he's stated before, it's ok to not have a dream as long as you strive to live happily.

Suga is very raw and honest in his lyrics and music. If you compare his first mixtape and his second, you can see how his perspective, priorities, and world views have changed. These songs aren’t necessarily representative of Suga’s beliefs now, but they we’re definitely an honest story of his past and his thoughts at that point in time. I love how BTS music really show their growth and maturity as an artist and as human beings.

Yoongi or AgustD found me with The Last... the first times I listened to it, I didn't even know the lyrics and he managed to draw me in and captivate me just like that.
Rap is not even remotely one of my prefered genres, because... there're so few pieces I can relate to. But I listen to every single thing he'd put out so far... he's just that good.
Comparing the 1st and 2nd mixtape is nearly impossible... he has grown so much, obviously more confident about his singing voice. D-2 is still kind of raw, but in a more sophisticated way... if that makes any sense.

His first mixtape was released 4 years ago and Yoongi said many times that his mindset changed a lot from that time. He explained that he doesn't really relate to some of the lyrics that he wrote when he was younger. He even said that he had problem with releasing his second mixtape, D-2 (part of which was the song 'Daechwita'), because he worked on it for a long period of time and he didn't really have these feelings he had while writing some songs anymore. That's why this song might have some lines that he wouldn't really say today. However, it is how he felt at that time and I think it's good that he released his emotions on this track. I've been an Army only since the end of 2018, so I didn't really feel the shock that this mixtape must've caused (considering that topic of mental health was and still is a taboo in South Korea). It seems to me like he had a lot of pent up anger at that time. I highly recommend listening to his new mixtape (and reading the lyrics) so you can understand a little about how he's changed. It's hands down my favourite mixtape, I listen to it literally every day.
I am not really that well informed about his beggining, but I believe that by saying 'Y'all' at the and of the song he was talking to other rappers, who criticised him for joining an idol group. And Show me the money is some kind of a competition/show for rappers to get recognised, but Suga said that he didn't want to do it. Sorry, it's a little hectic but I can't explain it better in english hahah, I believe someone smarter than me will explain it better.
As for the last comment, this song was the reason I wanted to know more about BTS. It still holds a special place in my heart, I related to this rage so hard when I heard it for the first time. A lot has changed but this song will forever be really important to me.
I'm always here for your reactions, love hearing your thoughts. You nice, keep going!

Happiness isn't a goal to reach...You can be happy in moments along the journey...Happiness doesn't have to be postponed until you achieve everything. And if you were happy all the time ...or even most of the time ...Happy moments wouldn't be as Happy 😊💜 I think your comments are very heartfelt and insightful

When you dive deeper into the songs of BTS you will understand the meaning of "i don't even know my own self". When you not know yourself, how are friends than supposed to know you? You can't show your own self to someone, when you don't know who it is... As a example, People with PTSD could only survive, when their personality split up in a traumatic moment. And i don't mean a dissociative identity disorder. It is just a
protection mechanism for yourself and leads the survivers to the mostly lifelong question "who am i?". In my case, i developed a Ego-State-Disorder, that means even more emotional identities and one everyday personality, that is not the "me" i am seaching for. I would happily collect friends, when they could tell me who i am (LOL that leads to RM's "Persona, who the hell am i"). Ok, now i have lost, what i wanted to say, but... yeah, greetings from Germany 😉

The reason why I'm still alive(physically/spiritually) is I found this song at my lowest and realized I am not alone. That's why I LOVE BTS, not only as an IDOL but also the HUMANS that encouraged me to REALIZE, FACE AND LOVING MYSELF. They're not Gods, they never will but them as HUMANS is a perfect gift for me. I thank GOD everyday for bringing them in this world.

