    As a dietitian who works in critical care…I wear scrubs every day. Yay! I manage tube feedings for ventilated patients and have a board certification in nutrition support. There’s a lot of deferent roads you can take as a RD…such as food service management, research, outpatient counseling, working for a school system, working for a large corporation (like a dietitian for the railroad), or even working for food companies. Soon all dietitians will be required to have a masters in addition to the bachelors and internship…so keep that in mind! An expensive endeavor to start out at lowish pay.

    I’m just curious, but why do dietitians have to go through a master degree program to practice starting in 2024? Are the roles expanding? Is the pay raising? Anyone please let me know!

      Great question! From what I have seen, the move is mostly focused on having the higher education. Some institutions may offer higher pay but most will not. The weirdest thing to me about it is that the masters degree does not need to be in nutrition at all - it could be an MBA and still count! This is something I still wonder about, maybe it's worth a word with the Academy.

    The daily value, the amount of nutrition that is suggested. How accurate can that really be, with things like the method of which you use to cook along with the freshness of the ingredients making such a huge difference. For example spinach and a source of any vitamine C from lemon to limes to kiwi aiding in your iron absorption, to adding fat to allow your body to absorb vitamines A E and D. How can such a specific suggestion be made with so much nuance around? The reason why I am asking is I want to try to design a recipe that anyone can enjoy, that has exactly what you need nutritonally and calorically- preferably a little less calorically and eat it three times a day every day and be healthy for the rest of your life.

      @@ellardclost5039 Honestly- I was hoping to make a resteraunt or failing that a cookbook designed with a suite of dishes that fit this bill. But most of them is just labour intensive and not worth doing outside of a resteraunt to start with.

    Did you know the reason we have dietitians is because of the Seventh Day Adventist Church? It's true...
    In order to become a registered dietitian, you have to be certified by The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. This organization, was founded in 1917 in Cleveland Ohio as The American Dietetics Association. The Seventh Day Adventist members, who are vegetarians founded this association.
    To this day, they push plant based and plant heavy diets, and their recommendations are not based on good science.
    The Seventh Day Adventist Church got their ideas about vegetarianism from a member named Ellen G White. In the late 1800's, she was concerned that meat consumption seemed to cause sexual desire in members, so she had "visions" of the dangers of meat, and that meat caused cancer.
    None of her writings were scientific at all but to this day dietitians are still taught, without solid scientific or evolutionary evidence that eating plants is the basis of a more healthy diets.
    So whenever you think of a dietitian, the truth is their training is partially influenced by bad science pushed by The Seventh Day Adventist Church.

    • @henryasher1920
      @henryasher1920 2 роки тому

      most dietitians aren't interested in solely plant based nutrition. None of them will have been taught any of what you are saying here as part of their training unless they went out and searched for it on their own :)
