Ooh, try Minute Suites in JFK-they're little rooms you can rent by the hour in the airport-no mask!! Also someone had a private butler in a hot air balloon ride in Morocco. It was Ciel d'Afrique.

My last international trip was 36 hours traveling time and my ankles had no swelling when I finally reached my bed 48 hours after leaving home.
Storing travel accessories: I use a clear plastic box labeled "Travel" and keep it on the shelf in my closet. I include the instructions for some gadgets in case I forget how to use them. My box is the size of a shoe box. A suitcase safety belt is kept in my suitcase. I also keep a clean plastic bag in my suitcase for soiled items. Thank you for so many good tips.
Hi Laurie, Just want to say thank you for all the amazing travel content. I am heading to Europe and have been studying and taking notes. It's very helpful and appreciated! Thank you very much!
Hi Laurie, I am Going to England in late September. I have one of those “belts” and I never thought about using it for travel. Great idea. And the Tylenol is essential. I get a headache every time I go to Europe. I take no liquids with me now. I stay with a friend and so everything is there for me. And I bought one of those foot rests. Glad to hear you like that. And there are compression socks that don’t cover your toes and zip up. Easy on, easy off and can be worn with sandals. I love your videos. I learn a lot from you. Thanks.
Thanks for all your videos Laurie! I have been watching a bunch of them lately, and we are flying tonight for the first time since Christmas season 2019. I feel more equipped than ever and I was a pretty experienced traveler already. Keep up the excellent content!
I am going to Uzbekistan in a few weeks and your videos are very helpful. Havel not traveled internationally since 1998 and things have changed significantly.
Thank you Laurie! We leave for Maui in 5 days!! After this last year and a half, to say we’re looking forward to it is an understatement! Love all your tips! I’ve been watching several of your videos today to be sure I’m packing the best way possible. Love your channel, thanks again!!
We leave for Europe in little over a week and I haven't flown in 12 years and my husband even longer than that so I've watched almost all of your videos and have learned sooooo much. Thank you!
I swear, Laurie -- every time I watch one of your videos, I capture one more travel tip/line item that I need to add to my travel list (especially the stretchy gym belt that looks much more comfortable than the stiff, ugly security belt you wear around your waist). My list has now grown to 8 pages, starting with "To Do 6-7 Months Before Travel" and ending with "Day of Departure."
I live in the UK and travelled a few times to Australia in economy which is hard going for 24 hours. I have a foot sling, but found a neck pillow too bulky, so bought a trtle neck support which I find much better. Even used it when needing a nap during my daughter's long labour of her first baby. Well I am in my 70s 😂 Her partner borrowed my husband's trtl and found it a great help too. I've been watching, and enjoyed your videos back to back today. Often say to myself, yes I do that too 😊 but you still give lots of good helpful advice and hacks that I need to make a list of for the future 😊💞
A few years ago I flew to Australia. It was 6 hours from Newark to LA, then 16 hours from LA to Melbourne. It was a killer! I would love to go again, but if I do, I will fly to Hawaii, spend the night, then continue on to AU.
What I did was repurpose a lanyard from one of many past conferences. It has worked great for me. I have bought multiple RipSkirts and given as a gift. Wonderful product
I love these tips! I travel back and forth to Italy, from Canada. It is a long flight as I fly from Hfx, NS to Toronto, Pearson. which adds another 4 hours to the flight time. All together it is about 12 hours total travel time. I like so many of your tips! I love that jacket, the compression stockings, the tummy band to hold valuables. I adore the wrap skirt and the 3/4 sleeve tops. As you probably know, if visiting the Vatican, St. Peters Basilica, the Monks will turn you away if you are not modestly covered and have a lightweight headscarf. I usually take .25mg of Aspirin just to use as a mild blood thinner but I like your compression stockings. Thank you so much...I think I am a savvy traveller and then I read one of your UA-cam posts and you do it better...lol...
I love your videos!! I have most of the items you use. I just ordered the converter you have. I checked the link. 😂 I love my scarfs. If you do get a scarf that the zipper doesn’t blend, find a seamstress to change it out. My mom did mine. I always make sure mid trip and the last Airbnb has a washer and dryer. I like to fly to Europe after 4pm, that way I can sleep on the plane. When I fly home I leave in the morning. It really helps the jet lag. I don’t take a hair dryer. My hair is butt length. I wash it at night and it’s mostly dry by morning. I’m Chickasaw and I wear it braided, down or tie it in a Navajo knot.