Actually yoongi said just the other day that he for some time didn't like the last that much anymore but now says the song has it's own beauty. He said he sounds desperate to himself. It's propably vuz he can't really feel with his own past self or doesn't relate that much anymore. He is very happy and much better off emotionally during the last years. He is very happy.

mental health in korea is a VERY sensitive and taboo topic. yoongi hinting at suicide and self-harm in a song was probably shocking. i respect him a lot for putting his story and hardships out to the world, being honest and sharing his true feelings and thoughts without sugar-coating it. i’m so glad you reacted to this! you should check out Paradise (the lyrics were inspired by one of Yoongi’s speech in which he said “you don’t need a dream, just be happy”), Sea is also great, they talk about their journey as idols/artists, it’s a beautiful song. and if you want to check some vocal-line songs, 00:00 (Zero O’clock) has a beautiful message :)

Yoongi actually spoke about this recently. About how he still hates crowds, but strangely enough, when on stage he doesn't feel that way.
I think the last is this conversation between the same person at two different times in their life. The min yoongi who didn't feel comfortable with the title idol, the yoongi who suffered and struggled and let the words of others get to him; talking to the min yoongi who says "idol" is his destiny, yoongi who's not "better" but rather in a better place. (emotionally, financially)
The whole thing with "them" wanting him to leave the garden and the "us" he constantly refers to - i think he's talking to his khip-hop/rap peers.
being an idol, there is a lot of stigma around it. idols aren't considered to be true artists, they're looked down upon by "proper artists".
pre-dubut bts was suga, jhope and rm. suga and rm had already been known in the rap scene and when jhope joined in the 2010-2012 period, they were more a rap/hip hop group than anything else
when it was revealed that they would be an idol group, they (rm and suga especially) recieved a lot of backlash because of it.
their peers told them that they were selling out. i remember an interview yoongi replied saying well be didn't want to starve anymore and be poor, he wanted to do more and be more, be successful (he thought it would make him happy) - but certainly not continue to live the way he was. and his idol peer just responded well so what. that they all go through that, not only yoongi. and if all of them can stick it out, well yoongi and namjoon just couldn't handle the "struggle".
~i would recommend listening to RM's "DO YOU". its from his first mixtape, and it deals with this identity crisis that they faced when were still in their teens~
so at the latter half, when yoongi is talking about "idol" being his destiny, to me its him making peace with who he was then. idol and rapper.
we (the fans) only know so little about what they actually faced early on, so I'm sure it was much more than this tbh.
show me the money is a south korean rap competition. for "real" rappers. so when bts never showed on the series people thought well of course they weren't invited... they're only idol rappers now 🙄
The shoulder accident was when he was still a trainee. he busted his shoulder while in an accident. but he didn't tell anyone at the company because he was afraid he'd be kicked out. he used to be a b-boy before, but because of the injury and how he treated it he can no longer do certain moves.
AX Hall, its a concert venue. its where they had their very first concert with only 2000-3000 people in attendance.
~Sorry for the long response. I really enjoy your reactions~ I definitely do recommend RM's DO YOU next.

aaaahhhhhh im so happy you reacted to this!!! for the show me the money lines, suga and rm were invited to be on the show (it's a competition show for rappers to prove their rap skills and a lot of idols get invited on there along with non-idol rappers) but they declined not because they couldn't appear on the show, but because they didn't want to. they felt they didn't need to prove their skills, but also show me the money is kind of a joke reality show with "evil" editing to make certain contestants look bad for drama and a lot of the rappers that appear on the show are quite.....cringe worthy to say the least. a lot of them grew up in south korea but like to act like they grew up in the hood and imitate american rappers' mannerisms and aesthetics without knowing the real history of hiphop.
also, at the end, there's supposed to be a comma before the word "shit" lmao so it should be "but you couldn't, shit"

what i love about this song is how victorious he makes it in the end. it's brutally honest and then it gets to where he talks about exchanging his youth for success and being greedy, and about his friends telling him to stop (i think referring to his friends who accuse him that idol rapping was selling out) and he basically tells them before the beat switch that it's his own decision, he got himself into it and he isn't ready to get out of it yet...then he is like letting his 'greedy' side out by flexing about his success and victories even in the face of all the pain it took him to get there and the anger in his voice just gets to me, because that success was so hard won, like he said, he exchanged his youth for it. this song is so so personal and raw it's almost like a diary entry or su*cide note until it switches almost to his Suga persona at the end, where he emphasizes that he is an Idol and chose that life and fought for all of the success and through everything that being an idol means so how dare people say he sold out when he had to sacrifice and fight for all of it. but it's triumphant because it's his own choice and he is winning even if he still struggles with his identity or his depression through it all.

