In the Netherlands what is regarded as a weapon (for which you get a criminal record): * pepperspray * Magic staff (ploertendoder) * Stungun * pen knife * lipstick knife * Bear pack (not a real issue, we don't have bears) * gotcha cap (basically a knuckle buster) * pepperspray launcher * monkey wrist survival * electroshock gun So only a teactical pen and the last one are allowed in my country. Actually, I think the same is true for most other European countries.

Ever considered a tactical pen as defense with a 1000+ lumen probing flashlight that includes a 120 decibel alarm? The flashlight is for blinding a person so he can't see your tactical pen coming for a couple of minutes (and the a larm attract enough people to call the police. As an attacker trying to escape, who does a neck and face look like totally black and blue with 100+ dots of what the tactical pen made? Oh, and it hurts like hell. Well I can live with that the attacker is hurt not leathally but clearly visible for weeks... ;-)

Even as a child, I was always uncomfortable with the idea of bluffing my way through a life-threatening situation. Put your money into some skills THEN find a tool that suits your needs.

Once you get used to it it won’t do that anymore. I did once. Oh yeah a warning to everyone who uses the magic staff: if you accidentally sit on the staff, throw it away because if you use it again you will get seriously injured. I learned that the hard way. I didn’t know that it was under my bed covers and sat on my bed and it made a huge dent in the staff. Next time I used it, I got a serious cut on my index finger. Took out a big chunk of it. So beware. I tried to bandage it up with a cotton ball and bandaid and put a latex glove on so that the blood wouldn’t drip all over the place. Had to got to a clinic. They got it bandaged up thankfully and it healed up good. I threw it out, but luckily I bought four staffs, so I still have three.
My self defense is avoiding conflict whenever possible. When impossible I keep an utility knife and a side arm. I’m not fooling around with any of these. I’d carry the tactical pen could possibly come in handy in an accidental emergency situation.

Many now a days can look quite fancy and don't even look like work boots. My dad had a pair that looked like takkies (sneakers). Kick someone with one of those things and they are going to feel it. But for a hidden gadget and one I'd love to get a hold of that I can use for defense, but also maybe escape if taken is the knives hidden in your belt buckle. if you are like me and wear jeans all the time, no one is going to give your belt a second look.

Other than that I don't really have much else to say. 6. This just looks like mall ninja shit. I don't think I need to say any more. 5. A Swiss Army pen. Maybe an effective multi-tool, but for self defense I don't see what you're even supposed to do with this. 4. This is just pepper spray that you actually have to aim. And if someone's robbing your house while you're there, shooting them with a pepper spray gun that's likely to miss in the heat of the moment is an excellent way to get yourself killed. If you're in that situation the best thing you can do is stay put and call the cops. Trying to play hero is more likely to get you killed than anything else. Also, you know what's even more effective for your survival than firing seven shots at an attacker? Running away. Or better yet, just avoid putting yourself in dangerous situations to begin with. 3. This seems just as likely to hurt the user. 2. That thing looks like an actual gun, so maybe an actual gun would be better here. Although this may be cheaper, if law enforcement stumbles across you wielding this thing, they're not gonna know what to do and are likely to mistake you for the attacker. 1. I give up. Just get boxing lessons, or take karate classes. At this point just take a class. Overall, this video has been full of terrible advice that nobody should listen to. If you wanna learn some good self defense/martial arts tips I'd strongly recommend watching someone like Sensei Seth or Ramsey Dewey. They'll have far more and far better info than I do, which by extension also means they'll have infinitely better advice than anything in this video. The best thing you can do for self defense is to avoid dangerous situations in the first place, but if you do find yourself in a dangerous situation your best bet is to run or yell for help, and if you can't only spend just enough time fighting them to do enough damage to allow you to run away. This is all bog standard advice I'm giving, but there's a reason it's standard advice. If anyone has anything to add please do. I've only been giving advice according to my knowledge, which is more than likely incomplete.

And if someone's robbing your house while you're there, shooting them with a pepper spray gun that's likely to miss in the heat of the moment is an excellent way to get yourself killed. If you're in that situation the best thing you can do is stay put and call the cops. Trying to play hero is more likely to get you killed than anything else. Also, you know what's even more effective for your survival than firing seven shots at an attacker? Running away. Or better yet, just avoid putting yourself in dangerous situations to begin with.

Overall, this video has been full of terrible advice that nobody should listen to. If you wanna learn some good self defense/martial arts tips I'd strongly recommend watching someone like Sensei Seth or Ramsey Dewey. They'll have far more and far better info than I do, which by extension also means they'll have infinitely better advice than anything in this video. The best thing you can do for self defense is to avoid dangerous situations in the first place, but if you do find yourself in a dangerous situation your best bet is to run or yell for help, and if you can't only spend just enough time fighting them to do enough damage to allow you to run away. This is all bog standard advice I'm giving, but there's a reason it's standard advice. If anyone has anything to add please do. I've only been giving advice according to my knowledge, which is more than likely incomplete.

The "magic staff" doesn't really do anything as they're generally from wish which tells you how shit they are These videos NEVER take into account the amount of time you'd need to set these things up. Its not like a thief is going to wait politely while you get out something incapacitate them are they? It just takes a second or two for them to get out a knife or gun & your dead.
Let's say a criminal comes in with a knife, isn't the staff long enough to stay away from your opponent to hit them hard enough before the criminal gets close?