Heading from Virginia to Australia Aug '24. Can't wait for the adventure but dreading the flight. I have appreciated your tips and the recommended products. 😊
Thank you Laurie for correcting the "Show More" section so we can see what you're items you're showing. You have good taste in finding quality and useful items for traveling essentials. I appreciate your hard work and dedication for posting regularly.
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie On a previous video there was no area of "SHOW MORE" showing where to buy the items you mentioned in that video. I'm glad the issue was resolved, no worries.
Just came across this earlier video. Love the coat that can be worn backpack style. Put that over your backpack, the zips won't be visible and that could be a deterrent to the light fingered and the fabric slashers. E❤.
Loving your videos, I’m bing watching for tips and you have gave me an idea to customise my own luggage and clothes I have to make them more secure and theft proof. An excuse to get the mini sewing machine out and little shopping on Amazon for latch clips and looking out old bags to cut out pockets and zips. Reusing old lanyard buckles and sewing it to neck pillow etc. also maybe thinking of crocheting a sleeve for my suitcase just to identifying it and little protection for under my transparent cover. Who knows, might start a trend 😂 Safe future travels to you and all, thanks again for your fantastic useful tips and info videos, appreciation from Scotland 🏴 ❤
we are tentatively scheduled for another scotland trip in about a year. another thing we found very handy on the last trip was we got bulkhead seats for the outbound leg. it was great because we could get up to stretch or use the lavatory without disturbing anyone else in the row. the drawback is no seat in front to stow the personal item under.
My trick when I end up in bulkhead is to stow whatever I'm going to need during the flight in a drawstring bag and tuck it under my seat, since the planes I've been in bulkhead on, there is a spot under the seat that's actually in front of the area where the person behind me's underseat bag goes, so it doesn't actually take up any of their space, and I can still reach it without having to get out of my seat; I stick my waterbottle in/on the pocket on the wall in front of me, either inside the pocket (if it fits) or clip it onto it (I always have a carabiner on mine).
These are great tips - thank you! Pre-COVID, I traveled frequently for work. I still fly to visit my mother, but that’s just a 2.5-hour flight. Getting ready to book business travel again for the first time in 2 years, to Dubai in November. That will involve a 14-hour flight with 1-hour flights and layovers on each end and then I’ll have to lead a 2-week workshop. Trying to plan in a way that will minimize jet lag!
Yes! I'm 5' 9" size 10. The sleeve length struggle is real! I use Jobst brand compression stockings. Medical grade so they are super supportive. Consequently, sometimes a bit tricky to get off and on.
Your suggested Adapter states that it is NOT A VOLTAGE CONVERTER per the Amazon description. It states that it will damage your device (and blow a fuse) for 220V to 110V. I purchased a hair dryer that can be converter from 220V to 110V with a simple button. Great tips! Recently used your neck pillow on 9 hour flight and it was wonderful.
When I travel I always put my passport and ID in a bag like a Ziploc bag, keeps it from getting wet and easy access so that I can take it out and have everything together in one shot. A lot of times I would fold out the print out of my ticket as well plus a copy of my itinerary. I usually put them in like a quart size bag and it works brilliantly. I can roll it up and put it in a little waist pack or Crossbody. Another thing I do is like a travel size meds because if you got an upset stomach or anything in the middle of flight do you wanna make sure you have some thing to take a Tums Pepto whatever. I also carry a small first aid kit and since I’m super certified I also carry the two a mask so that way there I can breathe in without their air coming back once they breathe. Copies of everything I need when I have and I take one with me in case anything happens I have all the contact information written down so that way there if needed and emergency they are able to get a hold of me somebody is able to get a hold of my family. There is not a safe in the room, I put my valuables hidden away where people wouldn’t think. Believe me there are a lot of nooks and crannies the people don’t think about when they’re hiding their goods. Also when I’m charging everything have everything right hand in case of an emergency I can grab it all at once and be out the door including a change of clothes because if there’s a fire in your hotel and you need to get out you need to have access to your stuff. They having a small bag ready to go you can just grab that and head out the door. I always recommend having a pair of slip on shoes your slippers that were there you could slide your feet into them. You also want to make sure that you have something comfortable you’re sleeping in that that way they’re in an emergency you are prepared because I know some people like to sleep without a undergarments, I always recommend get the breathable fabric material that you can wear is undergarments while you sleep so that way there in an emergency you’re not heading out the door with nothing on underneath. And God for bid if there’s a fire and you need to get off the clothing you’re naked. My daughter and I are traveling to France/Spain for her high school end of June.