This song. The stories he tells through it - he unveiled some of them to us afterwards. What is important to know is that he was writing this song through the years. So that is where the pause and sudden change of attitude comes out from (I believe). Yoongi was an underground rapper and producer. He lived with like 14 other people in a studio (don't quote me on this), some of them steal his songs and never played him. And for underground rap scene in Korea signing with entertainment agency is selling out. Becoming an idol is betrayal of hip hop. So when Yoongi decided to become a songwriter and was signed by BigHit to train - he received harsh criticism from underground, his origins. He was basically cast out of the circle. And publically criticized (alongside RM). He was struggling with money, his parents didn't really support his career choice. So he was working multiple part time jobs to afford college when he moved to Seoul from Daegu. As he mentions in this song - he was the delivery man (fan fact: Korea is famous for their delivery services - they will deliver you whatever you want, wherever you want - middle of the park, rooftop etc.) and during this job he had an accident, was hit by the car and injured his shoulder. However, he was signed to BigHit already and he was doing some b-boying and they encouraged him to dance as well. So he was afraid if he tells them about his injury they will just end the contract with him. And he suffered with a broken shoulder. But somehow agency found out and told him that he should have told them sooner so he would receive proper care. And that if he told them about his money struggle for school, they would pay for it so he wouldn't have to take all the part time jobs. So that's this. (Source: mainly "Burn The Stage" docu-series)
There is certain image to k-pop idols that is seen by money as prideless or shameful. So he struggled with that label. Bc idols aren't considered true artist but puppets(that's very hurtful stereotype bc a lot of idols are very creatively involved and work hard to become more than just industry's creation). And in Agust D's and BTS songs you can see that him and Rm both had trouble defining if they were idols or artists. There is this little song by BTS called "Idol" that I recommend if you are interested in this topic. Yoongi talks about it in Agust D "Agust D" as well. So I believe the acceptance part is like catharsis: "I accept who I am, i know myself finally and I am not ashamed of who my choices made me into. You lot criticising me - what's your struggle? Me being popular, it seems. I have worked for everything I have. Nothing was handed to me for free. And I am thankful for that " (paraphrasing)
Lyrics from doolsetbangtan for clearer understanding or further confusion - the choice is yours: doolsetbangtan.wordpress.com/2018/06/01/the-last/
The interview SUGA and RM did after BTS debut during which other hip hop artist disrespected them: m.ua-cam.com/video/A60nxqU_uIE/v-deo.html
Also the title "The LAST" (I'm stealing this information from Google search" doesn't meant "last" but is actually abreviation of Life Story =LA ST. I find it quite interesting since I was always wandering why this title.
I think that's enough information for next century. Everyone more knowledgable than me - feel free to correct me in the comments.

The AX that Suga mention on his lyrics it was an AX Hall, where BTS started their first concert on 2014 (the attendance was 1000 people). They got a lot of mockery from haters at that time because they only can afford a small place for their concert even they are won a lot of rookie award at award shows n called them a dirty spoon will always be a dirty spoon (coz their company almost bankrupt at that time, so they only can afford a small place to held BTS first concert). When "the last" is released, BTS has held their concert on Olympic gymnasium arena which is has attended by 15k people and tokyo dome (96k attendance).

Hey!! 😊 I'm really enjoying your reactions. It's nice to have a person actually talking about the song, the lyrics and giving their opinions and perspectives and I can totally relate to you and to him, too. The things he put in these lyrics are his personal experiences, his real feelings and thoughts and you can feel it.
You will see more contradictions from them and their songs because they started making music when their oldest member was 21 and now he is 28. As you can imagine their perspectives on life have matured. There will be songs about never stop chasing your dreams, about making a change in the world and make a name for yourself... and then you have songs that tell you to simply be happy being who you are, that dreams don't have to be big things, it could something as simple as getting that new laptop you like or maybe get that job you want. Or maybe you just don't have a dream and that's okay too :)
Also having all of them participating in their music it's obvious that seven people can't think or feel the same about everything. However they usually end in a hopeful note, they tend to be positive in their message.
I highly recommend the song Tomorrow. I think you will like the lyrics and it's an ot7 song. Also for a vocal line song I recommend Lost. And I will never shut up about it but if you ever feel confused about lyrics check doolset blog: doolsetbangtan.wordpress.com/

