When I started seeing this a few years ago, I thought it was some sort of joke.
@The Truth of the Matter indeed. I appreciate his speed. But I'm not a huge fan of his ideas. I'm really into Ken bedene. Speed, form, and rediculous skill.
Do Tomas Haake.
@The Truth of the Matter oh yeah yeah 😁
Awesome video. Can you do a YT legend? Please review Scott Ellis (for example ua-cam.com/video/xpM6iHpRTxg/v-deo.html)
I just love the fact that, even if you detect some flaws in someone‘s playing, you never voice it in a disrespectful manner. The heart of a true pro. Cheers
thank you!
Its his accent and tone. Lucky bastard can say anything :)
This is a gold comment 🌟
Cause he cant play it
i hope you realize this man can't teach Aaron absolutely anything.
4:00 when you want to headbang but you have to maintain your prestige as a drum teacher 😁😁
I just wanted to be the first reply, jolly good comment.
Did you really just stop the video right before the gravity blast?
A true blue ball moment
Donavan Cargin I wanted comments on those blasts. Oh well!!
That's what I was waiting - bam - skipped it
@@ericsilsby9364 exactly. No idea why kids like this dude.
lmao dude he's literally dissecting the video part by part. if you wanna hear it uninterrupted go watch the playthrough

Finally, the analysis I've been waiting for! 😄
😁
Key word being "anal." Jesus that kid is a machine. But yeah great explanation man.
First of all congratulations for the fair and sincere analysis! Thought I would only hear “he’s using trigger...”, “so fake...” and so on, but ended up seeing and hearing lots of interesting facts! Keep it up! Always nice to see these kind of videos and learn new stuff about drumming!
Thx alot bro..that was my main goal with this video!
@@TheWitchOvAgnesi thank you....you just made my day :-)
Agreed 100%! He took a topic that triggers (no pun intended, lol) a lot of folks and handled it gracefully and with honesty. Very well done, @Marthyn Jovanovic!
@@StephenChapman thank you
It would be one thing if it was triggers, the audio in the beginning 100% is superior drummer. It’s programmed. The cymbals are a dead giveaway, that main crash he rides on is without a doubt the superior drummer avatar kit
Please react to Marthyn Jovanovic, the former drummer of Belphegor.
Tomas Haake from Meshuggah?
Much requested :)
Clockworks play through is a good vid or yes the live bleed drum cam.
Yesss
Please react to Archspire's Spencer Prewett drumming!

I am seeing too many people saying what do they want to hear, and too little people commenting your video. It is really awesome that you can explain things so that even if someone is not a drummer he/she still can understand what are you saying,so thank you for that, and thank you for reacting to Aaron,he is a very good drummer.Keep up the good work man :)
thank you
This video was great. I have seen your other vids, and you are very fair at all times. Very enjoyable to watch! Huge respect to you my man!
I love how calmly you're talking about this.
Aaron for sure seems to be able to play this stuff. its really impressive. in the live video he is struggling to play because all he's playing to is the song played on a speaker next to him so he cant really hear the song that well while playing. He's a crazy drummer for sure!
true that
Wanted to comment the same, really really poor aaron
@@BareStrength true that
Hugely important to point out that playing to a speaker is extremely unpleasant
@@thejeremymcpherson I have that same problem with guitar. Vocals, no problem.
Awesome vid as always Marthyn. Still hoping to see you tackle Spencer Prewett from Archspire!
Thank you..its gonna happen at one point
Yep, had the same idea! If we're talking about speed, don't forget Spencer.

Awesome ! Maybe Mario Duplantier from Gojira next ?

Think this might be the first video you've done where you were critical of the drummer in question. Perfectly fair critique. Was interesting for sure.
True that..to be honest- it was not easy to say something negative but in this case I had to..
im a huge fan of IA and i don't think you were negative you gave a very honest and fair point of view and it was fun to watch cheers sir
@@bencousins9369 thank you
huh?

wow love your analysis and technical breakdown. Subbed, glad I found this channel!
Thank you very much!
@@drumtechniqueacademy, do you cover other genres besides metal?