traveled with hubby and four kids. I cut the last of our Christmas ribbon into lengths and tied one on each suitcase. Now the whole family knows which bags are ours on every trip and even on road trips when we meet up with other travelers.
Thanks Laurie! Love all your tips! I am headed to Barcelona in 16 days to board the Norwegian Epic with my mom and daughter. I just re-watched your videos from your western Med cruise on the Epic.
I ordered the phone prop for travel after seeing it in one of your previous videos ...and it is now one of the things I use the most during the day! It really helps in my office when I have 2 phones on my desk. I may order another one to keep in my travel bag! Thank you for sharing your experiences and practical product recommendations!
Laurie, you do an amazing job on your videos and information. I was traveling a lot back and forth from CLE to LAX to see and work with for several years with my daughter before covid. So, I had to get very travel organized. I’m mid 50’s so I needed to make it as easy as possible on myself also be ready at a moments notice. Anyway, I have learned so much from you. I use so many of your ideas even just for our road trips to and from our little 2nd home on the lake and now we have a boat and I’m going to be using so many of your travel ideas to equip the boat with essential. I have been really good with these things with 20 years of doing travel to the lake with our kids when they were little but with all the new things out there you truly do an amazing job explaining your ideas! I now share your videos with my adult kids. Thank you… keep your videos coming. GREAT JOB!!!!
Thanks for the international tips Laurie. If you could do a video on how to store all the travel accessories when not traveling I’d appreciate it. I have what my husband calls “the bag ‘o bags” but would love to be more organized. Thanks again , keep up the great work it is appreciated.
I keep my compression bags inside my carryon bag, which I store inside my larger suitcase. Like you, it’s a bag of bags. But when I’m ready to pack everything is in one place. Win, win for me.
@@susanterry8024 If my carryon and checked bag suitcases were just a little bigger, I could pack everything inside my checked bag one - I have 3 suitcases (1 very small, 1 smaller-than-standard-carryon (I think it's a 19"), 1 just-barely-too-big-to-be-carryon), and the smallest one fits inside the biggest one, but it doesn't fit inside the carryon, and the carryon doesn't fit into the biggest one, so I keep the smallest inside the biggest, and store everything else inside the carryon - TSA toiletry bag, packing cubes (all stored inside the biggest one), travel toiletries, backpack (I only have one, but I use it seldom enough that I can keep it packed away when not using it), extra luggage tags, wheelchair accessories I only use when traveling, overnight bag, etc. - and I try to keep them organized bottom to top by biggest to smallest, so that makes it easier as well.
Thanks for all your travel gear and clothing tips! I recently bought a few of your recommended items and my fav is the Travelon tech organizer! I didn’t think I needed one, but then I bought the external charger (cord), I already own a Fitbit (cord), Bluetooth earbuds (cord), my phone, (cord), my IPad (cord), so 5 cords and counting…..I also keep my external charger in the organizer and a spare earbud and converter……. Thanks to your videos, I am now expert on packing, packing cubes,, bags to use, what to bring, what not to bring, and how to go through security. My friend and I have had 4 trips to Scotland canceled. Hopefully I will be able to put all my knowledge to use next year. 😐
I’ll keep my fingers crossed that you get to go on your trip next year @Carla Haight. We have had to cancel a trip to Holland and Belgium twice and we have it scheduled for next spring. Now I’m scared the EU will close up again to us because of Covid numbers. I’m trying to stay positive so I can use Laurie’s tips!🤞🏻
Laurie❣️This was so jam packed! Loved it! So many new tips! I will be rewatching this for sure! Already have a few of the things you shared here from a previous video.