Really enjoyed your reaction, this song is so deep and we know Suga wrote it to share his expérience and help people who are struggling with such problems too. It hits even more when you know that Korea has one of the highest suicide rate among young people, and that mental health issues are still taboo in Korean society. He's brave talking about this so honestly. A quick thought on what you said about being judgemental on people who " do nothing with their lives" .I'm pretty sure he's not. But he won't stand those people daring criticizing him. " If you done as much as me throw your stone" , is a lyric of one of BTS's song and it's the same Idea here. Also about the " Show me the money" part: well other underground rappers, former "friends" of him, insulted him an RM on " selling out" to the Idol industry ( idols are not considered Real artists in Korea). So here he's implying that those ex friends didn't sell out only cause they weren't good enough to participate in talent shows like " Show me the money" . Actually Suga had quite a bad opinion on idols too before joining Big Hit. Took him a while to be comfortable with the idea of being an "Idol" .If you keep this in mind you'll spot this identity crisis between rapper and Idol in many of his and RM's lyrics. Even the Daechwita MV is kind of Agust D killing the greedy "king" "Idol" monster that he doesn't want to become, in a way. Sorry for the long post. Ho, and you're hilarious btw ,😉💜

I used to have depresseion for a few years (almost a decade) , before even starting to listen to BTS I kinda find my way out of it(took me a few years) . Reason why I respect this song so much is that is truly shows that a person who battled with mental health issues can reach a point of happiness. Suga even now is not denieying he has some issues, but mostly he found his way in life and some form of balance. I think that is an extremely important message coz usually ppl feel - alone, misunderstood, scared to talk to people, hopeless and tired with their mental health issues...This song shows you that you truly cant survive and defeat your demons. This song actually got me more into the rap and hip hop style of BTS, coz until this song I was more of a vocal line kinda gal...
AS for the vocal line, most of them are younger than the rap line and just recently started dabbling into making their solo songs, so you will get fewer optins , but Kim Taehyung = V is planning to drop a mixtape this year so be ready! However, probably a good starter for a vocal line song is : The Truth Untold, based on whose voice you will prefer we can then recommedn other songs

i was shocked when i first heard this song in 2016 because he hadn't opened up to this extent before- i had never heard ANY korean musicians talk about mental health this openly and honestly, its even more stigmatized there than it is in the US or UK, and their suicide rates are the 4th highest in the world (used to be 1st). it makes the fact that hes talking about this stuff even more impactful. mental health NEEDS to be talked about everywhere but especially in Korea.

I can’t stop commenting because you say a hundred smart things a minute xD Yoongi doesn’t come across as judging people who live ´cheap’ lives for me, since he perpetually oscillates between two states of mind in his songs: "follow your dreams" and "it’s ok not to have a dream". One thing he said in a video (2018 new year wishes) will always stay with me because it was the first time in my life I heard it: "It’s ok not to have a dream, just living happily is enough". That really moved me. So he knows that he can’t tell everyone to follow their dreams just because he was able to do it. As he said in recent interviews about his mixtape, he is just asking questions through his music, and not in a position of giving a definite answer.

He talks about his change in attitude in his later songs. I think at the time he wrote this song, he was really going through it and couldn't understand the way other people lived. But in later songs, he explains how he understands that some people don't need a drive or a passion to be happy and that's okay.

  • @marar8045

Suga came to Soul already a rapper, he had underground rapper roots so he had rapper friends. He and RM received a lot of backlash when they debuted as BTS because they left the underground scene to become idols. They were called sellouts for “taking the easy road to fame”. This made them both depressed.
The staring into a mirror is from when he got sick before a concert in Japan and they had to cancel. He blamed himself heavily for that and felt he couldn’t face the audience anymore. Even though he was so sick he was hospitalized for a while.
Show me the money is a Korean rap show where aspiring rappers and sometimes idol rappers go to show off their skills in a series of competitions. Apparently he was offered to participate and he turned it down and the rappers around him mocked him for it. I don’t think he’s ever addressed this, but it’s pretty obvious from the lyrics. He says it’s not that he couldn’t do it, but that he wouldn’t.
For the longest time both Suga and RM hated the fact that they were idols. Being called an idol rapper is almost an insult to a rapper. Usually an idol rapper is someone who can’t sing but is needed for the group either for their dancing skills or their looks and are made to rap a few lines because it’s “easier”. They don’t write their own stuff, they’re not rappers. It took years and a lot of reflection and self discovery for them to realize that being an idol isn’t a bad thing. It’s given them the platform they have today and the success they have today. They didn’t sell out, they had to work hard to be there. Probably even more than regular rappers because they had to dance a lot.
So when he says my address is Idol, he’s saying, yes, I’m an idol, so what? It’s what I am, it’s who I am.
They hated the name of their group, they hated being idols, they felt their fans felt ashamed to say they were BTS fans because being an ARMY can bring a lot of backlash. Not so much now, even though we still have tons of haters, but this song was released in 2017 (I think). Literally in their speech for best artist 2020 they said they’ve become artists that army can be proud of that they finally can say they’re BTS without shame. So this has been a long battle for them mentally. Loving something yet hating it at the same time.