I keep getting pulled into these video of yours. Interesting drummers you have looked into with great depth. Keep up the great work. Cheers from Toronto, Canada.
Another great video dude, that guy is insane!!
Keep the great videos coming!!
He went to hull east riding music college, good guy. Its insane being in the same room when he's playing. So much noise from one kit. He's extremely fast.
Check out Matt Gartska, drummer of Animals as leaders! Please do an analysis of his techniques, he is a great drummer! Thanks!

Thanks Marthyn
, love your work and videos.
Yes I’ve been waiting for this spiritual moment
Enjoy
I have to say in all of the years I have seen Aron playing he has been mind blowing I have seen him onstage in his first bands & in the rehearsal room he is an incredible drummer for sure & such a nice guy too
Been a percussionist almost my entire life and just stumbled across your videos. Just wanna say keep it up man, and the way you analyze without being rude or judgmental makes you a true class act. I never sub to stuff on youtube...but you just got a new sub
Thank you for such a detailed review. Was very interesting.
Great video, he clearly understands that it’s programmed drums but also respects that Aaron is also a great fast drummer. Talking about what it takes to play these parts and his playing technique, only hoped he’d talk a bit about the gravity blast sections if only to see him play them 😁
I too was hoping he would let cuntcrusher play up until the gravity blast and I believe it's only 2 minutes in but for whatever reason he stopped the video just short of it. Booooo
GREAT analysis. Love the video
Another great video, Marthyn! I'm a guitarist, not a drummer, but I love this series...I always learn a lot from it.
I was also happy to hear you mention plans to look at Ken Bedene of Aborted in the previous video for this series. Cheers from Canada!
This is the second time you've pointed out a higher sitting position as it pertains to the ease and speed of a technique. I really appreciate this and have decided to change my approach from level seating to something higher. I appreciate your videos more than any other analysis tuber. Thanks bruh! Wish me luck cause this is gonna feel like relearning double pedal use.
How did this go?
@@beau5296 speed and and fluidity. It's a whole new position though, so it takes time to almost relearn/tweak some techniques.
Can you react to the cowards deathbed drum playthrough by signs of the swarm?
FINALLY! Thanks for doing this!
this break down was so good. loved it
I'm legit blown away by the live version. That was pretty damn close to the edited/quantized stuff we hear a lot of in metal these days.
Best Trolling drummer out there. He knows what he’s doing and he’s laughing hard at all the haters. Good times.
The best drum review I have ever seen. Nice
Hell yea I've been waiting for this
One day you'll get around to reacting to Matt Garstka. Looking forward to that :)
Pete sandoval from Morbid angel?
Yeah good call😀
I like his beats in terrorizer, fear of napalm is crushing
ABSOLUTELY THIS. His work on Covenant was decades ahead of its time.
Good call!
But why?
Thanks for your analysis. This was a drummer i requested. I always wondered how he played such fast double bass, editing makes sense though i never thought of it. Cheers.
im gonna learn playing drums so this helps me! thank you for posting this
There is also another live video of Aaron, where he plays a cover of Thy Art is Murder. Because he couldn't hear the original song well, he messed up a bit while a blastbeat part. What is interesting here is that he played those blast beats faster than the original, I mesured that he nailed it with 300 bpm and every snare stroke was still well audible even when he was playing with left hand, so that's crazy. Also a really interesting thing about him is that he is playing extremely tight. When he is playing traditional blastbeats, the snare sounds are exactly in between kick sounds with equal periods of time and you can hear it on that live video where he plays cuntcrusher. Usually when drummers play traditional blastbeats, though the snare sound is in between kick sounds, it is a bit closer to the former kick sound than to the later.
Thx. Pls post the yt url of that video...thx
could you do a reaction/analysis of Zach Hill? The guy's an absolute monster behind the kit. would love to hear your take.
Yes! that was one of my requests, thank you very much! :D