Alot of questions re: where to store baggage when not in use,. I condense all of my items into the largest item. Then shove the ""one"" bag in a corner! 👍♥️🇺🇸 Simple.
I learned from a Girl Scout back in the day that you should fold the dirty laundry exactly as you fold unworn clothes. This saves space and reduces crumpling even if you are going to wash them after. I find it interesting that you talk about different items for "international travel". To many of us, the US is a foreign country! Apart from the different electric outlet systems, the risk of theft or finding yourself in an unappetising lavatory is just as great at home or abroad, whichever country you are starting out from!
I love ripskirt. I have 4 skirts and a cardigan type cover. Their skirts are great for traveling... especially beach trips. Mine never get wrinkled! Great product and beautiful fabrics.
And they never fly open either. Could you let me know what you typed in search to make this video pop up? I am creating a newer one and want to know what people are searching for...what to pack for an international trip or how to or did you search for long haul flights? Thanks.
Believe it or not I had done a search for Danube river cruise Christmas markets.. lol. Those came up first.. then a lot of your videos, as well as others, came up.
Hi, I just left a comment, but I forgot to mention that I love the door lock! I usually travel alone and I am always concerned with safety, the lock is an excellent suggestion. If you have any additional safety tips or products for ladies that continue to travel alone, I and many others would certainly appreciate it!
Laurie, thanks for all your tips! All great ideas! One tip I would suggest, especially if you are wearing your heavy shoes on the plane, is to take a pair of water shoes for walking to the bathroom. They are tiny, have non-slip soles, and are not expensive. You can turn them inside out to stuff them back in your personal items bag to keep everything else clean.
I store my stuff in the suitcase while not in use. Or the other case (checked or carry-on) that I’m not using for that trip. But I think you go more often than many of us so your ideas will be most welcome!
Thank you Laurie. Your videos have been so helpful for me. I am headed to London to meet up with my grown grandsons. You are so fun and full of great tips!
Super helpful, thank you! We traveling to Spain and Portugal this weekend and I just ordered the carrier for our vax cards and compression cubes. My husband and I are sharing a carry on for 2 weeks and We will appreciate the extra space. All of your videos are so helpful, thanks again!
Hi Laurie, thanks for the wonderful tips and tricks. my family and I will be travelling to Thailand next year. Do you perhaps know if we're allowed to each take a medium sized backpack as well as a carry-on suitcase onboard the plane? domestic travelling we can do it, but i'm unsure about international.
I haven't watched any of your videos for ages as I haven't travelled anywhere for over two years good to watch your show again keep up the good work 👍 👏
Thank you for making my trip to Hawaii so much easier! The mask case is a great idea, and I use it in my purse. Each time I got on a plane, I had hoped to see "Mr. Laurie" As my pilot :) Have a great day!
Great tips for long flights Laurie as always! But finally good news , borders as open for visitors from UK are open now 😀 soooo our trip to Florida is back on!!!!! So we can put your tips into practice in December ✈️
Love these tips. I have the little slippers to wear on the plane like you showed that I found at Walmart. I have everything I need for my Great Britain trip next Spring except the Cabeau S3, which I will get for Christmas. Using a string strap backpack as my foot hammock. Thanks, Laurie!...LOL, I couldn't wait. I ordered the neck pillow today!
Great tips!! I'm totally looking into some of these products!!!! We're an airline non-rev family, too, so we mostly travel with just carry-on, but we hope to fly to London this coming spring (not chancing standby for that one, however!) It's going to be our son's first LONG, international, flight (age 17). All your ideas will help, I'm sure! I noticed you have a son, too . . . Any tips he has for long-haul travel might be fun for teens! Thank you!! 😊
That airline app! Airpods or check the plane to see how you watch entertainment. Download Netflix shows before day of trip because you can watch them on your phone at any time. We almost did not make it going standby to EWR. Almost missed a Barcelona cruise. So happy for y'all!
I travel internationally and find the exercise, flip belt, very handy both on the flight over and in certain cities. I always put extra cash in mine as well.
I like these tips...I'm always looking for ways to either take less stuff or how to pack more efficiently. I'm a big fan of the cubes. I got some at the CAA (like your AAA but in Canada)...but they're not compression. I will check out the ones you have mentioned.