Your talk at 16.40 about people "in front of their TV" being the happiest sometimes, instead of the ambitious people - that is something I'm slowly coming to terms with in this year of 2020 that is forcing us all to become philosophers (or some of us to become even more philosophical, getting absolutely NOTHING done but staring into our own mikrokosmos until we have to lie down with dizziness).
And the song I cling to is also written by Suga: Paradise.
It addresses exactly this, which you also saw him talking about in the "Who is(!!!) BTS" introduction video - that you don't need a dream to be happy. He contradicts himself over and over in his lyrics, but that's because he's honest with us about being human in a world where your wisdom might say one thing, but you also feel a pull to ignore that wisdom. So as BTS listeners, we get both the wisdom as a compass, and the companionship of humble, honest artists who assure us that we're not alone in being unable to follow that compass at times (or even most of the time).

Now, since you are interested in hearing more of the vocal line, I would suggest either "House of Cards" or "The Truth Untold". They are absolutely gorgeous songs with beautiful lyrics (both have live performances too).

Great reaction as always! I really enjoy your commentary. Based on what you said about it being okay to be happy and content and not needing to achieve big things, I think you'd like the BTS song Paradise.
Also here are some vocal line songs:
The Truth Untold, House of Cards
    Jin: Awake, Epiphany
    Jimin: Lie, Serendipity, Filter
    V: Stigma, Singularity, Sweet Night
Jungkook: Begin, Euphoria, Still With You
    Thanks again for your reactions!

About 'my address is idol''. Just a thought that crossed my mind, I"m not sure if that's what he means at all, but I was thinking that it might also mean 'address' as in 'being addressed'. You can address me as an idol, because that's who I am. My title is 'idol'. Just a thought

loved your reaction yeah i love how real he gets on his mixtapes. please react to STRANGE agust d ft RM lyrics by the channel zaty farhani.
for the line "who do you think your having hardships in front of"
is cause not all but a large number of artists in korea pretend to be something theyre not even pretending to have hardships. of course everyone has hardships and everyone needs to keep their mental health in good shape but there is a difference between someone who grew up dirt poor with nothing and someone who was handed everything for free from a young age due to family wealth. the people who grew up rich of course have hardships bts acknowledges that with ugh when they defend celebrities and themselves. but Suga ran away from a poor household to pursue music coming to the rich city of Seoul and working part time jobs while doing music and going to high school just to see the rich kids show up in sports cars. idk if im explaining it right like its very honest shows a slight hypocrisy but it makes sense especially since he was writing this song from when bts was still small and unknown.
the pause in the middle of the song reflects the first part was written years before the second when he finally started gaining success.
many idols from the big 3 companies were handed everything while bts had to work a lot harder and still didnt get treated with respect to some extent they still dont now its fake respect because people wanna get near them for clout.
i believe ax is possibly a venue or maybe a area but im not sure.
yeah show me the money is a hip hop program where the supposed best rappers go to prove themselves in my opinion most people who rap on their are trash at rapping they treat it as a concept not part of a culture. bts actually respect hip hop and its roots and actually learned about it to be able to honor it through their own music. which is why so many people love bts they dont take the stereotypical approach of flexing only but are very lyrical which is how many old school rappers were. rapping about their lives even while throwing some flexing but that wasnt the overall point of the songs usually.
the people who betrayed them are the underground hip hop artists in Korea who turned their backs on RM and Suga for joining the kpop scene. even though bts never lost themselves and are one of if not the most real groups in kpop when it comes to music lyrics authenticity etc. not many kpop groups are that open. atleast not many new ones. the very first one was very open they were called seo taji and boys and they passed the legacy down to bts skipping all the other groups in between and told bts its their generation now.
i was trying to answer your questions but ended up ranting too sorry 😅

He's scared of losing his youth because he fears losing his energy to live.
Like you said success isn't gratifying on a spiritual level, it's just a monster that eats away at youth until you wake up one day and realise it didn't really matter in the first place.
Yoongi's lyrics have gradually changed over time. His attitude towards fame and success has been unique (or rare because it's a sentiment that has been expressed before).
He never explains them, so we make inferences and this one is mine.

