Useful, but I’d also like to know how to treat flappers once you get them.

Caring for flappers is like a craft, but this process hasn’t let me down yet! They heal best from the inside so avoid drying them out.
      1) Fresh Meat: Initial soap clean to soften and remove debris, cut off as much extra skin as you can with thin scissors, but be careful (this prevents bacteria from trapping).
      2) Deep Clean: use antibacterial soap bar as it cleans under the micro skin folds super well. Use cool water and let dry.
      3) Liquid Bandage (New Skin)- A Gift from the Gods: Apply thin layer over the red meat and go a little outside the parameters. Will sting good for a moment, but dries super quick so be swift. Keep your hand open/fingers stretched so it dries with some flex.
      4) Wrap it Up: Once it’s completely dried, put a tiny bit of ointment on a bandaid for moisture. A&D is the best!
      Tips:
-Clean the heck out of it! Esp. the first two days (about 2 to 3 times).
-Read and practice applying and removing Liquid Bandage on an unaffected area to understand how it works first. Removing involves adding fresh product to it and wiping it away immediately.
-Always apply new bandages. If bandages get wet or dirty ever, repeat cleaning process and reapply liquid bandage if any of the red meat is exposed.
      - Apply some water proof tape over the bandaids when showering to avoid furthering irritation and keep the layer of Liquid Bandage.
Hope this helps you get back on the rock faster! 🩹🪨🤘

      I just recently had one.
      1. I cut the flapper with small scissors as close to my hand as possible.
      2. Wash with soap and water, you dont necessarily need the antibacterial soap in my opinion, just any hand soap will do but you want to make sure you clean it well
      3. Keep the exposed skin moist w a thin layer of vaseline/aquaphor.
      4. Put a bandaid over it. My callus was on my palm right under my pointer finger, so I use a regular bandaid and cut one side so I could wrap it between my pointer and middle finger.
      5. Reapply the vaseline/aquaphor throughout the day as needed. And wash your hands and replace the bandaid every day. The key is to keep the area moist! (If moist, the skin doesn’t dry out and hurt as you flex your hands. My rip healed in a week doing this)

Should my arms be covered in red/pink blotches? 😥

What if the pain is on the skin from rough rocks? 😥 I washed my hands and my hands were all covered in red blotches and my skin felt super sensitive. Is the pain from tendons right under the skin?