Got a suggestion for the next reactions! Spencer Prewett from Archspire and 66Samus from Decrepit Birth (he has a youtube channel too).
I am learning a lot of things about drumming with your videos! Thank you!
Is it possible to play extremely fast double bass (i.e. upwards of 300bpm) using PURELY hp flexors - i.e. no calf muscles? Or do smaller muscle groups always come into play when going that fast?
yes- I would always go for smaller muscle groups for tempos up to 300bpm
Marthyn Jovanovic do you think that Aaron programmes his drums?
@@someone.2070 yes
It’s finally here thank you man!!!!!!!!!
Thx alot for watching my videos
Nice job, love these videos!
thank you
Think of doing any Kevin Talley? Dying fetus or misery index era?
Heh, good to know I'm not the only drummer out there who does their level best to avoid using their shin muscles.
Edit: By the way, ever thought about doing one of these videos on Alan Cassidy from TBDM? Dude is a *machine.*
Thanks for making this video, im enjoying alot...
thx for watching my content
Marthyn, i think you have the most comprehensive explanation's of any drummer i've ever come across. in saying that, it
would be awesome if you could do a video on Trym, and explaining his technique. this is a guy who's style seems to stand
alone and is unlike other drummers. Trym is a phenomenon that needs to be unraveled.....thanks buddy. thumbs up!
Seeing death metal played on an electric drum kit is messing with my head
Should see Richard Christy's twitter account. he uses a mix between regular and electric drums its really quite something.
They're death core aren't they? Not death metal

3:43. Probably the most effective metal drumming technique you can have.
Another excellent video with an informative analysis. I appreciate the link to that article about drum programming. An interesting question - if Scott Burns had not decided to take the time to develop a method for properly inputting the drums for those early death metal albums, what impact would that of had on the popularization, development, and eventual evolution of death metal as a whole?
thx alot... regarding your question: I don't really know what would have happened :-)
Excelente apreciación maestro
Hi long time fan, just wanted to say I love your stuff. Also I'd love to see you do something in a line of reacting to some of the best historical drummers, to give us insight on them even if it were to be new series. Id love to see you react to Todd Sucherman or Phil Collins!

Good job on using recorded video. I don't think you NEED to use live video, and I actually think it hurts the quality of these videos (the despised Icon video). Using recorded videos with jump cuts is fine because the bonus of having good lighting and clean audio helps us see the details. Your videos are awesome, and I love watching them. do a swag ass vid on NICK PIERCE!

The kit isn't miced up lol
And he has admitted to programming the drums. He is also credited for programming the drums on the album. He is a meme in the community, a self-aware one for that
alx NXS i think you are just jealous cause is a god at drumming

What is the name of the DVD with Mike Mangini's technique?
Man, I love this channel. This channel is so legit and this is what a reaction video should look like. Thank you for redefining the tag "REACT" or else I always skip those so-called react videos.
Absolutely this. Just came from a video where they played one of AI's videos, then one minute of "silly video, I didn't like it". Nothing added, nothing learned.
I'm fine with triggers and replacement. Like it's the song that matters. Many of us love bands like Emperor, Dimmu Borgir, or Nightwish who have big orchestral parts. We don't say "oh but that was them playing a sampler not the actual instruments."
I don't care. It's the result that matters.
I am convinced Aaron can play that fast.
Since this seems to be the request section, can you do a review of Marco Pitruzella, preferable him doing monumental torment?
This man is a pro and keep it up
He’s actually the drummer from Black Tongue and the drum programmmmmmmer from Infant Annihilator.
He is only programming Drums he can actually play okay
React to Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan. There’s a drum cam video on UA-cam of him playing “Beast and the Harlot” live. He was legendary in the metal/drum scene. RIP.
Awesome video brotha!
I am one of your student from America. Love the videos, your also the only professional performer / teacher that was able to help me play 200 BPM plus double bass. I am more of a rock , prog drummer, and only get to use moderate high tempos.. But wow, is Aaron Kitcher fast - both hand and feet pretty amazing. But, I think your pretty much the same in speed and technique Marthyn.