Thank you for your honest opinion on this video and for watching it. Thank you for watching this video and talking about mental health as well thank you for talking about your own mental health. Like you were saying mental health definitely needs to be talked about openly and shared. Suga is very honest here and I wish there were more artists that talked about sensitive topics like mental health, but that is what the members of BTS do, they talk about sensitive topics and topics artists do not usually talk about. I am glad you enjoyed this video, I enjoyed watching it thank you!
As you mentioned the vocal line, I do not know if you would like to as this song has some relevance to the BTS Universe story, but V from BTS wrote the lyrics to a song he sings called Stigma, and it is also very deep, meaningful, and full of pain. There is some relation to the Universe storyline so if you do not want to watch it right now, no worries, but I would definitely recommend it at some point. This is also meaning behind this song for V, he explained that the song is about someone who got hurt due to his fault and he suffers from guilt because of it, it is an emotional song that I would definitely recommend. This is the lyric video I would suggest: ua-cam.com/video/LmmV2b23DV0/v-deo.html Thank you again and have a great day!

Yoongi (Suga) and Namjoon (RM) are without a doubt the best lyricists I've ever had the pleasure to... eh... listen to and read the lyrics, even if they were translated from Korean. Sometimes you need to find those lyrics not only translated but also explained to really appreciate them
but even without it, it's poetry, really. From both of them. I really adore them for that. Plus both's rapping styles and the ability to relay those lyrics and feelings in their rap is phenomenal
if you take BTS' lyrics, you (almost) always get something on a deeper level, very creative, artistic. Now I don't mean to offend anyone, but I can't find anything on that level today in mainstream music, especially not rap.

I don’t remember who said it, but apparently the first part of the song, to the Korean ear, reads like a suicide note. So yeah, very dark, but the latter half shows the development and evolution that he’s gone through. Oh and yes, Yoongi and his family have a good relationship now. One of the most memorable moments in regards to his family was during their Wing tour. At one of the performances in Korea, Yoongi’s parents were in the audience and when he spotted them, he dropped into a full on bow (on you knees, face and arms on the floor), and started crying. You could tell that in that moment, he realized that his dream payed off and that his parents were proud of him.

Agust D's (Suga's) Dear My Friend on his second mixtape is about the frustration of trying to help a friend who isn't accepting the help.

I can't imagine the personal songs getting performed, certainly haven't heard of The Last being performed. My reading of the two parts is the first part is the doubtful side of him, reminiscing on thoughts where he'd just give up to make everyone happy, put everyone else first.... but wait that's not who he is and the second part is him going "wtf, why should I be the one to lay down for everyone else's happiness I worked for this I deserve it" etc. You'll find Suga's later music often referencing songs like this one though, and now you'll understand Daechwita - the first Agust D is the mad king that put himself above others and stood on people, but now the new Agust D has killed the old Agust D which is why the rest of the D-2 mixtape is actually very different to the first. Listening to both mixtapes fully would be a wonderful experience for you I think. I'd highly recommend also checking out RM and J-Hope's mix tapes too, as their introspection are all very different but honest just like Suga with Agust D. Truly the rapline mix tapes are as good if not better than their BTS discography while being free to the public and show how good they all are as lyricists, producers and seeing their points of view is a thing of beauty.

And also, it all gives great insight in to their three solos in MotS:7 - with RM's Intro: Persona, Suga's Interlude: Shadow and J-Hope's Outro: Ego - also a must experience trio of singles that are the result of what they each found at the end of their journey's heard from the mix tapes.

I really, really appreciate this song and songs by Yoongi in general. it may not seem like it considering BTS talk about it a lot but in South Korea mental health is very stigmatised. They have the 10th highest suicide rate in the world and yet it isn't taken very seriously and rarely talked about, especially by idol groups. I'm so happy that one of the biggest (at the time of The Lasts release) and now the biggest kpop group openly talks about mental health, seeking therapy, depression etc.