I don't have compression cubes, either, but the way I fill mine, they basically act like them. I also chose the set I have based on the measurements of my suitcase and the size of each cube in the set (my suitcase is something like 19", so the biggest cube I own is a medium, because that's the biggest size that fits in my suitcase - I've got a medium, a small, and a slim of each of those, and together, they fill my suitcase perfectly, with just a little room to spare).
Thanks for your tips Laurie! I know this is TMI, but my long flight tip is...instead of wearing a bra, I wear a spanx-like camisole for comfort. After several hours, there is nothing worse than having your bra digging into you.
How about 29 hours? Tomorrow I fly home to Australia from the USA. After living in 4 different countries, and 52 different countries, 6 hours long haul? 6 hours is a walk in the park.
The compression cube that is 2 sided is a 2 in one use cube. Think of it as clean side & soiled side. As you wear your clothes fold the soiled items and place them in the soiled side. No need to pack an additional soiled clothes bag. One less thing to remember to pack.
Hi Laurie, thank you for all the tips I leave for Spain Tuesday, I am an experienced traveler working in travel industry HOWEVER I haven't flown internationally since pre- covid. I love all your tips and reminders.

We leave for Europe in little over a week and I haven't flown in 12 years and my husband even longer than that so I've watched almost all of your videos and have learned sooooo much. Thank you!
I’m so happy for you! I think you can preclear when leaving Ireland! Have fun
Woohoo!!
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie That stretchy gym belt is a great idea. I have a money belt but the stretchy one seems to be more versatile.
Oh good! Thank you Sandra!
A few years ago I flew to Australia. It was 6 hours from Newark to LA, then 16 hours from LA to Melbourne. It was a killer! I would love to go again, but if I do, I will fly to Hawaii, spend the night, then continue on to AU.
I think that is the only way I could get there. I mentally go bonkers!
agreed. i could only do Australia by stopping in Hawaii for an overnight stay.
Good idea. I’ve done both options and staying in Hawaii (maybe try to sneak in more than 1 night?) made my arrival in Australia quite easy.
We flew from Dallas direct to Sydney and it was awesome! Of course we’d saved all our miles and flew business class☺️
I’m flying from Colorado to NY ( 4 hours ) and NY to Vienna Austria ( 11 hours )
What I did was repurpose a lanyard from one of many past conferences. It has worked great for me. I have bought multiple RipSkirts and given as a gift. Wonderful product
That's a great idea! Love this hack!
Thank you for this tip!! And for watching.
I’m looking for info that is only about being comfortable on a long flight. This video is good and informative but really mostly covers what to pack.
You are always so helpful!
Heading from Virginia to Australia Aug '24. Can't wait for the adventure but dreading the flight. I have appreciated your tips and the recommended products. 😊
Yes, please. A video on storing travel items would be great. Thanks.
Uh oh I may have to get my things a little more organized ha. Thanks!
I bought the floor swing for my last long trip. I’ve used it several times now and….best thing ever!
I really like it!
Thank you Laurie for correcting the "Show More" section so we can see what you're items you're showing. You have good taste in finding quality and useful items for traveling essentials. I appreciate your hard work and dedication for posting regularly.
Hi, what needed correcting? Thank you so much!
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie On a previous video there was no area of "SHOW MORE" showing where to buy the items you mentioned in that video. I'm glad the issue was resolved, no worries.
@@sarahmanning525 OH! I see; if you are on your phone, it is an upside down triangle. Glad you can find it now.
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie I view UA-cam videos on my laptop.
Just came across this earlier video. Love the coat that can be worn backpack style. Put that over your backpack, the zips won't be visible and that could be a deterrent to the light fingered and the fabric slashers. E❤.
This was great! Thank you for the terrific tips. Yes, show us how you store your travel gear at home.
Okay, thank you!
Who knows, might start a trend 😂
Safe future travels to you and all, thanks again for your fantastic useful tips and info videos, appreciation from Scotland 🏴 ❤
Have fun! I love spurring creativity.
we are tentatively scheduled for another scotland trip in about a year. another thing we found very handy on the last trip was we got bulkhead seats for the outbound leg. it was great because we could get up to stretch or use the lavatory without disturbing anyone else in the row. the drawback is no seat in front to stow the personal item under.
That’s true! Do you eat haggis?
My trick when I end up in bulkhead is to stow whatever I'm going to need during the flight in a drawstring bag and tuck it under my seat, since the planes I've been in bulkhead on, there is a spot under the seat that's actually in front of the area where the person behind me's underseat bag goes, so it doesn't actually take up any of their space, and I can still reach it without having to get out of my seat; I stick my waterbottle in/on the pocket on the wall in front of me, either inside the pocket (if it fits) or clip it onto it (I always have a carabiner on mine).
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie it's delicious.
@@SnowySpiritRuby I don't carry a personal item bag. I keep my kindle in my windbreaker, and a water bottle if i decide to have one
Thank you for all the tips! I'm preparing to visit Scotland in about 3 weeks and it's been 15 years since I've traveled internationally

Ooh, have such a beautiful time! What clothing should a woman take to Dubai?
Yes! I'm 5' 9" size 10. The sleeve length struggle is real! I use Jobst brand compression stockings. Medical grade so they are super supportive. Consequently, sometimes a bit tricky to get off and on.
Thank you for sharing!
Laurie I asked you for the lady name that makes the masks and I receive it . But I lost the email address . Could you pass it along again.
Perfect, once again. Such great tips on specific products. Thank you !
Happy to help!
These are great tips for international and domestic trips!

You are so sweet to share this feedback. Have wonderful trips!!
Traveling to Europe for the first time soon! Your videos are very informative.

Yes that’s basically what I have, but it’s growing lol.
I too put all my travel 🧳 compression bags, carryons stored within each other in the back of closet.

Alot of questions re: where to store baggage when not in use,. I condense all of my items into the largest item. Then shove the ""one"" bag in a corner! 👍♥️🇺🇸 Simple.
That's what I have to think about b/c I just shove everything in!
I am an international teacher working inCentral Asia. I always learn something new watching your videos.
That's great! Enjoy this awesome opportunity! I taught English in eastern Germany two summers.
I thought about that-that people may think you only have to protect valuables in another country. That was not my intent fyi. Thanks for watching.
I've always folded my dirty clothes, partly because you never know when you might have to resort to re wearing something.
Oh, very good to know. Thank you!@@loripaulus566
Hi, I just left a comment, but I forgot to mention that I love the door lock! I usually travel alone and I am always concerned with safety, the lock is an excellent suggestion. If you have any additional safety tips or products for ladies that continue to travel alone, I and many others would certainly appreciate it!
I have had someone open the door in the middle of the night so I would most likely use it if alone.
Great tip for a long flight! Make sure there’s room to put your maybe swollen feet back into your shoes.
I’d def be interested in how or where you store your travel items when not traveling. Always curious to hear what others do
any travel specific stuff just packs onto the suitcase and goes into the attic. the passports go into the safe.
I store my stuff in the suitcase while not in use. Or the other case (checked or carry-on) that I’m not using for that trip. But I think you go more often than many of us so your ideas will be most welcome!
Hmmm I’ll think of some ways. Thanks for your input.

I travel internationally and find the exercise, flip belt, very handy both on the flight over and in certain cities. I always put extra cash in mine as well.
Oh nice to know. It's very helpful to me for walking so I thought touring would be helpful.
I like these tips...I'm always looking for ways to either take less stuff or how to pack more efficiently. I'm a big fan of the cubes. I got some at the CAA (like your AAA but in Canada)...but they're not compression. I will check out the ones you have mentioned.
It took me 4 years to try cc but now I LOVE them!
Thank you for great tips which are easily adapted to air, rail,.ship and road travel. Best wishes from South Africa 🇿🇦
Thanks for your tips Laurie! I know this is TMI, but my long flight tip is...instead of wearing a bra, I wear a spanx-like camisole for comfort. After several hours, there is nothing worse than having your bra digging into you.

The compression cube that is 2 sided is a 2 in one use cube. Think of it as clean side & soiled side. As you wear your clothes fold the soiled items and place them in the soiled side. No need to pack an additional soiled clothes bag. One less thing to remember to pack.
